I Awakened The Ancient Vampire System
Chapter 255: The Tower of Primordial Ascension
Chapter 255: Chapter 255: The Tower of Primordial Ascension
The journey to Paris had been a nerve-wracking ordeal. Traveling through the French countryside, Lucian, Lemora, and Lena had to avoid countless military checkpoints and hunter patrols. The World Government had wasted no time in mobilizing its forces. Every major city was on high alert, and Lucian’s face, a perfectly rendered holographic portrait, was plastered on every news channel and public bulletin.
They had to stick to the shadows, using Lucian’s Light Prism to render them invisible whenever a patrol got too close. By the time they reached the outskirts of Paris, the tension had worn them all thin.
Lucian had deliberately chosen a discreet, run-down hotel on the outskirts of the city rather than the Chevalier mansion. He couldn’t risk the Chevalier family being implicated for harboring a fugitive.
He knocked on the door of Room 42, a specific rhythm they had agreed upon.
The door swung open instantly, and a blur of red hair and green energy slammed into his chest.
"Lucian!" Rose cried out, her voice cracking with raw emotion. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder. "You’re okay."
Lucian wrapped his arms around her, inhaling the familiar, comforting scent of her hair.
Behind her, Mickey Adeyemi leaned against the wall, a relieved grin on his face. "Man, you really know how to cause a worldwide panic, don’t you? Good to see you in one piece, boss."
Iris was seated at a small table. She gave a curt nod, her sharp eyes scanning him for injuries. "Your vitals seem stable. I assume the Origin Realm cultivator didn’t cause permanent damage?"
"Nothing a good night’s sleep couldn’t fix," Lucian replied, pulling back from Rose.
That was when Rose’s eyes drifted past Lucian’s shoulder. Her expression instantly hardened, her green eyes narrowing with venomous hostility.
Standing by the door, dressed in her elegant, dark robes, was Lemora. She gave Rose a polite, little wave.
"What is she doing here?" Rose demanded, her voice dripping with ice. The air in the room instantly grew tense. Mickey and Iris exchanged uneasy glances.
Lucian opened his mouth, but Lemora beat him to it. "I’m here because I saved his life, Rose. Perhaps a ’thank you’ is in order?" Lemora’s tone was sweet, but the underlying smugness was unmistakable.
Rose’s eye twitched. "You? Saved him? Your mother is probably the one who tried to kill him!"
"Exactly," Lucian quickly intervened before Lemora could start a catfight. He stepped between them, holding up his hands. "Lemora saved me, Rose."
Rose stared at him, her eyes wide.
"Fine," Rose huffed, crossing her arms defensively. "She saved you. But don’t expect me to like her. I don’t trust her. The moment she steps out of line, I’ll put an Aegis barrier through her skull."
Lemora merely smiled, bowing her head slightly. "I would expect nothing less from Lucian’s other women. I will remain on my best behavior."
Lucian sighed, rubbing his temples. This is going to be a headache.
He turned to Lena, who was leaning against the wall, still looking pale but much better than before. "Lena, it’s time."
Lena’s expression fell. She walked up to her brother, her green eyes filled with stubborn defiance. "I still don’t like this."
"I know," Lucian said softly, pulling her into a final, tight embrace. "But the Church is safe. The World Government won’t dare to breach their neutrality. Go there, recover, and get stronger. I promise I will come for you."
Lena pulled back, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. "You better. If you die, I’ll go to the Underworld just to kick your ass."
"I’ll hold you to that," Lucian smirked.
With one last hug, Lena departed.
Once the door closed, the atmosphere in the room grew grim. Lucian turned to the others, his expression hardening. "Alright. Bring me up to speed."
Rose walked over to the table and activated a small, holographic projector. Instantly, a massive, scrolling feed of news articles and government documents appeared.
"But that’s not all," Iris chimed in, stepping away from her exoskeleton. "The Knights of the Horizon are in ruins. Miss Solstice is dead. The Council heads are dead. The survivors are scattered and terrified. And because the evidence points to you being the mole, the remnants of the Knights are being forced to hunt you down to clear their own names."
