Duncan’s figure slowly stopped in front of a dissection table, on which lay a captured Berserk Demon. This demon’s armor-like skin was covered in scales and was damp and slippery. Below its pair of hungry reptilian eyes was a toothy, gaping mouth. Even though it had been dead for a long time, it still exuded a foul stench.

Its special attack was to make the enemy ’nauseated’.

When the Berserk Demon fought, intensely putrid steam and liquid would spray from its skin, especially when it grappled an enemy. The stench would cause the enemy to immediately feel queasy.

Methods of demon modification were largely the same.

There are only three major classifications of characteristics for demons of the Bottomless Abyss. First is the characteristic of Obiris demons, focusing on a frenzied form and rapid healing. The frenzied form causes those who see it to fall into madness, originating from an ineffable distant realm where the initial chaotic creations invaded the boundaries of the heavens.

The second major classification is the characteristic of Lomara demons, mainly possessing and being incorporeal. Sword Soul Demons are one of these, and Nightmare Demon Spirits, among others, have the ability to possess.

The last major classification, which is currently the most numerous, is the third-generation Tanar’ri demons. The characteristic of Tanar’ri is their summoning ability, meaning the more they fight, the more demons there are. However, they do not frequently use this ability unless in extreme danger, and summoning also has a success rate.

All of Duncan’s modifications are based on this. Only a very few Demon Lords in the Bottomless Abyss can inject the ’Obiris characteristic’ during modification.

"Baphomet’s approach to modification surprisingly aligns with my own."

Duncan packed up the research materials inside the Tower of Science and also took some half-finished products that were half-dead. Baphomet’s modification emphasized strength and physical fitness, at the expense of the demons’ inherent fangs and some flashy magic-like abilities.

Simply put, overwhelming force produces miracles. A swing of a Purgatory Bull Demon’s axe is much more effective than many demons’ magic-like abilities.

"This passage is quite interesting." Duncan flipped through the reconstruction records in front of him.

A passage can be understood this way: Third-generation Tanar’ri demons were initially created as slaves, and since they were used as slaves, naturally the most cost-effective means were employed.

So, many low and mid-level demons do not need weapons and equipment because they have corresponding forms and innate fangs.

Taking the Berserk Demon as an example, many demons use natural weapons.

Since they use natural weapons, the cost is minimized, and demons can be sent to the blood war battlefield as cannon fodder as soon as they ascend. In contrast, the Devil Legion requires training and relies on large factories for logistical support.

On the first layer of Baator Hell, factories are ubiquitous, while on the Ten Thousand Abyss Plain of the Bottomless Abyss, those demons are busy playing in the mud and fighting in melee.

Due to these factors, demons often suffer defeats despite fighting with ten times the force.

"Purgatory Bull Demon Legion?"

Duncan flipped open a page of modification notes, on which was depicted a fearsome Purgatory Bull Demon, a clumsy and straightforward demon. Unlike other demons, it didn’t have obvious fangs, replaced instead by the horns of the bull demon. But most importantly, they were humanoid creatures.

In this page of modification records, the illustrated Purgatory Bull Demon wielded a heavy giant axe, wearing thick abyssal half armor, exuding an aura of slaughter and bloodlust with every move.

"Rely on equipment to compensate for the disadvantage of fangs, greatly enhancing overall strength."

"However, it requires a vast production capability as backing."

In the Burning Legion, there are the Gan’arg and Mo’arg. The former are low-level technicians, and the latter are engineers and scientists. Because of their presence, the Burning Legion can possess the massive resources needed to arm the entire Demon Guards Legion.

Duncan’s modifications hit a deadlock for this very reason.

He could incorporate Demon Guards into one of the advanced forms of Tanar’ri demons, but once hatched, a Demon Guard is a blank slate with only a strong physique and relatively ordinary demon skin. Other weapons and equipment depend on logistics to provide.

Even combat skills have to be engraved by him, somewhat like believers skilled in using the Divine Spirit’s weapon types.

An ascended Demon Guard is far from being a match for a Berserk Demon, the latter having innate abilities and weapons from birth.

But if a Demon Guard is provided with an Enchanted Giant Axe and a set of fel armor, then the result would be entirely different. The Demon Guard could easily slay the Berserk Demon.
