Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Weakness?

Of course, how could Victor have forgotten? He had played Dungeon Conquest at least a thousand times by now.

The full storyline, including time skips, multiple timelines, multiple character skin, and different POVs was about 1000 hours of game play.

Of course, as a result of its large range of skins to use, even Victor was yet to finish all 1000 hours, but he was still the best at it. Especially when it came to the Babarian Skin.

Victor was naturally drawn to this character because of the muscles he could never attain.

And now, all those hours of restless game play had resulted to this.

[Story Lore (Passive) — Lv. 100]

He had knowledge about the game and the beasts in it.

Victor looked towards the Basalt Dragonic Beast.

It was not that the barbarians were not doing anything, but their efforts were nonsense.

—Like a child hitting a nail with a plastic spoon, expecting it to dig into wood.

And Popo?

He was the ring leader in charge of commanding the clueless babies.

By his command, the barbarians had already attacked every part of the beast that they assumed was vulnerable.

Its three eyes, hidden soft underbelly, and even in between its digits.

While damage was done, it’s healing factor kicked in very fast.

At this rate, they would all be dead before the beast’s HP runs down. And that is on the condition that it’s healing factor does not kick in every third strike.

But it did.

That was how the healing ability of the Basalt Dragonic Lizard worked.

Every third damage activated its healing factor.

Meaning that if one could not deal death inducing damage in two strikes, the third would make all efforts useless.

It was called [Unique Skill—Third Leg]

One of three attributes that made this creature a fierce opponent.

Victor turned towards the Babarian King, Boramo. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "That annoying snake. Of course he knows. Just like in the game."

Still, Victor could not help but swallow hard when looking back at the beast.

Do I really have to do that thing? But if I fail, I am good as dead.

What I’m I thinking, I already died once. Another one will not hurt as much. And that method is the only way to defeat this thing.

Even though he thought this far, he still did not move.

His legs did not want to.

The beast had just caught a Babarian in between its teeth and the grinding sound of flesh and bone was audible through the cheer of the crowd.

Just then, Kiki yelled.

With a huge leap from the creature’s head, she twisted mid-air, broad sword coming down in a powerful stab for its middle eye.

For most creatures of the Encroaching darkness, this was a known weak point.

Blood splashed on her face. But her attack simply made it more angry.

It ROARED, thrashing about the place. Kiki held on tight to her sword.

She looked below. It was a far distance down. Babarians were sturdy by nature. But not invincible.

If she let go, her death would be no less spectacular than all the others. But the blood from the bleeding eye softened her grip around the handle of her sword.

One finger let loose. And then another—She tried to reinforce her grip, but it was too late. Her eyes widened at the realization of what was going to happen next.

"Betrothed!" Popo screamed. Kiki was flung like a rag doll. She spun in the air, head unfortunately aimed for the earth.

’Dammit! Am I really going to die? I have not even achieved my dream of bearing sons for the strongest man on earth.’

Her gaze landed on the screaming Popo. Even though he was her betrothed, she did not think so highly of him.

He was just useful because of his birth right and possible future.

’At least the last face I’ll see before I greet the ancestors is a worthy warrior.’ Kiki thought to herself, before accepting her fate.

However, fate was not done with her.

A figure moved.

His bare feet kicked against the ground as he leaped into the air, crashing into Kiki, and barely offsetting her fall—such that her body turned and her feet replaced the position of her head.

She landed on the ground, and made a confident barrel roll before stopping her forward momentum with a hand digging the earth.

"Arh! That hurt so much... why did I do that?" Victor lamented, rolling on the ground.

Kiki was taken back by this. Of course she was far stronger, but she did feel the hit that corrected her fall.

She stared at the unsightly image of Victor rolling like a helpless turtle on his back.

’Did this spineless fool who always causes trouble actually save me? It would seem that a drop of kingly blood exists in such a mess.’

While Kiki’s impression of Victor seemed a bit more favorable, Victor was tackling another problem.

After diving in the air like that, I didn’t get to catch her and do a hero stance. I didn’t even get to hit her nice soft chests.

All I got in return was an elbow to my nuts.

"Betrothed!" Popo hurried over.

He tried to assist Kiki, but she swatted his hand.

This idiot, his own brother is in pain, but he is more interested in a woman.

Victor felt like spitting on Popo.

"This is not working." Kiki complained, "At this rate, we will all hear the ancestors’ call before we bring down the Basalt Dragonic Lizard."

Popo gritted his teeth. He knew what she was saying was true. But it was not like he was not giving it his all.

Every person that had volunteered to fight this battle with him believed him worthy of becoming the next king. Many were followers of the last one.

It was just unfortunate that one needed to earn the right to challenge a king, and Boramo had chosen the defeat of this beast.

Seeing the other babarians die pained his heart so much. And now his betrothed was having doubts. But what was he to do?

At such a time, a panting voice spoke up.

"I think I have figured out the Basalt Dragonic Beast’s weakness..."
