Third Person POV

Hogwarts.

...

...

The Transfiguration class was not difficult to find once Severus began looking for it.

When he arrived, Severus was one of the first to enter. He sat in a corner, opened his books, and decided not to pay attention to anything else.

It didn't take long for the noise to begin, as the students filled the room completely.

Severus finally put down the book about magical creatures. It wasn't Newt Scamander's book, but rather one of the thousands of other volumes that existed about magical creatures. Although this one was much darker, it spoke about something that had interested Severus ever since he left the kitchen.

After all, he was still thinking about the house-elf matter. He wanted to understand the nature of their magic, especially their teleportation.

During the walk there, he had conducted a test. After separating from the girls for a few minutes, he called Tock, one of the younger house-elves from the kitchen whom he had the opportunity to speak with before chaos broke out when using his warg abilities.

She appeared instantly at his side upon hearing her name, immediately asking what her master desired.

Severus asked her to teleport several times. After they found a place without curious portraits spying on them, he began observing her carefully.

The house-elves' teleportation was far superior to Apparition. They could perform it within Hogwarts' anti-Apparition wards.

Furthermore, it was much quieter and faster. In an instant, the elf was already at the other end of the corridor.

Severus wondered whether wizards had ever taken an interest in learning that type of teleportation. And he would not be surprised if the answer was no.

After all, house-elves were despised. They were one of the most mistreated races in the wizarding world. Moreover, many wizards were extremely prejudiced. They considered house-elves inferior, and their magic equally inferior. They were simply stupid.

In any case, Severus was interested in that method of movement. If he could use it in combat, it would be extraordinary. Moving through spaces where no one else could teleport and doing so silently. Without the characteristic crack that accompanied Apparition, it would be far more effective when facing enemies.

That was exactly why he had become interested in the house-elves in the kitchen. And also why he had tried to enter their minds. He wanted to understand the sensation, he wanted to understand how it worked. After watching Tock teleport, Severus entered her mind directly.

He began analyzing how she manipulated magic to accomplish that feat. He gathered all the memories related to the process. Now he possessed those memories as though they were his own.

As though he himself had performed that teleportation countless times, but at the same time, without the spell itself. Yet he could already begin working on developing it...

His objective was simple: to understand the nature and structure of house-elf spells. And their teleportation was certainly not the only interesting aspect. House-elves possessed many peculiar abilities. Their way of using magic was different.

His ability to cast magic without a wand also interested Severus, even though he could already do many things without one. In any case, Severus would leave that research for later.

As he organized his thoughts, he saw Professor McGonagall enter the classroom. Her eyes immediately turned toward him.

After quickly scanning the room, her gaze returned to Severus. Her lips tightened slightly, and she clearly wanted to say something. Severus understood that immediately, but remained calm.

"Well, it is good to see all of you here again. We will begin this year's studies." She began as she started a more theoretical lesson on that first day.

As he listened, Severus let his gaze drift as his thoughts turned to the Transfiguration of inanimate objects into living beings.

That made him wonder whether he should also work on Transfiguration to create animals. It would certainly give him many more possibilities if he could transform objects into creatures, since even if they were destroyed, they would simply return to being stones or whatever materials he had used...

He began imagining stones being transformed into powerful animals. Imagine taking a rock and turning it into a dragon that breathed fire at his enemies.

Or creating an entire pack of wolves with a single movement of his wand. He wanted to achieve that kind of Transfiguration.

While the professor continued her lecture and the class remained focused on theory, Severus kept thinking about what else he could do with that magic.

Everything was new and interesting to him. At the same time, he could feel the class's eyes on him.

Even though he had isolated himself in a corner, the students could not take their eyes off him. And the professor seemed slightly annoyed by the attention Severus was receiving, especially because he remained focused on a different book rather than Transfiguration, even though he was listening to her more attentively than he appeared.

"Mr. Snape, it does not seem to me that you are reading the Transfiguration textbook..." She stopped the lesson at some point, looking at him with disapproval.

She approached him and saw his book. A book displaying a detailed illustration of a house-elf.

"I apologize, Professor," Severus said without any issue.

He took another book from his bag, placed it on the desk, and opened it to the correct page as if there were no problem at all.

The class immediately made a few faces when they saw how naturally Severus behaved. Did that mean he had spent half the lesson without paying attention?

That drew a few laughs and whispers from the Gryffindor students.

"I already read the textbook during the summer, Professor. I am already familiar with this year's basic Transfiguration curriculum. You may ask questions if you wish," he replied casually.

McGonagall pressed her lips together. "Then tell me: what is required to..." She began asking her questions.

