Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Went To Jiang Suhan’s Work Place

If Qiao Meixia remained away from the estate for extended periods, high-society busybodies would inevitably start spreading damaging rumours about her conduct. As the newly acknowledged daughter of the Jiang Family, she was expected to maintain an impeccable public image. He had no intention of letting unnecessary gossip ruin her value, especially while the family remained under the spotlight.

Suddenly, another crucial detail crossed Jiang Lukang’s mind.

"Arrange a private etiquette instructor for her immediately. We cannot afford to have her embarrass our family when attending public functions." Jiang Lukang commanded.

In his mind, Qiao Meixia suffered from a glaring lack of social grace and refined manners due to the uncultured environment in which she had been raised. If she was going to represent the Jiang name at future high-society gatherings, she needed to be thoroughly drilled on how to conduct herself appropriately among the elite.

"Understood, Master. I will make all the necessary arrangements for her instruction without delay." Butler Jun replied with a polite nod.

Meanwhile, upstairs in her quiet bedroom, Qiao Meixia opened the high-resolution images Jiang Suhan had sent over earlier, meticulously examining every detail of his office room.

After analysing the interior layout, colour scheme, and lighting in the photos of his office, she gained a clear read on Jiang Suhan’s personal taste. To her mild surprise, his aesthetic preferences aligned quite closely with her own. They shared a striking similarity in how they appreciated spatial atmosphere, subtle design elements, and artistic balance.

As her eyes swept over the visual details, a series of creative concepts for the custom painting gradually took shape in her mind. She already formulated a solid structural foundation for the piece, brainstorming how to seamlessly weave in visual elements that would complement his corporate space.

However, she felt it would be far more effective to inspect his office in person before committing to a final concept. Photographs, after all, could only convey a flattened perspective. If she intended to craft a masterpiece that truly harmonised with the living energy of his workspace, she needed to experience the environment firsthand.

She resolved to visit his corporate office immediately after her classes wrapped up the following day.

...

The next afternoon during the lunch break, Qiao Meixia pulled out her phone and dispatched a quick text message to Jiang Suhan, notifying him of her plan to drop by his office. She explained that an in-person assessment would allow her to draft a tailored conceptual design for the custom painting she was preparing for him.

Jiang Suhan was genuinely caught off guard when he read her message. He had not anticipated that Qiao Meixia would take his casual request so seriously, nor that she would act on it with such swift efficiency.

Recovering quickly, a warm smile touched his lips as he immediately texted back, assuring her that she was welcome to visit at any time that suited her schedule.

"Meixia, what’s the rush? Why are you packing your bag the very second the bell rang?" Han Mengyu asked curiously, noticing Qiao Meixia rapidly clearing her desk as soon as their final class ended.

"I have somewhere I need to be right now. I am taking off first." Qiao Meixia offered a brief response while zipping up her backpack.

Observing her unusually purposeful movements, Han Mengyu opted not to press any further, simply watching her hurry out the door.

Qiao Meixia navigated through the corridor, headed straight for the student parking lot, straddled her superbike, and accelerated out through the school gates toward the corporate headquarters of the Jiang Corporation.

Upon arrival, she smoothly parked her superbike in the VIP visitor lot directly facing the main entrance, removed her helmet, tucked it under her arm, and walked calmly toward the grand glass doors.

The Jiang Corporation headquarters was an imposing, state-of-the-art skyscraper. Towering over the commercial district, it radiated all the power and prestige expected of a top-tier conglomerate. A steady stream of sharply dressed executives, employees, and corporate clients flowed through the lobby, each immersed in their own high-stakes business.

Qiao Meixia paid zero attention to the bustling crowd, striding directly across the polished marble floor toward the central reception desk.

"Good afternoon, Miss. How may I assist you today?" The first receptionist greeted her with a polite, professional smile as Qiao Meixia stepped up to the counter.

The receptionist did not recognise the young girl, but taking in her appearance and the distinctive high-end uniform, she immediately recognised her as a student from First Hannan High School, an exclusive institution reserved strictly for the children of the city’s most powerful and wealthy families.

However, before the first receptionist could ask for details, the second receptionist sitting beside her sneered, eyeing Qiao Meixia with a dismissive gaze.

"This is not a playground for high school kids. Please exit the building." The second receptionist interjected rudely, sweeping her eyes over Qiao Meixia’s uniform.

Qiao Meixia shifted her gaze onto the second receptionist, staring back with a completely blank, expressionless face.

"Weiwei, what on earth is wrong with you?" The first receptionist snapped, frowning deeply at her coworker’s blatant lack of professionalism.

"Just look at her! She clearly has no actual business here and is just loitering around." The second receptionist, Shen Weiwei, scoffed dismissively.

"You can’t just make wild assumptions like that! You are supposed to politely inquire about her errand first instead of jumping to arrogant conclusions. Have you already forgotten the massive blunder you made with that VIP client yesterday evening? That disaster happened precisely because you refused to verify their identity before judging them!" The first receptionist reminded her sternly.

"There’s zero need to verify anything this time! Just look at her attire. She is clearly just a schoolgirl. What possible corporate business could a teenager have at our headquarters? That’s why I am saying we should not waste our valuable time entertaining visitors like this." Shen Weiwei stated, casting a judgmental, condescending glare over Qiao Meixia from head to toe.

"Are you completely blind? Can you honestly not recognise that specific uniform?" The first receptionist asked in utter disbelief.

"What’s so special about her uniform?" Shen Weiwei muttered, completely missing the point.

"That is the crest of First Hannan High School, the most elite school in the entire province, where only the top one per cent of wealthy and influential families send their children!" The first receptionist explained through gritted teeth.

Shen Weiwei froze, a cold drop of sweat breaking out on her forehead as those words registered. She whipped her head back toward Qiao Meixia, scrutinising her again with wide, panicked eyes, as if seeing her for the very first time.

"Th-That... That’s impossible!" Shen Weiwei stammered out, her face turning pale as she desperately tried to rationalise her mistake.

Ignoring her foolish coworker entirely, the first receptionist turned back to Qiao Meixia, offering an even warmer, deeply apologetic smile. Unlike Shen Weiwei, she understood that judging a visitor’s legitimacy based on age or casual demeanour in a city filled with hidden elite heirs was career suicide.

"Miss, could you please favour me with the purpose of your visit today?" The first receptionist inquired respectfully.

"I am here to see Jiang Suhan." Qiao Meixia stated directly without a moment’s hesitation.

"Do you happen to have a scheduled appointment with Director Jiang?" The receptionist asked, double-checking her digital calendar log.

"Sort of. He messaged me earlier, telling me I could drop by after my classes ended." Qiao Meixia replied calmly.

"Ah, I see! In that case, allow me to contact Director Jiang’s executive secretary immediately to confirm your arrival. You are more than welcome to take a seat in the VIP lounge over there while I process this. The moment I receive confirmation, I will personally escort you up." The first receptionist offered politely, gesturing toward the plush leather seating area. Then, catching herself before making a call, she added quickly, "Oh, my apologies, I almost forgot to ask for your name. May I know who I should identify you as to the executive secretary?"

"My name is Qiao Meixia." Qiao Meixia provided her name plainly.

"Understood, Miss Qiao. Please give me just one moment to connect with the executive suite." The first receptionist said with a respectful bow before picking up her desk phone to place the priority call.

The first receptionist immediately reached for her desk phone to establish a direct connection with Director Jiang’s executive secretary while Shen Weiwei stood right beside her, trembling like a leaf as the full weight of her reckless actions crashed down upon her. A heavy wave of bitter regret began to consume her, especially now that the terrifying reality had set in.
