Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Finding It Without Any Effort

"Hello, Vivian. I’m Mark Zuckerberg." Mark greeted her with a smile, pushing up his glasses as his gaze fell on Vivian’s surfboard.

"Don’t be in a rush for your first time surfing. Take it slow. When I first started learning, I wiped out worse than anyone."

He gestured animatedly as he shared his own embarrassing moments. "One time I didn’t balance well and fell right off the board. My head even hit the edge. It hurt for days. But the next day, I still couldn’t resist coming back. Believe it or not, the more you fall, the more you really find your rhythm."

Vivian laughed, her initial stiffness fading significantly. "Really? That makes me feel much better. When I was trying to stand on the board just now, I fell several times and even swallowed a few mouthfuls of seawater. It was so salty my tongue went numb."

"Normal, totally normal," Mark said, waving his hand and proactively offering to help. "I’ll help watch your balance. Irene, you go ahead and lead the waves. If she follows your rhythm, it’ll be easier for her to find the feel."

Irene didn’t move forward as he suggested. Instead, she stood frozen on the spot.

The name Mark Zuckerberg was simply too famous. In her past life, almost every netizen knew him, and she was naturally no exception. This left her unsure of what expression to make in the face of this situation.

After all, she could copy a movie one-to-one from her mind, but getting into Harvard, using the school’s resources to create Facebook, and building it into a giant—if she were given another life to do that, she could only shout, ’Your servant simply cannot do it!’

So, in her heart, this was a true big shot.

If she retired in the future with nothing to do, she might pass her old age by writing books. The first one could be titled My Neighbor Is a Big Shot.

"Irene, come on!" Seeing that Irene was still standing there, Vivian called out.

Irene shook her head and took a deep breath. Calm down, calm down. Since the big shot had proactively delivered himself to her doorstep, wouldn’t it be a waste of heaven’s arrangement not to take a bite? With him around, her future internet plans were set!

"Coming, coming!" Irene hurriedly followed Mark’s arrangement and ran ahead of them to lead the waves.

With Mark’s help, Vivian progressed very quickly.

Mark stood in the shallow water, steadily holding Vivian’s surfboard. When a wave slowly rolled over, he shouted a reminder: "Get ready! Bend your knees slightly! Stand up! Keep your center of gravity in the middle!"

Vivian followed the movements she had practiced before and slowly stood up from the board. Although her body was still a bit shaky, like a little sapling swaying gently in the wind, she lasted nearly half a minute longer than before.

"Great job!" Mark couldn’t help but clap. "See, you did it! Next time, try taking two more steps forward with the wave!"

Irene also swam over, wiped the seawater from her face, and said with a smile, "I told you you were talented! Practice a bit longer, and you might learn even faster than I did my first time surfing."

The three of them had a blast in the sea. Mark’s surfing skills were better than both of theirs. Occasionally, he could glide for a distance on a medium-sized wave, the spray from the tail of the board looking like a white veil, drawing gasps of excitement from Vivian.

Irene stayed with Vivian in the shallow water, repeatedly practicing standing and balancing, even intentionally splashing water to tease her.

Vivian gradually grew bolder, even daring to proactively ask Mark for help finding small waves to practice on. Every time she fell into the sea, she would smile, wipe her face, climb back up, and mutter, "One more time."

The sun gradually rose overhead, the sea surface sparkled, and the laughter of the three, the sound of waves hitting the beach, and the pop music coming from a distant radio intertwined, making it exceptionally lively.

It wasn’t until the sound of growling stomachs drowned out the waves that they dragged their wet bodies ashore and sat down at a seaside restaurant with a wooden sign that read "Seafood Specials."

Mark ordered a seafood rice dish plus a hamburger and a Coke. Irene also ordered a seafood rice dish and a bowl of cheese soup, while Vivian ordered a cheese sandwich and a Coke.

While eating, the three talked about their respective lives.

Mark said that a music program he had been researching recently, which used artificial intelligence to learn users’ listening habits, had already shown some initial success.

Vivian listened very seriously. "Mark, you’re so amazing. So artificial intelligence really exists now? I thought it was all made up in movies."

"Artificial intelligence just sounds fancy. In reality, it’s just using algorithms to obtain user information, organizing it, and then providing feedback to the user. Once you know this principle, it’s very simple to do." Whenever he mentioned his area of expertise, Mark’s tone became exceptionally confident.

"You say it’s simple, but thinking of it and actually making it is not easy." Wasn’t this the prototype of future TikTok big data? She didn’t expect Mark to have the embryonic form of this idea so early.

He took out the laptop he carried with him and pulled up the relevant software to let them see the interface design first.

"The computer doesn’t have internet right now, so I can’t let you experience it for the time being."

"That’s still very good. At least you, Mark, have made something that others wouldn’t have thought of at all, and this interface looks very high-end," Vivian immediately chimed in.

Hearing this, Irene’s forehead was lined with black lines. The screen in front of her couldn’t even be called simple; it was completely crude.

In the future, perhaps any random student’s project could outshine this graphic design, but placed here at the beginning of the 21st century, it was already a product that broke through the era.

"Mark, this music program of yours has great future prospects." Irene put down her soup spoon and spoke to him seriously.

"I guess?" Mark said uncertainly.

"Have you thought about posting your work on Slashdot?" Irene suggested. "A program like this would definitely be popular, and it might even catch Microsoft’s attention."

"The whole program isn’t finished yet. I’ll wait until I optimize it more before uploading it to see." Mark still had some standards for his work. Since it was to be uploaded to the internet for others to evaluate, he definitely had some aspirations.

"I have another suggestion for you. Maybe you could find a graphic designer to optimize the user interface, regardless of whether you want to continue developing this music program in the future." Irene looked sincere.

What she suggested was not only to show Mark her understanding of the internet and software programs, but also to indirectly tell him that she could give him useful advice and might be able to help him at certain moments in the future.

Everything was to build up the big shot’s favorability.

Mark couldn’t help but nod. "You have a point."

Note: Slashdot is a technology news website created by Rob Malda (online name CmdrTaco) in 1997. The platform uses user-submitted tech news and editor-screened publishing as its core mechanism, covering open-source projects, hardware technology, and cross-field tech trends, with the slogan "News for nerds. Stuff that matters." Its user comment system uses randomly selected raters to grade the quality of comments, combined with a karma mechanism to optimize content display, and is supported by Slashcode open-source software for community function expansion.