"Mr. Snape, explain why Animal Transfiguration is considered more complex than Inanimate Transfiguration."

"Because it requires the simultaneous alteration of multiple biological systems. It is not enough to reproduce the creature's appearance; it is necessary to create a functional structure capable of sustaining movement, respiration, and responses to external stimuli."

"What is the main difficulty when transforming an object into a living being?"

"Stability. The more complex the organism, the greater the number of details the magic must maintain. An error in the structure can result in deformities or the collapse of the transformation."

"Why are human Transfigurations classified as advanced magic?"

"Because the human body possesses a complexity greater than that of most known creatures. Furthermore, incorrect alterations can cause permanent damage to the target."

Severus proceeded to answer them one after another.

"Your answer is correct. I will deduct five points from Slytherin for not having the proper material at hand and for not paying attention during class. However, I will also award you ten points for the effort you demonstrated over the summer." She replied.

That immediately silenced everyone who had been about to mock him.

The professor took a few steps toward his desk and placed the book in front of him while staring at him. She did not seem to be finished with him yet...

"I received a letter from the Ministry, Mr. Snape," she said.

Once again, the entire class's attention was directed toward Severus. There were looks filled with malice, others with curiosity, some horrified. And even concerned.

He could feel those green feminine eyes watching him, completely stunned.

But Severus kept all of his attention on the professor. "I imagine it is about the Department for the Control of Magical Creatures. More specifically, the Animagus Registration Office," he replied calmly.

"Exactly. I was surprised by many things in that letter... The fact that you registered an Animagus form already surprised me. Even more so when the Ministry sent me a letter detailing not only how it functions, but also how fascinated they are by the creature you can transform into. I am quite surprised that you managed to achieve this at such a young age," she said.

Severus had to admit that he should have anticipated that. He knew that once the Ministry discovered his transformation, those people would not leave him alone so easily. They would certainly continue trying to find answers they had failed to obtain thanks to the escort he had received from Newt Scamander.

"What kind of animal is it?" Lily was the one who asked, looking at the professor and then at Severus.

McGonagall looked at him for a moment and then turned her eyes back to the students, all equally surprised. Severus noticed the Marauders, who were still staring at him in complete shock.

Their expressions were almost amusing. After all, they were the school's secret Animagi. But now Severus possessed an Animagus form, and unlike theirs, it was registered.

"It is a wolf," the professor replied.

Black immediately made a face. "A wolf? It should have been a snake. That suits you better."

Severus was not offended. He simply rested his hand on his chin thoughtfully. "Hearing that makes me want to acquire several Animagus forms. I wouldn't want to limit myself to just one animal. I would like to transform into many of them," he explained.

The professor almost choked. "That is impossible! You cannot simply possess multiple Animagus forms. Everyone who attempted something similar died. You only have one inner animal. That is the limit." She replied firmly, leaving Black bewildered and causing the entire room to begin murmuring quietly.

Severus did not argue with the professor. But deep down, he knew he was no longer limited by that. Even though he could already transform into a dragon, he also felt that he could transform into other things.

His intuition told him so. Although he still did not know the exact path, he had the feeling that he possessed the potential to achieve something like that.

Perhaps he could even modify his Animagus form as well, blending his human appearance with that of an animal.

He could already imagine creating some kind of werewolf that did not require the full moon. Something far more powerful than any other known werewolf.

"Besides, your form was not merely that of an ordinary wolf... It was that of a dire wolf." The professor spoke again while looking at Severus.

"Dire wolf?" A Slytherin student asked curiously, not knowing what that meant.

"I would also like to know more about that species. I only know that it is extinct..." the professor said, looking at Severus, as did the entire class.

He saw no problem with that and began to speak. "Simply a larger species of wolf that disappeared more than ten thousand years ago." Severus replied, with all eyes on him. He paused before continuing.

"Dire wolves could be at least fifty percent larger than a common wolf, reaching nearly ninety centimeters in height. The wolf I can transform into is quite different, as it can reach two meters in height and possesses a much larger build. I truly do not have any information about it, if that is what you wish to ask me." Severus shrugged.

"But depending on how the world lived through various eras, there were times when animals were much larger than what we have today. There should have been some kind of giant dire wolf." Severus speculated.

McGonagall seemed somewhat bewildered. "Eras?" she asked.

"Yes, our world is millions of years old and has gone through many changes. There was an era called the Carboniferous, when giant trees were common. That happened thousands of years ago, while human beings have existed in this world for at most ten thousand years. 5

"Professor, no one knows where magic came from. I believe it has existed for much longer, perhaps since the beginning of the world. How many creatures have already existed on this planet? How many of them became extinct without anyone ever knowing their names, their forms, or their purposes? Some of them were found by Muggles and declared prehistoric animals here and there, without anyone knowing whether they were magical creatures or not." Severus replied.

