Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Purchasing Property 2

Britney walked to the window, her gaze sweeping over the neighboring villas. Most of those houses were light-colored detached buildings with various courtyard styles.

Some were filled with tropical plants, while others featured minimalist lawn designs. They were spaced far enough apart to feel spacious and comfortable.

"Does Julia Roberts really live around here? Can you run into her often?"

"You can, but people rarely bother each other. The neighbors here value their privacy," Martha replied with a smile.

"When Nicole Kidman came to visit Julia before, she also entered and exited discreetly through the side door to avoid attracting a crowd.

Moreover, the people in the community are very friendly. If you run into them at the supermarket, they’ll just nod in greeting without engaging in excessive small talk. It has a human touch without overstepping boundaries."

The group followed Martha to tour the master bedroom. The room was spacious and bright, with a walk-in closet occupying an entire wall, and the bathroom was equipped with a built-in bathtub and double vanities.

"The master bedroom’s walk-in closet was specially expanded by the original owner. It can hold over three hundred pieces of clothing and more than fifty pairs of shoes. If you move in, Ms. Britney, it will certainly be enough."

The study was located next to the master bedroom. The space wasn’t large, but a wall of built-in bookshelves was particularly striking.

"The soundproofing in the study has been specially treated. The original owner also enjoyed writing and often stayed up late here," Martha said, opening the bookcase.

"These shelves are made of solid wood and can support two thousand pounds. They’ll handle your scripts and books without any problem. Plus, the study window faces the community’s tree-lined avenue. In the morning, you can open the curtains and see the dappled light of the sun passing through the leaves. It’s perfect for focused work."

Irene walked to the desk, her fingertips brushing across the smooth surface. She imagined planning projects here in the future and felt a sense of satisfaction.

Finally, they toured the two guest rooms and the open-plan kitchen. The guest rooms were simply decorated with ample natural light, and one had an en-suite bathroom.

The kitchen was equipped with a full set of German appliances, and the center island was large enough for four people to work at once.

"The kitchen appliances are all brand new. The original owner hardly used them," Martha introduced.

"Also, the plumbing and electrical systems were just renovated two years ago, so you don’t have to worry about aging issues. Looking out from the small kitchen balcony, you can see the community’s greenery. There are no high-rise buildings blocking the view, so it’s very open."

Looking at the spacious kitchen, Vivian smiled and said to Irene,

"It’s perfect since you’re such a lazybones who loves eating in the kitchen. Once the chef is done, you can eat right away. After the meal, you can take a stroll around the neighborhood. Just thinking about it makes me happy."

Irene nodded, silently giving the house a score of 90.

This house not only met her needs for privacy and convenience, but the comfortable surroundings and her friends’ enthusiasm made her even more satisfied.

Martha sensed her interest and asked at the right moment, "Irene, are you satisfied with the house? If everything is okay, we can discuss the contract details. The original owner is very sincere, and the price can be reduced by another 500,000."

Irene smiled and pondered for a moment before turning to Martha. "I’m very satisfied with this house, but you mentioned earlier that there’s another ocean-view property on the slopes of Santa Monica. Since it’s still early, why don’t we head over and take a look? It’s good to have another option."

Martha immediately replied, "Of course! That ocean-view house is a 20-minute drive from here and is also a popular listing recently. I’ll set the navigation now."

The car drove away from the quiet alleys of Beverly Hills, heading toward Santa Monica along the winding road.

As the elevation gradually rose, the view opened up. The distant Pacific Ocean looked like a deep blue gemstone, merging with the horizon.

"The biggest advantage of the houses on the Santa Monica Hills is the view," Martha introduced while driving.

"The community density is lower, with at least 30 meters between each house. Plus, you can directly overlook the ocean and the sunset. Many artists who prefer peace and quiet live in this area."

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of a light brown detached villa. Opening the wrought-iron gate, the first thing that came into view was a pebble-paved path lined with tall palm trees and various succulents, exuding a rich tropical vibe.

Unlike the exquisite gardens of Beverly Hills, the courtyard here was more open. The lawn was neatly trimmed, and near the fence was a wooden observation deck. Standing on it, one could see the white sands of Santa Monica Beach, the rolling waves, and even the silhouette of the Ferris wheel on the distant pier without any obstruction.

"Wow, this view is incredible!" Vivian hurried to the observation deck, unable to help but exclaim in admiration.

The sea breeze gently ruffled her hair. The distant waves surged with white foam, and the crowds on the beach looked like tiny silhouettes. The afterglow of the setting sun spilled across the sea, making it shimmer.

Britney followed her, taking off her sunglasses. Her eyes were full of amazement. "It must be even more beautiful at sunset, right? Imagine sitting on the observation deck, drinking red wine and watching the sunset—it’s like a scene from a movie."

Martha smiled and pushed open the door. "Ladies, please come inside. The interior design of this house is modern and minimalist, focusing on transparency and views."

Walking inside, the first impression was "brightness."

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows stretched from the living room to the master bedroom, bringing the ocean and mountain views entirely indoors. The living room furniture was mainly white and natural wood, paired with blue decorative paintings that echoed the colors of the sea outside.

"The original owner of this house was a photographer, so they paid special attention to lighting and views," Martha introduced.

"The living room ceiling is 4 meters high, and there are no redundant load-bearing walls. The sense of space is exceptional. Standing here feels like you can embrace the entire ocean."

Irene walked to the window, her fingertips lightly grazing the glass. Looking at the infinite horizon, she suddenly felt a sense of clarity and openness.

Martha led them toward the open kitchen. "The kitchen is over here. The center island is made of marble, and the matching appliances are from top-tier brands. You can also see the ocean from the kitchen window, so you’ll be in a good mood while cooking."

The master bedroom was on the second floor, more spacious than the one in Beverly Hills, and featured a private terrace. Standing on the terrace, the sea breeze blew against them, and the sound of the tides could be clearly heard. Distant seabirds glided low, tracing elegant curves.

Martha said, "The master bedroom terrace is the highlight. You can lie here at night to watch the stars and welcome the first rays of the sunrise over the sea in the morning. Plus, the railings have been heightened, so you don’t have to worry about privacy at all."

Britney leaned on the terrace railing, looking at the distant beach. "The sea breeze here is so comfortable. Beverly Hills is convenient, but it lacks this kind of relaxation. Irene, I think this one is great too."

Vivian was very interested in the remaining three guest rooms. Each had an en-suite bathroom and viewing windows.

"The guest rooms here are also perfect for hosting friends. We could come here for a vacation together sometime. Walk on Santa Monica Beach during the day and come back for a barbecue on the terrace at night—just thinking about it feels so pleasant."

Martha added, "The surrounding amenities for this house are also very complete. There’s an organic supermarket a 5-minute drive away, and you can reach the Santa Monica commercial street in 10 minutes.

Shopping and dining are very convenient. Moreover, the community security is very strict, on par with Beverly Hills."
