Then David continued speaking.

"The preliminary round will have a total of 845 participants. They will be given one full day to search for ten flags that have been scattered and hidden throughout the entire area."

He pointed toward the four large screens.

"You see those ten red marks?"

Mo Yuan looked at the screens and nodded.

"Those are the locations of the ten flags. Of course, the participants won’t be shown their exact locations. They will have to find them on their own."

David paused for a moment before continuing.

"Anyone who obtains one of the flags will instantly qualify for the final battle round."

Mo Yuan raised an eyebrow.

"That sounds quite simple."

"Haha, it is not as simple as you think."

David smiled.

"Once someone obtains a flag, they are not allowed to put it inside a storage ring or hide it somewhere on their body. The flag must be attached somewhere visible, so everyone around them can see that they possess one."

Mo Yuan immediately understood.

That meant anyone carrying a flag would become a target.

David continued, "Fighting is allowed. In fact, once someone gets a flag, they should expect others to come after them. However, killing is strictly forbidden. If someone is seriously injured, the tournament staff will immediately intervene."

"Also, the participant must still be holding the flag when the preliminary round ends. If someone steals the flag from them before the time is up, their qualification will be lost."

Mo Yuan nodded slowly.

"So even after obtaining a flag, they still have to protect it for the entire day."

"Exactly."

Mo Yuan looked at the ten red marks on the screen.

There were 845 participants, yet only ten people could qualify through the flags.

That meant the competition would be extremely fierce.

"Only fifty people will qualify out of 845?" Mo Yuan asked. "That is a very small number."

"Indeed."

David nodded.

"But that is how we make sure that only those with the highest potential enter the Secret Realm."

Mo Yuan thought for a moment before asking another question.

"If ten people qualify by obtaining the flags, what about the remaining forty spots?"

David’s smile became slightly wider.

"That is the difficult part."

He pointed toward the forest displayed on the screen.

"The remaining participants will have to hunt beasts for points. We deliberately left some beasts inside the selected area for this purpose."

Mo Yuan’s eyes lit up slightly.

David continued explaining.

"Low-level beasts are worth one point. Intermediate-level beasts are worth two points. Advanced-level beasts are worth three points, while High-level beasts are worth four points."

"The top forty participants with the highest number of points will qualify for the final battle round."

Mo Yuan nodded.

That meant the participants had two choices.

They could search for one of the ten flags and fight everyone who came after them or they could focus on hunting beasts and collect as many points as possible.

However, there was one more rule.

"To prevent anyone from making false claims about their points, every beast killed must be verified."

David continued, "When the preliminary round ends, the participants must bring back a recognizable part of every beast they killed. The parts will be checked before their points are counted."

Hearing this, Mo Yuan suddenly remembered something.

Back when he was still in the academy, he had also participated in a similar competition where participants had to hunt beasts and collect points.

It seemed that competitions like this were quite common among cultivators.

Mo Yuan thought for a moment before asking another question.

"What happens if someone obtains a flag and also ranks among the top forty in beast points?"

He looked at David.

"Wouldn’t that waste one of the fifty spots?"

David nodded.

"That is why there is another rule."

"If someone obtains a flag, their beast-hunting points will not be counted."

Mo Yuan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

"So they can only choose one?"

"Exactly, flag or beast points. They cannot use both."

"I see."

Mo Yuan finally understood the entire system.

The rules were quite simple but the competition itself would definitely be intense.

Ten flags.

Forty spots based on beast points.

Eight hundred and forty-five young cultivators and only fifty of them would be allowed to enter the final battle round.

Mo Yuan looked at the huge forest displayed on the screens.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

This tournament was finally starting to become interesting.

Mo Yuan looked at David and suddenly remembered something.

"Senior David, are the other seniors also coming?"

"Qin Jiang will be stationed near the wilderness area," David replied. "With his Origin Sense spread out, he will be able to monitor the entire battlefield. That way, we can make sure no one cheats or breaks the rules."

Mo Yuan nodded.

Qin Jiang was the Qin Family’s leader and a powerful Sovereign Realm cultivator. With his strength, watching over hundreds of young cultivators would not be difficult.

"Bai Chuan and Mu Bai should also be here in a few minutes. Once they arrive, the four of us can watch the tournament together from here."

David leaned back in his chair.

"The preliminary round will begin in about two hours and continue until tomorrow. So if you have something else to do, you can leave for now. Most of the preliminary round will probably be quite boring."

He then looked at Mo Yuan and laughed.

"The real fun will begin during the second round. That is when you might see some talented young geniuses."

David paused for a moment before adding with a smile, "Of course, they won’t be anywhere near as good as you."

Mo Yuan smiled helplessly.

"Senior David, you are exaggerating."

"Haha, I’m only telling the truth."

"There is no problem anyway. I have nothing else to do, so I’ll just stay here and watch the entire tournament."

Mo Yuan had already finished his cultivation and had no urgent matters to deal with. He was also somewhat interested in seeing the young geniuses of Cang Lan Base.

Soon, the two of them sat down and waited for the other Sovereign Realm cultivators to arrive.

While waiting, Mo Yuan casually chatted with David.

After a while, he suddenly remembered something he had been thinking about.

"Senior David, I wanted to ask you something related to cultivation."

David raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? What is it?"

Mo Yuan hesitated for a moment before saying,

"It is about this..."
