I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 776: Witch Egg and Mutant Seed
Su Ze thought it over and decided it was a good idea. Just as he was about to agree, the Pope scoffed, “Is studying plants all you ever do? If we let you handle it, you’d just try to combine the Witch Race with plants again. Can’t you be a little more creative?”
Mage felt slighted and wanted to retort, but he opened his mouth, then closed it without saying a word…
Because the Pope was right. That was exactly what he’d been thinking.
Su Ze, however, was deep in thought.
To him, this Witch Egg had to be dealt with. Hatching it was unrealistic. Besides, even if he did get a Witch Race fighter—and the offspring of a top-tier Witch Race leader at that—he wouldn’t dare use it for fear of attracting trouble.
The Super Star was far more important to him than this Witch Egg. There was no way he would sacrifice the Super Star to hatch the Witch Egg.
“All right, first things first, we need to confirm whether the Witch Egg even exists. What if this is all just our speculation?” Su Ze paused. “Do you have any way to confirm its existence?”
The Pope shook his head. “There’s no other good way. Spiritual Power can’t penetrate it. The only option is to enter the star’s interior to find out.”
Su Ze’s face turned pale. Even he couldn’t do it, which meant no one else on Zexing could either.
Entering the interior of a Super Star and emerging unscathed was a feat perhaps only an Ancestral God could accomplish.
Suddenly, Su Ze’s eyes lit up. He had an idea!
‘Mr. Ao!’
The physical body Mr. Ao had left behind should be able to withstand the Super Star’s scorching heat. After all, it was the genuine body of a top-tier Ancestral God.
“Then we’ll wait until we get back to Zexing to discuss it further.”
…
After that, Su Ze was eager to return home. He couldn’t wait to get back to Zexing, as there were too many things he could only start once he was there.
Investigating the interior of the Super Star, obtaining more Chlorophyll Capsules to help him digest the Evolutionary Material in his body, and pushing for his ninth evolution…
Once he completed his ninth evolution, he planned to return to Blue Star to reclaim it from the Nian Race.
However, it was a long and arduous journey. The return trip was even longer than his original voyage from Blue Star to Zexing.
Su Ze halted all his anti-piracy operations and focused entirely on the journey.
He had nothing to do on the way. His skills were all fully upgraded, he had acquired new ones, and he had long since surpassed his goal for collecting Origin Genes.
The only thing he could do was enter seclusion to digest the Evolutionary Material in his body, but without Chlorophyll Capsules to complement the Super Star’s power, the process was excruciatingly slow.
Out of boredom, he began studying the Hundred-Change Flower Seed that Liou Wenxin had given him.
Liou Wenxin had given him a mutant Hundred-Change Flower seed that had so far refused to sprout.
Liou Wenxin had previously doused the seed with plenty of Evolutionary Liquid, but it hadn’t reacted at all.
Su Ze had plenty of Evolutionary Liquid on hand, so he poured a bottle on it too. The seed took it all, absorbing the liquid completely, but simply wouldn’t sprout.
‘I guess the only thing left to try is the light from the Super Star,’ he thought. ‘Maybe that will encourage it to sprout and grow.’
Su Ze moved the seed, flowerpot and all, into his Giant Spatial Artifact and exposed it to the light of the Super Star.
This time, there was indeed a change. It didn’t sprout, but the seed itself had actually grown slightly larger!
Su Ze could feel the seed greedily absorbing the Super Star Energy, so he moved it much closer to the Super Star, allowing it to receive even more energy.
Su Ze had initially worried that getting too close might cook the seed, but it didn’t. Instead, the seed grew even larger and pulsed with more vitality.
Su Ze frowned, unsure of what to do.
‘This thing just won’t sprout. What am I supposed to do? Keep it in the light, or what?’
Mage was the expert in this field, so Su Ze summoned him for his opinion.
Mage was fascinated by the Mutant Seed, especially after learning it came from a Hundred-Change Flower. He enthusiastically began his research, using various instruments to test the seed’s condition.
As the cultivator of the Hundred-Change Flower, Mage knew more about it than anyone. After a round of tests and analysis, he had a clear idea of the seed’s condition.
“What an ambitious little fellow!” Mage praised with a smile.
“You mean?”
“This seed!”
Mage thought for a moment about how to explain it to a layman like Su Ze. He gathered his thoughts before saying:
“The Hundred-Change Flower is a Spiritual Plant, so it’s inherently conscious. This Mutant Seed is exceptionally gifted, and its consciousness is more mature than a typical Spiritual Plant’s at this stage. It’s actually accumulated enough energy to sprout already, but it’s not satisfied.
“It’s in a very special state. This mutant’s future potential depends entirely on the energy it can accumulate during its seed stage. The stronger a foundation it lays now, the faster it will grow and the higher its ceiling will be in the future.”
Su Ze raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile, “And just how big is its appetite?”
“That depends on how much you’re willing to feed it, Boss. This little fellow is extremely malleable, and its appetite is astounding. This seed phase will probably last for a few more months. Once this period is over, its potential will be set.”
Su Ze nodded. Hearing Mage’s explanation, he realized he had underestimated this Mutant Seed.
The Mutant Seed’s potential exceeded his expectations. It might just become a powerful asset in the future.
Since the Mutant Seed was so ambitious, Su Ze didn’t mind giving it a push. Not caring whether its faint consciousness could understand, he sent a telepathic message to it:
“Stay here under the Super Star until we return to Zexing. If you’re still not full when we arrive, I’ll feed you something big!”
With that said, he sent the Mutant Seed into the Giant Spatial Artifact, placing it relatively close to the Super Star.
Strangely enough, the delicate seed was unafraid of the sunlight that even Su Ze found scorching.
“Boss, are you thinking…” Mage asked tentatively, seeming to have realized something.
“That’s right.” Su Ze nodded. “If it can take it, I’m going to feed it the Witch Egg.”
