Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Enthusiastic Response

The buzz online continued to build.

Chen Shiyu’s team controlled the pace with precision, releasing a new set of challenge-related topics every hour.

The content ranged from "Behind the Scenes of Britney’s Ice Bucket Challenge" to "Real Stories from ALS Patients," gradually deepening the conversation.

Across major blogging platforms, writers were already interpreting the challenge. Some broke down how it shaped Britney’s public image as a philanthropist.

Others educated readers about ALS. Still others speculated on who would accept the challenge next — Madonna or Paris.

By evening, "Ice Bucket Challenge" had climbed to the top of Yahoo’s trending searches, with related keywords surpassing one million queries.

Traditional print media moved just as quickly. The entertainment editor at the Los Angeles Times contacted Shelly overnight for an in-depth feature.

The Hollywood Reporter cited Facebook’s registration data directly, running the headline: A Win-Win for Charity and Business: Britney’s Ice Bucket Challenge Explodes Online, Facebook Sees Single-Day Registration Surge.

Even more surprising, companies began to see opportunity.

A sports brand reached out to Shelly within hours, offering to provide custom T-shirts for celebrities in future challenges, printed with charity slogans and the Facebook logo.

Several beverage companies also expressed interest in donating funds in exchange for product placement in the challenge videos.

"The collaboration requests are flooding my inbox," Shelly said, scrolling through his phone, his voice tinged with awe.

"I didn’t expect a charity challenge to trigger this kind of chain reaction. It’s not just reinforcing Britney’s popularity — it’s blowing open Facebook’s brand awareness. Chen Shiyu called it the most successful online marketing case he’s ever seen."

Irene walked to the window with her coffee, gazing at the darkening sky. Her eyes gleamed with confidence.

"This is just the beginning. Tomorrow we’re on Good Morning America. Mentioning the challenge to a national audience will push the hype even higher.

Once Madonna and Paris take the baton, we’ll fully bridge business and entertainment. Whether it’s fundraising or Facebook’s growth, we’ll get twice the results with half the effort."

Britney leaned back on the sofa, scrolling through comments on her phone, and burst out laughing.

"Look at this one. Someone said I looked both beautiful and brave doing the ice water, and someone else wants to volunteer with me. Turns out doing good deeds helps others and builds goodwill. We should have focused on charity sooner."

"It’s not too late," Irene said, turning back with a gentle smile. "After this challenge, we can establish a dedicated charitable foundation for ALS patients. It’ll sustain your public profile and actually help people who need it."

Just then, Shelly’s phone rang. It was Chen Shiyu.

He picked up, listened for a few seconds, and his expression brightened. "Really? That’s amazing! We’ll set it up immediately... Okay, see you tomorrow."

Hanging up, Shelly said excitedly, "Chen Shiyu says Facebook registrations have passed 100,000! And Madonna’s team just contacted him.

She’s agreed to take the challenge and will invite several friends from the music industry. Her video is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, and they want full platform support."

Britney leapt off the sofa, her eyes wide with excitement. "Madonna actually agreed? That’s incredible! With her involved, this challenge is going to blow up even more."

Irene smiled, satisfied. "Looks like the plan worked. We can use this news on Good Morning America tomorrow to push the momentum even further."

Early the next morning, inside the ABC studio, Good Morning America was minutes from going live.

Britney walked onto the set in a light-colored dress, greeted by a wave of applause and cheers.

"Wow! Let’s give today’s guest, Britney Spears, our warmest welcome!" Host Diane, dressed in a bright suit, stepped forward with a friendly smile and hugged Britney.

"I think I speak for a lot of viewers when I ask — how did you come up with the Ice Bucket Challenge? Was it just a spur-of-the-moment idea?" Diane sat down across from her, smiling.

"It definitely wasn’t a whim," Britney said earnestly.

"Since last year, I’ve been getting letters from fans with ALS. But with work, I never really understood what they were going through. This year, I visited a fan in the hospital, and that’s when I truly learned about the ALS community." She paused, her gaze softening.

"There was a ten-year-old girl. She was slowly losing feeling in her limbs. Even though that’s terrifying, she still smiled when she saw me. In that moment, I felt awful. I knew I had to do something for them."

"Later, Irene suggested the event. The idea was to let people experience being ’frozen’ for a moment — to understand even a fraction of what patients endure. They live with that kind of physical stiffness and immobility every day. It’s more powerful than just donating or making a statement."

Diane nodded, visibly moved. "That’s truly heartfelt. A lot of people had never heard of ALS before. Your video got them to pay attention. We just received the latest numbers.

As of 8:00 AM today, your challenge video on Facebook has over one million views and more than 200,000 shares. Facebook’s new registrations have surged by 150,000! Those numbers are staggering. How do you feel right now?"

"Really? That’s incredible!" Britney’s eyes widened in surprise. "I’m so happy and touched. My only goal was to get more people to learn about ALS. I never expected it to inspire this much participation.

Last night I saw a comment from someone who said he didn’t know what ALS was before the video. He looked it up and donated. Some parents even did mini Ice Bucket Challenges with their kids to teach them about helping others. That kind of feedback means more to me than any statistic."

"That’s the power of public service," Diane said with a smile. "But the question on everyone’s mind is — you started the challenge and nominated three friends. Have they confirmed whether they’ll participate?"

Just as Britney opened her mouth to answer, applause erupted from the side door of the studio. Irene walked in, wearing a coordinating top, her smile bright. The audience’s cheers grew even louder than before.
