Chapter 59: Chapter 59: New Home

Irene stepped into the bathtub, and the moment the hot water enveloped her body, she truly felt the exhaustion of the day.

The soreness in her legs and the stiffness in her shoulders and neck slowly dissolved in the warm water, sending a tingling sensation of relaxation through her nerve endings.

It had been a busy day, but the results were indeed good.

The script now had the support of field research, making it more solid.

She had also unexpectedly gained a puppy.

Leaning against the edge of the tub, she felt the hard work was worth it.

By the time she dried off, changed into loungewear, and walked out, she found that the whole family already knew about Lucky’s existence.

Even her father, Francis, had personally set to work, using wooden boards to build a little doghouse for Lucky in the backyard, complete with a pointed roof and everything.

Her elder sister, Sophia, also contributed a soft old blanket to welcome Lucky, carefully spreading it inside the house as a mattress.

At this moment, the whole family was gathered around the puppy.

Her mother, Eleanor, was mixing pet milk powder for it, while Ophelia knelt on the floor, gently wiping its little paws with a damp towel, happily occupied.

Lucky seemed to sense the cheerful atmosphere, wobbling around and constantly sniffing at everyone’s feet, trying to memorize the scent of each family member.

Francis watched for a while and finally made a decision.

"Let’s fix Lucky’s little home in that spot in the backyard."

He pointed to a corner that could be seen directly from Irene’s bedroom balcony.

"It’s well-ventilated and convenient for keeping an eye on him."

However, considering Lucky was still too small and needed more meticulous care, everyone unanimously decided that Ophelia, the experienced housekeeper, would be primarily responsible for feeding him for now.

"Once he’s a bit older, we’ll slowly teach him the rules," Eleanor said as she stroked the puppy’s head, her tone gentle.

The next morning, Irene woke up to a persistent scratching sound at her door.

Bleary-eyed, she opened the door, and little Lucky immediately wagged his tail and lunged at her feet.

Irene crouched down and gave his furry little head a good rub until the little guy let out a comfortable whimper, only then standing up satisfied.

After a quick breakfast, Irene locked herself in the study, throwing herself entirely into the final polishing of The Italian Job script.

She repeatedly refined the rhythm of the car chases and detailed the character dialogue, ensuring every part was precise and powerful.

After three days of repeated polishing, it was finally approved by her parents, two veteran filmmakers.

Francis praised the solid story structure, while Eleanor expressed appreciation for the portrayal of the female characters.

With this final draft in hand, the driver took her and the script to the Fox Building.

As luck would have it, when Irene arrived, Adelaide Griffin was in a high-level meeting.

He instructed his assistant to take Irene to Adelaide’s office and ask her to wait for a moment.

She sat in the spacious, bright office, the air filled with a faint scent of cedarwood.

Fresh white daisies sat on the large desk, and behind the chair was a wall-to-wall bookshelf labeled with various materials, looking neat and organized.

She couldn’t help but think of her own nearly idle temporary office.

A thought flashed through her mind.

Perhaps she should take the initiative and have Chen Shiyu investigate if there were any film projects worth investing in.

Although she knew the chances were slim.

After all, the Big Six studios weren’t incompetent.

Any script with even a bit of market potential had already been snatched up.

Taking a share from them wouldn’t be easy.

"Hi, Irene, good morning," Adelaide Griffin’s voice came from behind her as the door opened.

Irene immediately stood up and turned to greet him.

"Hi, Adelaide. Is your meeting over?"

Griffin gestured for her to sit.

"Just a weekly routine meeting, nothing special. Did you come here specifically for something today?"

Irene took the organized script out of her backpack and placed it on the desk.

"Haha, I guessed it would be this good news!"

Griffin’s eyes lit up as he impatiently took out the script.

"Give me a moment."

With that, he began flipping through it immediately.

Irene naturally had no objection and took out her sketchbook from her backpack to continue sketching the storyboard for The Italian Job.

For a while, the only sounds in the office were the flipping of pages and the rustling of a pencil across paper.

While Griffin was reading, the assistant came back in to refill Irene’s coffee.

Irene was only halfway through her storyboard when Griffin closed the script.

"Truly a wonderful story," Griffin remarked sincerely.

"I can’t wait to see it turned into a movie."

He really hadn’t expected Irene to handle the tension and character conflict of an action film so skillfully.

It was a world away from the campus comedies she excelled at before.

"I want to push forward with filming as much as anyone, but as you know, the complexity of coordinating an action film is on a completely different level than a campus comedy. Not to mention, this one involves an international plot, and many locations still need to be scouted in advance."

Although Irene wished she could start filming right after the New Year and release it during the summer season, for the sake of the final film’s quality, the pace had to be steady.

Griffin nodded as he listened.

"I understand. I’ll personally hand the script to the company’s committee for approval later. Believe me, the approval speed will be at the highest priority."

Having said that, he suddenly remembered something, opened a drawer, took out an invitation, and pushed it toward Irene with a smile.

"Since you’re here today, it saves us from sending someone separately. At the end of this month, the company will hold its annual Christmas party as usual. This is the formal invitation, specifically inviting the Coppola family to attend."

Irene took the exquisite invitation and readily agreed.

"Thank you. We’ll definitely be there on time."

As she stood up, her tone sounded like a casual inquiry.

"By the way, Adelaide, when is Mean Girls expected to be released?"

A knowing and pleased smile appeared on Griffin’s face.

He was clearly satisfied with Irene’s continued interest in this project.

"The marketing and distribution departments have already had several meetings," he revealed.

"The current inclination is the same as your Legally Blonde, locking in next year’s summer season. We believe the vibe and theme of this movie are perfect for release at that time. The specific promotion plan should be in your hands by next week."

Irene nodded understandingly.

"Then I’ll head back and wait for the good news. Oh, what about my sister Sophia’s The Virgin Suicides? What are the arrangements for that?"
