The normally austere streets of Belobog thrummed with an unmatched, vibrant energy. It was the height of the festival season. Beyond the familiar faces of the local residents, the cobblestone avenues overflowed with a colorful tide of foreign tourists. They wore an eclectic mix of off-world fashions, their voices blending into a lively hum of mixed accents and cheerful laughter. The biting cold of the snow-swept planet seemed entirely banished, replaced by a roaring, brand-new vitality that breathed life into the city's ancient architecture.

"Watch out."

Leon's reflexes were instantaneous. His arm shot out, wrapping securely around Bronya's waist and pulling her flush against his chest. A split second later, a laughing child sprinting recklessly through the crowd brushed right past the spot where she had just been standing. Bronya, whose attention had been entirely captivated by a display of glowing trinkets at a roadside stall, gasped in surprise as the sudden movement broke her focus.

"Are you alright?" Leon asked, his voice a low, calm rumble. He released her almost immediately, his movements smooth, natural, and perfectly measured so as not to cross any boundaries.

"I—I'm fine..." Bronya stammered.

A rush of heat flooded her cheeks, painting a vivid blush across her fair skin. Though he had already stepped back, the phantom weight of his arm still burned against her waist. A faint, clean scent—something crisp and distinctly him—lingered in the frosty air around her, causing her pulse to flutter erratically against her ribs.

Leon caught every micro-expression, the corners of his lips ticking upward in quiet amusement. He didn't need a telepathic link to read the young Supreme Guardian. Her feelings were written in the nervous pauses between her text messages, the way her silver-gray eyes would dart away when he caught her staring, only to drift right back to him the moment she thought he wasn't looking. A young girl's budding affections, he mused, were delightfully impossible to conceal.

Rather than tease her and ruin the moment, he simply reached out. Amidst the jostling, chaotic throng of festival-goers, his fingers slipped naturally through hers, clasping her hand in a firm, warm grip.

Bronya's hands were striking—elegantly proportioned with slender, graceful fingers that lacked the rough calluses one might expect from a former military commander. Her skin was porcelain-fair and incredibly soft, with delicate blue veins tracing faint, aristocratic pathways just beneath the surface of her wrist.

The instant their skin made contact, Bronya's spine locked rigid. Her breath hitched. It took a long, agonizingly tense second before the tension finally bled out of her shoulders, allowing her to relax into the comforting heat of his grasp.

"Don't be nervous," Leon murmured, tilting his head to catch her gaze. A gentle, disarming smile played on his lips. "The crowd is getting thicker. It's just easier not to get separated this way."

Bronya offered a tiny, breathless nod. Her eyes remained stubbornly glued to the pavement, eventually drifting to where their hands were joined. His hand is so large, she thought, watching how easily his long fingers completely enveloped hers. A strange, heavy sense of security settled deep in her chest, anchoring her amidst the noisy festival.

"You rarely go out just to shop, do you?" Leon asked, breaking the comfortable silence as they handled past a row of food vendors.

"It is... indeed quite rare." Bronya blinked, snapping out of her daze. She shifted her weight, suddenly feeling a bit self-conscious. "When I was serving in the Silvermane Guards, you know how dire the situation in Belobog was. There weren't exactly many boutiques open for leisure, and I hardly had the luxury of free time to browse." She paused, her grip on his hand tightening just a fraction, her voice dropping to a softer register. "And after taking up the mantle of Supreme Guardian, that free time vanished completely."

A sudden realization struck her. She was supposed to be the one acting as his official guide, showing him the renewed sights of her city. How had the dynamic shifted so effortlessly into him leading her through the markets like a seasoned local? The thought made a fresh wave of heat prickle at her neck. She kept her chin tucked, hyper-aware of the passing citizens, half-convinced that every pair of eyes in the plaza was fixed directly on their intertwined hands.

"That outfit looks nice. Do you want to try it on?"

Leon abruptly stopped in front of a brightly lit boutique. He followed the exact trajectory of the lingering glance Bronya had cast just seconds prior. Displayed in the grand window was a tailored beige coat, boasting a simple, elegant cut that practically screamed high society.

Bronya's eyes widened. She had only let her gaze drift over the mannequin for two, maybe three seconds at most. Yet, he had caught it instantly.

"Go on, try it." Before she could formulate a polite refusal, Leon had already flagged down the eager clerk, having the garment pulled from the display and gently pressing the soft fabric into her arms.

Unable to resist his encouraging nod, Bronya took the coat and retreated into the plush fitting room. A few minutes of quiet rustling passed before the heavy velvet curtain was finally pulled back.

Leon looked up, his eyes narrowing in genuine appreciation.

Stripped of her rigid, militaristic Silvermane Guards uniform, Bronya seemed to have shed the heavy armor of her responsibilities. The sharp, commanding edge of the Supreme Guardian melted away, revealing a stunning, soft beauty that the citizens of Belobog rarely had the privilege to witness.

She had layered the beige coat over a tight-fitting black turtleneck sweater, the dark fabric clinging to her figure and perfectly outlining her slender waist and full curves. A crisp white pleated skirt swayed gently around her thighs with every hesitant step she took. Beneath the hem, her long, shapely legs were encased in sheer black stockings, ending in sensible yet stylish ankle boots.

Her striking features were dusted with a heavy blush of embarrassment. Bathed in the warm, golden lighting of the boutique, she looked less like a hardened military leader and more like a glowing, ethereal vision.

