Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Rebirth

Lucian’s consciousness snapped back to the present.

He stood in the ruined tomb. His body was whole. His left arm was regrown. He flexed his fingers.

He looked down at his hands.

And then he felt it.

A fourth Star Palace materialized in his Sea of Consciousness. The impact shook his entire spiritual architecture. His three existing palaces — Light of Dawn, Crimson Origin, Mind Palace — trembled. Shifted and made room.

The fourth palace was different.

A black hole in the shape of a star — dark, infinite, consuming the ambient mana around it in a slow, relentless pull. The edges of the palace were undefined, flickering, as if the structure itself wasn’t fully stable in physical space. It existed between presence and absence. A void given form.

The system materialized beside him. The small white figure floated at eye level. Its perpetual amusement replaced by exhaustion. Its form was flickering.

It spoke with a tired voice. "Welcome back to the world of the living."

Lucian was silent for a moment.

"Thanks," he said.

The system waved its hand weakly. "I’ll be going to sleep for a while. You won’t have access to the inner training space during that time. But the system shop and other system functions are still available."

Lucian nodded slowly. "How long?"

"Don’t know. Don’t care. I’m tired. Wake me when something interesting happens."

The system dissolved — its white form breaking apart into particles of light that sank into Lucian’s body.

Lucian stood alone in the ruined tomb.

He looked around.

Lucian walked to the exit and emerged into the Greek sunlight.

He stood on a hillside overlooking Athens. But the city below wasn’t peaceful. In the distance, buildings burned. Plumes of smoke rose from multiple districts. The sounds of screaming, of explosions, of chaos echoed faintly across the hills.

Lucian watched the burning city for a long moment. His crimson eyes reflected the distant fires.

A month went by.

The world changed. News of Athens falling to "unknown forces" spread across every continent. The World Government deployed military divisions. Hunter Guilds mobilized. Academies increased their security. But nobody knew what had actually happened — nobody human, at least. The Dark King’s existence remained hidden. His apostles moved in secret. The vampire families returned to their domains and waited.

Lucian spent the month recovering. His body had been resurrected, but the toll was significant. His mana needed time to stabilize at the Grand Core level.=

He trained. Alone. In isolated areas — mountains, forests, abandoned ruins. He tested his new abilities.

He also tested his cultivation. Early Grand Core Realm. The difference between Peak Core and Grand Core was a huge gap.

Paris. France.

A figure in black clothing and a hoodie stood in front of a massive, luxurious mansion. The Chevalier estate.

Two guards stood at the main gate. Both radiated Peak Core Realm aura. Their eyes scanned the hooded figure with suspicion.

"State your purpose," the first guard said.

"Is Rose up?"

"What do you want with the young lady?"

"Just tell her a friend came to see her."

"What’s your name?"

"It doesn’t matter."

The guard’s expression tightened. His hand moved toward the communication device on his belt. The second guard made a gesture. The first guard nodded and walked toward the mansion, leaving the second to watch the hooded figure.

The figure waited. His hands in his pockets. His hood pulled low over his face.

Minutes passed.

Inside the mansion, the guard reached a maid and delivered the message. The maid climbed the stairs to Rose’s room and knocked.

"Young lady. Someone is at the gate asking for you. He wouldn’t give his name."

Rose’s voice came from inside — muffled and lifeless. "If it’s not Clara or Ryan, I’m not in the mood to see anyone."

The maid left.

The figure at the gate waited. Then he moved.

He walked forward. He passed the second guard without stopping. The guard’s eyes glazed over — pupils dilating, body going rigid, consciousness slipping into a daze. The guard stood frozen.

The figure entered the mansion grounds.

Every guard he passed entered the same daze. As if their minds had been gently set aside.

The figure walked through the familiar hallways.

He spotted Arthur in the courtyard.

Arthur was training.

The maid who had been walking toward Arthur to deliver a message stopped. Her eyes glazed over. She stood frozen in the hallway.

The figure called out. "Hey, Arthur."

Arthur turned. His sword lowered. His eyes found the hooded figure.

The figure removed his hoodie.

Silver hair — longer than Arthur remembered, falling past his shoulders. A small beard, making him look older. Handsome features that had matured over the months.

Arthur’s eyes widened. His sword clattered to the ground.

"Lucian? Is that you?"

Lucian smiled. "How are you, man?"

Arthur crossed the courtyard in three strides. His face broke into a grin. He grabbed Lucian’s shoulder.

"Where’ve you been? Rose has been looking for you every single day. I thought you were already dead."

Lucian’s smile softened. "I’m not dying anytime soon." He glanced toward the mansion. "By the way, where’s Rose? I waited at the gate for a while, but she didn’t come."

Arthur looked toward the upstairs windows. "She should be upstairs. Check her room." He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Mom and Dad aren’t around."

Lucian shook his head with a smile. He walked past Arthur, into the mansion, and up the stairs as he arrived at Rose’s door.

He opened it.

Rose was sitting on her bed. Her red hair was loose, uncombed, falling around her face. Her eyes were red. She wore an oversized sweater and leggings.

She turned.

Her eyes widened.

The book she’d been holding slipped from her fingers and hit the floor with a soft THUD.

Tears welled in her eyes.

"Lucian —"

She was off the bed and across the room in a heartbeat. Her arms wrapped around him. Her face pressed into his chest.

"You’re alive. You’re alive. You’re alive."

She repeated the words like a prayer. Like a mantra.

Lucian’s arms wrapped around her. His hand stroking her red hair.
