Chapter 654 - 368: Origin Gene

After a brief selection, Su Ze chose a Wing Race Origin Gene with only 1% completeness. He then drew it out of the Inheritance Crystal and began to absorb it.

As this was his first time attempting to absorb an Origin Gene, he decided to try his hand with the least difficult one first.

A plume of white mist drifted from the Inheritance Crystal and merged into Su Ze’s body.

After absorbing the mist, Su Ze felt an itching sensation all over his body for a moment. A few seconds later, it returned to normal.

He closed his eyes and focused, sensing a slight increase in his power.

It was an indescribable feeling—not a direct increase in his physical attributes, but a slight elevation in his life-form and gene level. This, in turn, caused a minuscule increase in the base stats of all his skills.

However, Su Ze also felt some foreign energy and Evolutionary Material accumulating in his body, which he would need to digest and absorb, much like when he absorbed extracts.

’The amount of accumulated Evolutionary Material isn’t much. It should be quick to digest.’

He knew, however, that this was just a 1% Origin Gene. If he were to absorb those with higher completeness, the digestion process would surely be much slower.

Su Ze didn’t rush to digest the Evolutionary Material in his body. Instead, he continued to draw out and absorb Origin Genes. He planned to accumulate more and only begin digesting it all at once when his body started to feel the strain.

He sifted through the more than two thousand genes within the Inheritance Crystal, starting by absorbing the Origin Genes with the lowest completeness.

An unknown amount of time passed before Su Ze stopped absorbing. He had already absorbed all the Origin Genes in the Inheritance Crystal with single-digit completeness. The rest all started at a minimum of 10% completeness.

He finally began to feel the pressure on his body and realized he couldn’t continue absorbing. He needed to digest the Evolutionary Material inside him first.

After awakening his Racial Talent, Su Ze’s speed at digesting Evolutionary Material was many times faster than before. If he added the bonus from the base’s training room, his digestion speed would be astonishing.

Even so, Su Ze chose a faster method: directly absorbing the golden energy from the Sands of Time.

He had excavated a large amount of the Sands of Time from the seabed of Blue Star. Aside from a small portion he had left for Mr. Ya, the rest was all with him, and he still had plenty in stock.

The golden energy within the Sands of Time was also effective for digesting Origin Genes. The Evolutionary Material accumulated in Su Ze’s body was rapidly digested.

Once the Evolutionary Material was fully digested, Su Ze’s consciousness plunged back into the Inheritance Crystal, continuing to draw out and absorb Origin Genes.

Within the entire Inheritance Crystal, only a minority of the more than two thousand Origin Genes had a completeness below 20%, numbering around three hundred.

The majority, conversely, had a completeness of over 50%.

This was likely related to Mr. Ao’s immense power; he had already collected over 50% of the Origin Genes for many races. In short, there weren’t many that Su Ze could currently absorb.

And so, day after day, Su Ze absorbed and digested. As time passed, he absorbed more and more Origin Genes, his power grew steadily, and his stored Sands of Time were consumed at a rapid pace.

Finally, when he had absorbed and digested all the Origin Genes he was capable of, he felt a certain sense of "saturation," or perhaps "completion."

’Have I met the requirement for Origin Gene completeness now? As long as I upgrade all my skills to the seventh tier and master an eighth-tier skill, I’ll meet the requirements for my eighth evolution.’

Su Ze knew he definitely hadn’t met the requirement for his own race’s Origin Gene. However, he had absorbed a large number of other races’ Origin Genes. A low completeness in his own race’s gene had to be supplemented with a large quantity of genes from other races.

Even after meeting the requirement, he could still continue to plunder the Origin Genes of other races. This would count as accumulating resources for the Moon God stage and wouldn’t have any negative impact.

The only limitation was that he couldn’t absorb the Origin Genes with higher completeness from the Inheritance Crystal.

Su Ze’s consciousness sank into his body, entering a state of Genetic Introspection.

He once again entered that blank world and saw the golden ring that symbolized his own race’s Origin Gene.

Within the ring, the illusory part took up about ninety percent, while the solid part was only ten percent. This meant his Human Race Origin Gene had a completeness of about 10%. Not long ago, it had been less than 10%, so it had grown.

The growth of one’s own race’s Origin Gene typically relied on increasing one’s power, the natural growth from each evolution, or plundering from one’s own kind and becoming a "defiled one."

Besides the golden ring, many other rings now appeared in the blank world, dotting the space above his head like a sky full of stars. There were just over three hundred of them, corresponding to the other races’ Origin Genes that Su Ze had absorbed.

Focusing on them, he saw that these overhead rings were also mostly illusory, with their solid parts making up less than twenty percent.

’It seems that every race’s Origin Gene I absorb will appear here from now on, and their completeness will be clear at a glance.’

This Genetic Introspection ability was quite useful.

This period of seclusion was very fulfilling; he had completed both of his goals: upgrading his skills and absorbing Origin Genes.

Su Ze planned to end his seclusion. But before that, he took out a piece of jade stone.

It was the Soul Nourishing Jade Stone that sealed the souls of Mu Wang and the Nian Race’s Sun God.

During his seclusion, Su Ze had frequently felt that Mu Wang seemed to be striking at the seal on the jade stone.

The Spirit Seal on the stone was only Legendary-grade. The current Su Ze could already set up a much stronger seal, but he hadn’t checked on Mu Wang in a long time and hadn’t thought about it.

Mu Wang was now just a Consciousness Body and couldn’t fully mobilize the soul of the Nian Race’s Sun God. He was completely incapable of breaking the seal; he was only doing this to attract Su Ze’s attention.