"How is it...?" she asked, her voice uncharacteristically small. "Does it look good?"

The sheer intensity of his unblinking stare made her incredibly self-conscious. She fidgeted with the hem of the coat, the red on her cheeks deepening into a furious crimson. Her entire wardrobe was practically a sea of starched collars, epaulets, and military blues. Wearing something so distinctly casual and feminine left her feeling exposed, completely out of her depth.

Yet, as she registered the raw, undisguised admiration burning in Leon's dark eyes, a secret, thrilling sliver of joy bloomed in the center of her chest.

"Yes. It looks incredible," Leon admitted frankly. His gaze swept over her one more time, lingering appreciatively without the slightest attempt to hide his approval.

"Oh my, Mr. Leon has such impeccable taste!" The shopkeeper practically materialized beside them, her face split into a beaming, irrepressible smile. "This outfit is practically tailor-made for the Supreme Guardian! It highlights your grace perfectly, Madame!"

The woman was practically vibrating with excitement. To have the legendary Deliverer of Belobog and the Supreme Guardian herself gracing her humble boutique together—it was the kind of luck and advertising money simply couldn't buy.

"Mhm, we'll take it. You can leave the tags off," Leon said smoothly, pulling out his jade payment token.

"Mr. Leon, wait, let me pay for it—" Bronya quickly reached out, trying to intercept his hand.

"It's fine. Consider it a gift," Leon replied, having already tapped the token to the terminal. The transaction chimed in approval.

"Thank you..." Bronya murmured. She lowered her hand, a warm, sweet ripple of emotion spreading through her chest at his effortless generosity.

While Leon stepped toward the counter to finalize the receipt, the shopkeeper leaned in close to Bronya. A conspiratorial, gossiping glint flashed in the older woman's eyes as she lowered her voice to a dramatic whisper.

"Lord Supreme Guardian... if I may be so bold, are you and Mr. Leon..."

"No, no, no! You've completely misunderstood, we aren't that kind of—" Bronya panicked, her hands waving frantically in front of her chest. She shot a terrified, subconscious glance toward the counter. Seeing that Leon was seemingly engrossed in inspecting a display of cufflinks, she let out a long, shaky exhale of relief.

"Ohhhh—" The shopkeeper let out a highly exaggerated, meaningful hum. "I understand, I completely understand. Not for the time being, right?" She winked playfully, raising a clenched fist in a supportive gesture. "Lord Supreme Guardian, you have to work hard to lock him down!"

Bronya felt as though her face might actually catch fire. She stole another desperate glance at Leon's broad back, offering the shopkeeper a tiny, mortified nod before scurrying away. She genuinely believed her secret was safe.

She was entirely wrong.

With Leon's superhuman senses, a few meters of distance and the ambient noise of the festival meant absolutely nothing. He had heard every single whispered syllable with crystal clarity. He kept his back turned, merely curling the corners of his lips into a wicked, silent smirk.

A young girl's heart truly was an open book. And this kind of green, hyper-cautious affection was a refreshing change of pace. It was entirely different from Ruan Mei's cold, calculating self-possession, a stark contrast to Cocolia's mature, bold initiative, and completely distinct from whatever chaotic dynamic he had going on with Serval.

Bronya's affection was like the very first bud of green on a frostbitten branch in early spring—fragile, trembling slightly in the wind, yet bursting with an obvious, burgeoning vitality.

"Brother Leon..." Bronya walked over to join him at the door, her voice soft and hesitant. "Do you... have any other plans for later this evening?"

"No." Leon turned, looking down into her expectant eyes. "My schedule is clear."

"Then... then would you like to come back to my house for dinner?" she blurted out hurriedly. The moment the words left her mouth, panic seized her features. Fearing it sounded far too forward, she frantically backpedaled. "I don't mean anything inappropriate! I just... I just wanted you to taste my cooking. As thanks for the coat."

Halfway through her frantic explanation, she realized she was digging her own grave. The classic defense of protesting too much only made her face burn hotter, the crimson flush now reaching the tips of her ears. Leon watched her squirm, the amused smile on his face deepening into something far more fond.

"Sure," he agreed smoothly, saving her from further embarrassment. "Lead the way."

The two of them stepped back out into the biting chill of the Belobog streets, walking shoulder-to-shoulder as they chatted about trivial matters. As the evening deepened, the grand, archaic streetlamps lining the administrative district began to flicker to life, casting long, dancing shadows across the snow-dusted cobblestones.

The festive atmosphere showed no signs of dissipating. Street vendors continued to loudly hawk roasted meats and spiced cider, while gaggles of bundled-up children chased each other through the plazas, trailing ribbons of light from the glowing pinwheels clutched in their mittens.

Bronya's hand had once again found its way into Leon's grasp. The initial shock had entirely faded; she had gradually become accustomed to the heavy, comforting warmth of his palm against hers. In fact, as the freezing wind whipped past them, she found herself actively craving it, her fingers curling tighter around his.

"Honkai: Star Rail is about to update," Leon suddenly announced. He pulled his smartphone from his pocket, waving the glowing screen right in front of her eyes. A mischievous, knowing smile played on his lips.

"Mm... okay," Bronya responded subconsciously, blinking at the bright screen. Her mind, still pleasantly clouded by the warmth of his hand and the prospect of cooking for him, hadn't quite caught up to the bizarre nature of his statement.
