Chapter 157: Chapter 135: The Foundation of Elk Village

The dormitories in the Safe Zone didn’t have that much spare room anymore.

But Shi An planned to turn Camp One into a comprehensive camp. With the Safe Zone for backing and the Lighthouse to dispel the cold and strangeness, he had far more resources for building a camp than anyone else.

Elk Camp had looked like a dilapidated village because they lacked the resources and energy to think about anything beyond mere survival.

The camp Shi An intended to build wouldn’t be so constrained.

The living conditions in the camp wouldn’t be much worse than in the Safe Zone, either.

In the future, he could also select a few of the Lost residents from the camp to be permanently stationed in the Safe Zone.

Or he could form a patrol team to travel between the various camps and outposts.

But that was all in the future.

Shi An pondered.

As for the work, Chen Jianghuai naturally agreed without a moment’s hesitation.

"Of course. If anyone dares to slack off, I’ll whip their ass."

He paused, then added, "I have experience building camps. Before we moved, I dismantled and brought all of Elk Village’s remaining assets with me."

He swiped a hand over his ring.

Instantly, three ’items’ appeared on the table.

One was a ’Well Model’ covered in black, tadpole-like markings, which seemed to be sealed.

Another was a sealed ’Treasure Tree Model.’

And the last was a sealed ’Farmland Model.’

Shi An, of course, knew these weren’t just models. The Curse Art seals on them were also very unstable. He estimated they would only last for a few days at most.

Even so, he was quite curious about this technique.

Chen Jianghuai explained, "As long as the well is buried in the ground, it can provide a source of pure water in the Nightmare World. The farmland can be used to grow all sorts of crops, and even meat, and the growth rate is a little faster than in the Present Realm."

From Chen Jianghuai’s description, it sounded like the ’Well’ was a reward from conquering a Nightmare.

It was a ’drop.’

Shi An recalled that conquering deep Nightmares did indeed yield ’physical rewards,’ unlike shallow ones, which only granted insights into the use of Curse Objects.

This was because the shallow layers weren’t entirely real, whereas a deep Nightmare was an actual, real world.

The ’Farmland,’ on the other hand, was something Elk Camp had acquired during their explorations. They had literally dug up an entire plot of arable land and moved it back to their camp. It was only after a long period of tilling and cultivation that it became the mature farmland it was now.

Shi An could also tell that both the farmland and the well had quite a few limitations.

The well’s water output wasn’t infinite as he might have imagined, but was actually quite limited.

Chen Jianghuai said, "Our Elk Village originally had three plots of farmland and two wells, but unfortunately, the others were destroyed. Thinking back on it now, it must have been the work of those Pseudo-Men. They destroyed things from the inside. No wonder I couldn’t find any clues before."

He had never even considered the possibility of a traitor.

’Did the traitor destroy them because they wanted everyone to die together?’

Chen Jianghuai continued, "Fortunately, this Treasure Tree wasn’t destroyed. It can bear a type of Treasure Medicine called Red Blood Fruit. Red Blood Fruit can strengthen one’s Physique and can also be used as an ingredient in other medicines."

These were all the assets of Elk Village.

There was also their foundational knowledge of things like Secret Medicines and Curse Arts.

Furthermore, there were some assets that couldn’t be brought along. For instance, the location of Elk Village itself was an extremely rare ’danger-free zone.’ Even ordinary soil there could be used to grow things.

All these assets were the foundation upon which Elk Camp depended for survival in the Nightmare World.

They could be completely self-sufficient without relying on the outside world.

To engage in Cultivation and grow stronger, they still needed to explore the Nightmare World to obtain various Materials and Treasures.

This was the way of life for the Lost.

Their method of building and maintaining camps was completely different from that of the Countermeasures Bureau.

Today, Chen Jianghuai had handed all these assets over to the Manager.

Shi An pushed them back.

"Since you’re familiar with these, you’ll be in charge of building Lighthouse Camp."

"From this day forward, you are the Guardian of Lighthouse Camp."