"Great," Lucian muttered sarcastically. "So I’m public enemy number one, the Dark Order wants me dead, and the people who used to be my allies are now my enemies."
"Not all of them," Rose corrected. She swiped the holographic screen, bringing up a massive, swirling blue anomaly located in the middle of the ocean. "While I was with my father, I used his World Government connections and Iris’s data network to dig deeper into the classified archives. Lucian... there’s something massive about to happen."
Lucian leaned in, studying the projection. "What is that?"
Rose took a deep breath. "It’s called the Tower of Primordial Ascension. It’s an ancient inheritance ground, an artifact left behind by extinct, god-tier civilizations. According to the archives, it opens once every 200 years. And it’s located right here on Earth."
"Where?" Lucian asked, his eyes narrowing.
"The Bermuda Triangle," Rose revealed. "That’s the reason for centuries of ship and plane disappearances. The tower’s temporal distortions have been leaking out for millennia. When it fully opens, a massive spatial rift will appear in the triangle."
Lucian stared at the projection, the pieces falling into place.
"What’s inside?" he asked.
"Everything," Rose said, her voice filled with awe and fear. "I’m talking about God-tier treasures and artifacts. Ancient cultivation techniques from civilizations long dead. Bloodline evolution pools—pools that can forcibly evolve a bloodline to a higher grade."
Lucian’s heart skipped a beat. Bloodline evolution pools.
"It gets better," Rose continued. "The tower has multiple floors, each more dangerous than the last. It’s filled with beasts that have been trapped inside for millennia. But the deeper you go, the better the rewards."
Lucian paced back and forth. The Dark King. It suddenly made perfect sense. Why was the Dark King still on Earth? He was a powerful cultivator far above any cultivator on Earth, a being of immense power. Earth was a backwater, low-tier planet. There was nothing here for him.
Unless he’s been waiting for this.
Lucian then asked, "When is it opening?"
Rose nodded grimly. "The Tower opens in exactly one month and one week."
Lucian rubbed his chin, deep in thought. "Where’s Arthur?"
"He went to the Starveil Tower in New Geneva," Rose answered.
Lucian then thought, I guess he’s been obsessed with getting stronger. Afterall, most of us have already surpassed him. Arthur was still at least at the late grand core realm but even Mickey and Rose were about to reach the peak grand core realm.
Lucian sighed. A month and a week. That wasn’t a lot of time. And if the Dark King and his apostles were going to be there, it would be a bloodbath.
He grabbed his coat from the back of the chair.
Rose’s eyes widened. "Where are you going?"
"I need to clear my head. There’s something I have to do," Lucian said, walking towards the door. "I’ll be gone for a few days, no more than a week. I’ll be back in time to prepare for the Tower."
"Lucian..." Rose’s voice trembled with worry. "You’re a wanted man. Where could you possibly go?"
Lucian paused, turning back to her. He cupped her face in his hands and planted a gentle, lingering kiss on her lips. Rose melted into him, her fears momentarily quieted.
He pulled back, a confident, arrogant smile on his face. "Haven’t I always come back alive, Rose?"
Rose bit her lip, her eyes filled with reluctance. "...Fine."
Lucian chuckled, stepping out the door. Lemora moved to follow him, but Lucian held up a hand, stopping her in her tracks.
"Not this time, Lemora. This is something I have to do alone. Stay here and help Rose and Iris."
Lemora pouted, but nodded obediently. "Be safe."
Lucian walked out of the hotel and into the cool Parisian night. He traveled to a massive, empty field on the outskirts of the city. The moon was high in the sky, illuminating the grassy plains.
He raised his hand, channeling his mana into the beast summoning space.
CRACK!
A massive tear in space opened, and a deafening roar shook the ground. The Dark Wyvern stepped out, its midnight scales gleaming under the moonlight. It lowered its head, allowing Lucian to mount it.
Lucian gripped the beast’s scales, his crimson eyes fixed on the horizon.
"Let’s go," Lucian commanded.
With a powerful flap of its wings, the Dark Wyvern launched into the sky, carrying Lucian into the night.
