I Am Already A Queen
Chapter 127: Wu Xiner Knew Jiang Yanna’s True Nature
Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Wu Xiner Knew Jiang Yanna’s True Nature
Meanwhile, Qiao Meixia continued her leisurely walk until her steps naturally brought her back to the very same bakery vending machine. Just as she arrived, her stomach gave a quiet rumble, demanding a midday treat. Approaching the digital screen, she purchased another slice of fresh cake before settling down on her favourite stone bench to enjoy it. She realised she had officially discovered her go-to sanctuary on campus.
The area was quiet and secluded, rarely frequented by other students, making it the ideal hideaway for her. As she ate, her eyes drifted over to the vibrant, blooming flowers in the nearby garden, admiring their natural beauty. A spark of inspiration struck her. She had finally found the subject for her next artistic piece.
She recalled that her client had not specified a particular theme, caring only about acquiring one of her original works. This scenic spot was ideal. She resolved to return the following day to begin her preliminary sketches.
Brushing off her hands, Qiao Meixia stood up from the bench to make her way back, knowing the lunch break would be wrapping up shortly. However, as she approached the main classroom building, she happened to run directly into Jiang Yanna and her entourage.
The moment Jiang Yanna spotted Qiao Meixia, her eyes brightened, and she immediately plastered on a sweet, gentle smile as she called out warmly.
"Sister Meixia, have you eaten yet? You rushed out of the house so early this morning without grabbing breakfast, and Mom has been worried sick about you!" Jiang Yanna asked, her tone dripping with tender, sisterly concern.
Qiao Meixia paused, looking at Jiang Yanna with unhidden perplexity. She genuinely could not comprehend why Jiang Yanna insisted on putting on such an elaborate performance of playing the affectionate sister whenever an audience was present.
"Are you deaf or something?" Jin Zexi sneered, stepping up aggressively.
"I am under no obligation to answer such a foolish question, am I?" Qiao Meixia stated flatly before casually walking right past them.
Qiao Meixia walked back to her classroom without looking back, completely indifferent to whatever opinion Jiang Yanna and her friend might form about her.
Behind her, Jiang Yanna watched her retreating figure with a complex, swirling mix of frustration and quiet resentment.
"Yanna, your twin sister really has an atrocious attitude! You were clearly asking her nicely, yet she could not even be bothered to answer you properly. What a mannerless, uncultured girl." Jin Zexi complained bitterly, crossing her arms.
"Forget it..." Jiang Yanna sighed softly, her voice carrying a fragile, delicate tremor. "She has always been like this ever since she returned. Perhaps... she just is not accustomed to having a real family yet."
Jiang Yanna lowered her eyes, shaking her head as a subtle hint of sadness washed over her features. She believed her performance was entirely flawless, confident that no one present could ever see through her carefully cultivated mask.
However, someone was standing nearby, watching her every move in complete silence.
It was Wu Xiner.
Wu Xiner cast a swift glance at Jiang Yanna, holding back a strong urge to roll her eyes at the dramatic performance unfolding before her.
Jiang Yanna was undeniably a master at playing the innocent martyr. Had Wu Xiner not personally witnessed her true nature behind closed doors, she might have actually fallen for the lie and believed that Jiang Yanna was genuinely heartbroken over her lost twin sister.
Unfortunately for Jiang Yanna, Wu Xiner had long since discovered just how thoroughly fake and calculating she truly was.
Wu Xiner vividly recalled the day she first caught a glimpse of the real Jiang Yanna. An incident involving a timid boy who happened to be one of her earnest admirers.
When the boy had nervously approached her in the hallway to hand over a single flower and a handwritten love letter, Jiang Yanna had accepted them with the sweetest, most dazzling smile imaginable. Yet, the very second the boy’s back was turned, her gentle smile instantly vanished into utter disgust. She casually tossed the love letter straight into the trash bin and dropped the flower onto the floor.
"Trash belongs in the trash can."
Wu Xiner had read Jiang Yanna’s lips with crystal clarity, recording those cold, cruel words in her memory forever.