The professor reflected for a few moments. She understood the world's evolution, of course she understood at least a little.

"Y-Yes... you're right. It's just unusual. Especially because this type of transformation is not known as a regular Animagus form. No Animagus has ever transformed into a magical animal. You are the first." She paused.

"I should congratulate you on that achievement." She said at last.

Severus shook his head. "There is nothing to congratulate, Professor. But if you insist, then I will accept it. Thank you." He replied calmly with a faint smile.

That classroom was certainly not accustomed to seeing Severus smile and speak so calmly, charismatic and overflowing with a certain wisdom.

So it was only natural that everyone stared at Severus as though they were looking at someone completely different.

Even McGonagall observed him with a certain suspicion, as though she were still trying to decide whether that truly was Severus Snape or some impostor.

In any case, the class continued. Severus did not open the book again. Although he had lost another five points, it was not as though he had a negative score. And if anyone wanted to bother him over it, he could not care less.

He simply took a few notes and, when the lesson ended, headed to Herbology in the greenhouses. He was the first to arrive and saw Professor Sprout finishing a few preparations.

She raised her eyes when she noticed his presence. She looked at him for a few seconds before smiling. "Ah, Mr. Snape," she said.

Although she still seemed somewhat uncertain, Severus guessed why, even though it was the first time the two had met since the recent changes. After all, his transformation had already become the subject of conversation throughout practically the entire castle by that point, and professors were very gossipy by nature.

"Hello, Professor Sprout. It seems I was the first to arrive," Severus commented casually.

She nodded. "Ah yes, very punctual, Mr. Snape. Let me finish a few things here and I'll be right back." The professor said before entering another room in the greenhouse.

Severus took the opportunity to observe the plants around him. It seemed the ghosts had not told the professor about the seeds he had taken.

He would speak with her about that later.

Now that he already possessed the seeds, he only needed to find a suitable place to begin his plantation. After all, that would be his main source of income in the future.

This time, he did not stop to read, but neither did he pay attention to anyone else. Instead, he began walking among the plants in the area.

He stopped in front of a pot containing a buried mandrake. Severus was interested in that creature.

It usually screamed loudly when pulled from the earth and injured the eardrums of anyone nearby. It was irritating, but when Severus touched its small head, he felt something different.

It radiated a green magical energy. That made it respond immediately. At the very least, it seemed it would not scream if he simply removed it from the pot.

When the plant emerged from the soil, it did not scream.

"Eeeh!"

Instead, a cheerful sound emerged. It sounded like the laughter of a baby.

Severus immediately smiled when he saw the creature. Then he touched its little belly. The mandrake began laughing like a child.

His smile widened even more. "Look at you... How adorable."

He had never seen anything like that in his previous life. A plant behaving in such a way would probably have been treated as some kind of demon in his old world. But here, in the magical world, things like this existed.

Interesting. He certainly would have liked to encounter some of these creatures in his other life.

"Mr. Snape!" someone shouted. It was the professor.

Severus turned his head and found the entire class staring at him once again. Most of them had their hands over their ears, looking at him in horror.

"Nheh!" Meanwhile, he was still holding the mandrake, which continued making little baby sounds.

"Professor... I think I got a little carried away." He said while holding up the mandrake, which now laughed every time he tickled it.

Professor Sprout's mouth was hanging open. As wide open as a trapdoor. She stared at the scene, unable to believe what she was seeing.

She had seen every kind of mandrake in her life, but never one that behaved like that. Not even the Hufflepuff students, who were sharing the class at that moment, could believe it.

Everyone stared at him, frozen. They seemed to have completely short-circuited. Among them, neither Iris nor Roberta were anywhere nearby. After all, they were in their seventh year, while Severus was in his sixth.

Realizing that he had attracted too much attention, Severus placed the mandrake back into the soil before covering it again.

"I apologize for disturbing the lesson, Professor. I'll return to my seat now." He said as he walked toward the last workbench.

Before he could sit down, someone grabbed him by the arm. "Sit with me."

Said a slightly red-haired Hufflepuff girl. Severus looked at her for a moment. This should be Amelia Bones. 1

He observed her for a few seconds before nodding. "Of course." He finally said.

Meanwhile, several students began whispering among themselves. Professor Sprout finally emerged from her state of shock.

There were many questions she wanted to ask, but that was not the moment.

"Well, let's begin our Herbology lesson." She announced with a sigh, starting the class.
