I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1895 - 1023: Mistra’s Fury (Part 2)
Chapter 1895: Chapter 1023: Mistra’s Fury (Part 2)
Above the empty ruins of the Floating City, only Mistra remained frozen in place, her right hand still hanging in midair, maintaining a stabbing posture.
After a brief dead silence, a low, indifferent voice slowly came from behind the shattered high-rise ruins in the distance:
"I actually wanted to have a proper talk with you."
As the words fell, black mist abruptly gathered and churned behind the jumble of rocks, strands of pitch-black energy entwining and weaving together, gradually condensing into a tall, slender humanoid silhouette.
Lis stepped slowly out of the Shadow, his gaze calmly fixed on Mistra not far away.
Her expression was composed, without a trace of panic.
From the very start, the one standing before Mistra had only been a Mirror Body Avatar he had summoned by expending Magic Power.
He knew how dangerous this place was; he would never casually place his true self in a perilous situation.
That apparent close-range standoff just now had merely been bait he used to probe the opponent.
However, Lis had wanted to try getting more information out of Mistra, but although the Mirror Body Avatar was special, it was still quickly seen through by her.
That light, offhand remark completely ignited the anger that had been piling up in Mistra’s heart.
Treated as a chess piece and toyed with at will, her own plans having all fallen apart.
This unprecedented sense of humiliation instantly shattered all of Mistra’s reason.
"You damned bastard!!"
A shrill, furious cry rang across the entire stretch of ruins, completely tearing apart the deathly silence here.
Mistra, who had previously seemed as Holy and noble as a Goddess, now underwent a drastic transformation in appearance.
Her once sleek and lustrous golden hair suddenly lost its sheen, turning into a dull, ink-black mass; the strands twisted and swelled uncontrollably, flaring out wildly in midair.
Every strand of hair was hard as steel needles, yet writhed and squirmed like countless venomous snakes that had lain in wait for ages, ready to bite, emanating a chilling, murderous aura.
That flawless, breathtaking face was now distorted by sheer wrath, muscles contorting, veins faintly bulging.
Her delicate features twisted into a feral snarl; all the gentleness and Holiness in her eyes had vanished, leaving only endless brutality and madness.
Her pure Holy Divine Robe billowed without wind, the Holy patterns engraved upon its surface dimming and shattering one by one, only to be overlaid by pitch-black, violent Divine Power markings.
Dense dark-purple Divine Power erupted from her body like a tsunami, sweeping across heaven and earth; the rubble on the ground was lifted by invisible Divine Power and exploded thunderously in midair.
The Mistra of this moment no longer possessed the slightest trace of a god’s gentle sanctity; she had utterly fallen into a rampaging beast consumed by rage, knowing only Slaughter.
"Kill you kill you kill you kill you!"
Mistra’s eyes burned scarlet, her pupils narrowed into vertical slits, and the dark-purple Divine Power around her condensed into several sharp, vicious claws.
The Divine Power beneath her feet suddenly detonated, and her entire figure turned into a streak of lightning, bursting through layers of Qi currents as she charged straight toward Lis.
Her speed was pushed to its limit; the broken walls and shattered beams along her path crumbled in an instant under the violent impact, debris flying through the air. In her heart, only a single thought remained.
And that was to tear this man to pieces, to make him pay a dreadful price, to wash away the humiliation she had suffered.
Faced with Mistra’s ferocious onslaught, her reason already lost, Lis’s expression did not change, but his mind was crystal clear.
As expected, still a monster; everything just now had been an act.
Once she went Out of Control, there would be no reason whatsoever, and no possibility of communication.
In the next second, Magic Power surged under Lis’s feet, his form abruptly turning ethereal as he easily slipped past Mistra’s enraged, lethal strike.
A thunderous boom erupted; Mistra’s claws slammed savagely down on the ruins behind Lis.
The heavy rocks collapsed and shattered in an instant, rubble and Dust geysering skyward, the destructive power utterly terrifying.
Mistra’s offensive was wild and overbearing, every move aimed straight at Lis’s vital points, each strike carrying enough Strength to severely injure him.