On another occasion, a girl from their class came to school wearing a simple, handmade beaded bracelet gifted by her family. She was not bragging or seeking attention. She merely wore it close to her wrist because it held immense sentimental value to her.
Wu Xiner had watched from her desk as Jiang Yanna deliberately angled her path, pretending to slip so she could hard-bump into the girl, sending the bracelet flying across the floor where it shattered on impact.
The poor girl gasped in horror as the delicate beads scattered in every direction. The next instant, she dropped to her knees on the cold tile, her hands trembling uncontrollably as she desperately tried to gather the broken pieces.
It turned out the bracelet was the final gift given to her by her beloved grandmother, who had passed away just a month prior. A one-of-a-kind piece her grandmother had personally designed and strung together with her own hands. Even if the beads could eventually be gathered and re-strung, the original piece was ruined forever.
Jiang Yanna had immediately burst into tears, offering a loud, profuse apology to the grieving girl.
However, the girl was too consumed by her grief to pay any attention to Jiang Yanna’s dramatics, frantically crawling under desks to recover every last bead. Seeing that the girl was not granting her instant forgiveness, Jiang Yanna began sobbing even harder, dramatically claiming that she was being unfairly blamed and that she had never intended for such a terrible accident to happen.
Predictably, the surrounding crowd shifted their entire attention onto Jiang Yanna. They rushed to her side, offering soft tissues and gentle words of comfort while shooting disapproving looks at the heartbroken girl on the floor.
Watching the absurdity unfold from her seat, Wu Xiner had felt disgusted.
It was Jiang Yanna who had recklessly destroyed a priceless heirloom, yet she had somehow manipulated the entire room into comforting her while ignoring the actual victim.
From that exact moment onward, Wu Xiner knew with absolute certainty that Jiang Yanna was nowhere near the sweet, angelic soul she pretended to be. She was a vicious, self-centred sociopath who used tears as a weapon.
Following that realisation, Wu Xiner became exceptionally cautious in all her interactions with Jiang Yanna. Adopting the old wisdom, "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer". She deliberately worked her way into Jiang Yanna’s inner social circle, successfully posing as one of her close confidantes.
Seeing the scene play out just now, Wu Xiner knew better than anyone how deeply Jiang Yanna despised her twin sister. She also knew that Jiang Yanna had deliberately staged that mock-affectionate encounter with Qiao Meixia specifically because a crowd was watching.
Her motive was blatantly obvious.
If Qiao Meixia had lost her temper or argued back, Jiang Yanna would have instantly seized the opportunity to play the victim once more, painting Qiao Meixia as an ungrateful bully who rejected her sisterly warmth.
Yet, Qiao Meixia had completely derailed the trap by treating her like absolute air and walking away without a second thought. That total indifference had undoubtedly infuriated Jiang Yanna far more than an actual argument ever could.
"Yanna, please don’t be sad." Jin Zexi coaxed soothingly. "You have already gone above and beyond to treat her with kindness. If she is too cold and ignorant to appreciate it, then that is entirely her loss!"
"It’s alright, really... She is still my biological sister, after all." Jiang Yanna replied, offering a weak, brave smile.
Wu Xiner looked at her, her eyes completely devoid of warmth. She desperately wanted to ask why Jiang Yanna was so obsessively focused on maintaining her reputation as a devoted sister in public, when she had done nothing but bitterly complain about Qiao Meixia’s existence in private ever since the girl returned. Naturally, Wu Xiner kept those thoughts entirely to herself. There was zero personal benefit in publicly exposing Jiang Yanna right now.
Wu Xiner was a realist who knew precisely how to play her cards. She had never genuinely liked Jiang Yanna as a person. She merely tolerated her presence because Jiang Yanna was a high-status heiress of the powerful Jiang Family, possessing elite social connections that could open lucrative doors in the future.
Furthermore, whenever Jiang Yanna wanted to maintain her image as a generous princess, she would freely shower her friends with luxury gifts and sponsor lavish meals at high-end establishments, especially when an audience was present to admire her wealth.
