Chapter 2630: Story 2631: The First Heir
The stranger stood upon the highest tower of the Forgotten City.
The black crown rested in his hands.
Kael stared at him from across the valley, unable to understand what he was seeing.
“That face...”
Mara stepped beside him.
“He looks exactly like you.”
Kael shook his head.
“No. That’s impossible.”
Elias remained silent.
Lena looked at him.
“You know who he is.”
Elias slowly nodded.
“I’ve seen him before.”
Kael turned sharply.
“Where?”
“In the laboratory.”
The words struck Kael like a blade.
Elias continued.
“Before Veyr began the experiments, there was another subject.”
Adrian stepped closer.
“How many years ago?”
Elias looked toward the Forgotten City.
“Not years.”
“Then what?”
“Centuries.”
Kael’s expression hardened.
“You’re saying that man has been alive for centuries?”
Elias shook his head.
“Not alive.”
The First Origin suddenly growled.
The ancient creature stared at the stranger with unmistakable hatred.
“THE FIRST HEIR.”
Kael raised his sword.
“Why does he look like me?”
Seraphine approached slowly.
“Because your bloodline was created from him.”
Kael stared at her.
“What?”
“The first heir was not born naturally.”
Seraphine pointed toward the Forgotten City.
“He was created using the original blood of the First Origin.”
Adrian’s eyes widened.
“Then Kael...”
“Is his descendant,” Seraphine finished.
The stranger suddenly raised the black crown.
A pulse of red energy swept across the valley.
Every undead creature stopped marching.
Then they turned toward Kael.
Lena grabbed his arm.
“Kael, something is happening.”
The stranger’s voice echoed across the mountains.
“BROTHER.”
Kael froze.
The stranger smiled.
“You finally returned.”
Kael shouted back.
“I am not your brother!”
The stranger laughed.
“You were made from my blood.”
Elias stepped forward.
“Enough.”
The stranger looked at him.
“Elias.”
His smile faded.
“You were never supposed to survive.”
Elias tightened his grip on his weapon.
“Neither were you.”
Veyr appeared beside the stranger.
“Stop wasting time.”
He pointed toward the ancient crown.
“The ritual must begin.”
Kael raised his shield.
“What ritual?”
Veyr smiled.
“The awakening of the First Heir.”
The black crown began glowing.
Lena suddenly screamed.
Her body lifted from the ground.
Red energy wrapped around her.
Kael rushed toward her.
“Lena!”
The stranger raised one hand.
A wall of energy slammed Kael backward.
Elias attacked.
The stranger moved faster than the eye could follow.
He struck Elias across the chest and sent him crashing into the stone.
“Elias!” Kael shouted.
Mara and Ethan opened fire.
The bullets stopped in midair.
The stranger slowly looked toward them.
The bullets fell harmlessly to the ground.
Mara stared in disbelief.
“What is he?”
Seraphine whispered,
“The first perfected heir.”
Kael rose.
His sword began glowing red.
The stranger looked at him.
“Come to the city.”
Kael pointed his blade.
“I’ll come.”
The stranger smiled.
“But not to join you.”
Kael stepped forward.
“To end this.”
Suddenly, the black crown released a massive pulse.
The Forgotten City came alive.
Ancient gates opened.
Thousands of armored creatures emerged from its streets.
And behind them came something enormous.
A colossal throne carried upon the shoulders of undead giants.
Veyr looked toward it with triumph.
“The First Throne.”
The stranger placed the crown upon his head.
The sky turned completely black.
Then he spoke.
“Let the bloodline return to its beginning.”
Kael looked at Lena, Elias, and the approaching army.
He understood the truth at last.
The enemy was not trying to conquer the Second Kingdom.
They were trying to resurrect the civilization that existed before it.
And Kael was the final piece they needed.