However, Mistra seemed like a wild beast, acting purely on instinct, showing no other form of ability.
Lis, on the other hand, focused entirely on weaving and dodging, his figure elusive, using the ruined terrain to constantly pull away, never giving Mistra the chance to engage him head-on.
After exchanging for a short while, Lis realized that simply dodging was pointless; the Mistra before him showed absolutely no reaction.
He raised his right hand; vast Magic Power instantly gathered in his palm, multiple elemental power Attributes stirring at once, and the surrounding air temperature changed dramatically.
A scarlet Fireball roared out, followed closely by winter’s chill that could Ice Sealing all things, and piercing thunder that shook the sky...
Multiple High-level Spells layered atop one another, covering a huge area, sealing off all of Mistra’s angles of evasion.
Yet the expected clash of elements and Divine Power did not occur.
When all the Spells were only inches away from Mistra, they seemed to collide with an invisible barrier.
The light of the Spells rapidly dimmed and then silently dissolved into the air, without even causing a ripple.
Lis’s eyes tightened slightly, his heart sinking a fraction.
Even having fallen into madness, the[Magic]Divine Position Mistra wielded could still function.
Any Spell before her was rendered useless, inherently subjected to absolute negation.
Refusing to accept this, Lis stirred the semi-finished Divine Power within his body and buffed it onto the Spells; the dual forces merged, forging an attack far more potent than ordinary High-level Spells.
A pitch-black beam tore through the air, shooting straight at Mistra’s face, yet the outcome remained unchanged.
When the Magic Power touched the Divine Power Domain surrounding Mistra, it was silently neutralized, unable to harm her in the slightest.
Seeing this from afar, Mistra’s twisted face broke into a cruel, deranged grin. She abandoned all Defense and accelerated once more as she charged Lis:
"Let’s see how long you can keep dodging!"
"All Magic before me is nothing but a joke!"
Lis glanced at Mistra, slightly surprised.
She still has some awareness?
Soon, Lis smoothed away the strange flicker in his eyes and slowly withdrew his casting hand, his gaze grave as it locked onto the ever-approaching Mistra.
The Moonlight Holy Grail slowly floated up at Lis’s side, silver moonlight streaming out from within, suffused with thick, pure Life and Nature Divine Power.
A vast halo surged down like a tidal wave, completely enveloping Lis, layer upon layer of Divine Power barriers automatically forming, stacking multiple layers of Divine Protection over him.
Various buff effects poured ceaselessly into Lis’s body, instantly mending the impacts he had suffered earlier while simultaneously driving his physical potential to the extreme.
Lis ceased all Spells attacking Mistra.
No matter how he probed, against Mistra who held the[Magic]Divine Position, any Magic Attack yielded negligible results.
Using the gaps between his evasions, Lis allowed the Divine Power of the Moonlight Holy Grail to fully soak into his flesh; his bones and sinews roared and trembled under the Divine Power’s nourishment.
Every muscle in his body was drawn taut to the limit, brimming with immense explosive Strength.
Once the brief adjustment ended, Lis’s gaze turned razor-sharp; his right hand suddenly gripped the hilt of a Longsword that materialized into being.
With a crisp Sword cry, a biting silver-white Sword light shattered the shackles of the air.
Since Magic could not break the stalemate, then he would abandon Magic and decide victory with the most primal, most direct form of close-quarters combat.
Magic, at this moment, was best used to enhance his own Status!
Through the earlier rounds of probing attack and defense, he had already seen through Mistra’s trump cards.
Her Divine Power reserves were immense, but aside from the buff from the[Magic]Divine Position, her physical durability and close-combat ability had not broken past the limits of a Divine being.
Even if Mistra’s raw Divine Power total surpassed his own, on the close-combat battlefield her weaknesses were glaring.
Such a tactic-less way of fighting, in Lis’s eyes, was riddled with flaws.
In this situation, Lis was confident he could hit Mistra hard in close-quarters combat.
Even so, Lis remained inwardly on guard.
The opponent certainly wouldn’t only have these methods; Lis suspected that this frenzied Status of hers might well be an act.
If something else were to happen later, Lis felt he wouldn’t be surprised at all.
