I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 1035 - 495: Life and Death, That Is the Question

Its multi-stage reinforced black light might be a power extended from this. Overload was a powerful force that squeezed the body’s stamina, pushing it into an overloaded state. While imposing a massive burden, it also vastly enhanced physical destructive power, granting a comprehensive boost of monstrous strength.

Of course, this power was actually a double-edged sword. Its reinforcement was precisely one of the reasons Gauss was able to outlast it. Once past the peak, if one failed to seize the opportunity to heavily injure the enemy, their own condition would rapidly decline.

Feeling the power of this Talent Ability, Gauss was certain that the Goblin Lord must possess another body recovery Racial Talent of the same level or stronger; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to sustain a prolonged battle at all.

The only thing that made Gauss feel it was a pity was that this overload only targeted the physical body. There was no sign of any amplification to Magic Power or other forces. Moreover, with another purple-quality Talent added, if he wanted to upgrade it, it would be equivalent to having another crying newborn waiting to be fed.

Perhaps not all Talents needed to be evolved to a higher level. Gauss rubbed his temples. If there were too many Talents, he would have to selectively advance his more core abilities.

As for the subjugation reward of the second main quest objective, it was the Divine Factor. This power similarly possessed immense potential. Gauss’s [Precision] Power of World Rules and his wishing mechanism both originated from this. Precision could vastly increase the hit rate and range of his long-range Spells. The wishing mechanism went without saying—whether used to draw rewards, for daily cultivation, or, like just now, to strengthen an attack and ultimately defeat a stronger foe, it was practically a bug-level ability.

Therefore, his attitude towards the Divine Factor was "the more, the better." The more Divine Factors he had, the stronger the effects of these two abilities would be. Furthermore, once he met a special stage like the previous 5% breakthrough, he might even master new abilities.

Seeing these rewards, the slightly exhausted Gauss felt much more relaxed. Coupled with the feeling that he could initiate a breakthrough at any time, his mood naturally became even more joyful under this double happiness.

However, now was not the right time for a breakthrough. He glanced at the chaotic battlefield around him. Right now, he had multiple choices.

The first was to throw himself into the slaughter of those Commander Level goblins and Extraordinary Goblins. The benefit was that he could obtain the Commander Points and Extraordinary Points he needed. But while the Commander Level ones were easy to deal with, killing the Extraordinary Goblins would take some effort.

Just because he had killed the level-15 Extraordinary Goblin Lord didn’t mean he could easily crush those two slightly weaker Extraordinary Goblins. One must know that his battle with the former had practically exhausted all his tricks. Now that the fierce battle was over, he was not in his peak condition, and his powerful wishing mechanism had already entered its cooldown. In addition, Magic Power could still be restored by absorbing massive amounts of Natural Magic, but the consumed bloodline energy of his Dragon King lineage could not be replenished in a short time.

The second choice was to slaughter the other goblins, heavily damaging the legion’s main forces head-on. The advantage of this choice was its extremely low risk. The other Extraordinary individuals were terrified of the formidable strength he had just displayed and most likely wouldn’t dare to stop him. He could kill a lot of low-level monsters, securing a total victory on this localized battlefield.

After pondering for a long time, Gauss chose the third course of action. That was to support President Monroe.

The loss of several thousand or even tens of thousands of goblins could not fundamentally affect the overall battle situation. The only thing that could decide the direction of a war was the victory or defeat of the top-tier combatants.

The other monsters had most likely fallen into a state of panic-stricken suspicion regarding his strength. Just how strong he was and how much of his peak condition he currently retained were unknowns. Especially those monsters far away from this battlefield; they didn’t even know the specific methods he had used to kill the Goblin General. Mystery and the unknown brought fear.

The first two choices could help him gain some personal benefits in a short time, but their aid to the overall battle situation would be minimal. Once his current "half-health" condition was exposed through combat, whether he could create a larger impact later would become a total unknown.

Thinking of this, the dragon wings on his back flapped rapidly. After diving down to collect the remains of the Extraordinary Goblin Lord, he forced himself to maintain maximum speed as he flew toward the distant location of the Rot-winged Dragon Bat, looking like a resplendent comet streaking across the night sky.

Tens of thousands of monsters below looked up and noticed his movements, falling into an uneasy psychological state. The only ones who might have breathed a sigh of relief were the Commander Level and Extraordinary Goblin individuals he had originally set his sights on.

That glaring flight trajectory placed all the pressure squarely on the Rot-winged Dragon Bat, Alex. Gauss’s attitude was displayed without any concealment. After the Goblin General Snaz, he also wanted the other general, the Rot-winged Dragon Bat, dead.

So, to retreat? Or not to retreat? That was the question.
