Chapter 1058, The Beast Flock
Chapter 1058, The Beast Flock

Yan Hua sat astride the Peak Eagle, sweeping her gaze across everything in the sky as she searched for a suitable target.
Though the Hunting Ground was home to all manner of creatures and the skies held no shortage of flying Ferocious Beasts, she had yet to spot anything truly fitting.
Some were too large, others too small. None were really suitable to serve as a transportation vehicle.
“Searching like this is far too aimless.” Yan Hua sighed.
*Screech screech screech…*
The Peak Eagle cried out too, signalling how futile their efforts were, yet continued flying about the sky regardless.
“Should we land and rest for a bit? Or are you not tired?” Yan Hua asked.
*Screech! Screech! Screech!*
The Peak Eagle called three times and kept flying, not showing the slightest inclination to land. It was expressing that it was not tired in the least.
“Alright, since you’re not tired, let us keep looking. Perhaps we’ll finally find one if we continue for a bit longer.” Yan Hua immediately rallied her spirits.
The Peak Eagle began changing direction, climbing ever higher, attempting to survey from a greater altitude in hopes of spotting more distant targets.
Yan Hua had been planning all along to use the method both Sha Lan and her had come up with to Tame Ferocious Beasts, which was leaping from a high altitude onto the beast’s back, then immediately using the Taming Shaman Bone Tablet to Tame it.
Of course, the ideal was beautiful and the reality was harsh. Though it did sound like something possible to do, it was fraught with danger.
As the Peak Eagle climbed higher and higher, Yan Hua’s field of vision grew broader and broader, and with her telescope she could see much further still.
She had been wearing goggles while flying at altitude, so there was no need to worry about the oncoming wind causing her discomfort.
One Human and one bird soared high in the sky, with everything below laid out in full view.
When Yan Hua swept her telescope towards the west, she suddenly froze.
Worried she might not be seeing clearly, she quickly rubbed her eyes, hoping to get a clearer look.
What she saw once she looked more carefully nearly gave Yan Hua a tremendous fright. It was a dense swarm of large Ferocious Beasts heading in her direction.
Yan Hua could only make out the enormous silhouettes; she could not tell their specific species.
The reason she had frozen was that the physiques of these Ferocious Beasts were simply too enormous.
And the direction they were flying was straight towards her…
If these beasts spotted them, there was no question they would be devoured.
“Ah Hen, quickly descend! We cannot afford to provoke this flock!” Yan Hua called out.
She had originally intended to follow the battle plan, but witnessing this situation, she had to abandon the idea.
*Screech! Screech! Screech!*
The Peak Eagle also recognised that the distant flock was not to be trifled with, and after a few cries began slowly descending.
In the blink of an eye, they had already landed below, then found a large tree to hide behind.
Yan Hua peered up at the sky through the gaps between the leaves, observing the flight trajectory of this beast flock.
She had not wanted to give up initially, thinking there might be a more suitable opportunity to Tame one or two of them.
Taming even one or two from such a large flock would be remarkable, to say nothing of Taming an entire flock.
*Whoosh whoosh…*
Wave after wave of wing-beats sounded, as though great typhoons were being unleashed.
The entire flock was drawing closer, causing every Ferocious Beast and wild creature in the surrounding area to go into hiding.
After all, no one wished to provoke this enormous flock at a time like this. They looked large to the naked eye, and that was not even mentioning the sheer power they radiated.
Each and every beast in this flock was without question above the Pure Blood Ferocious Beast tier.
Though they were not extraordinarily high in rank, their sheer size alone was enough to make most Ferocious Beasts pause. Worse, this was an entire flock of them.
“So they are Grey Feathered Giant Birds. No wonder it is such a large flock.” Yan Hua had finally made out the true identity of the creatures.
Though there was still some distance between her and the beasts, Yan Hua’s telescope gave her a much clearer view.
Grey Feathered Giant Birds were Collectivistic Ferocious Beasts. When young, their size was nothing extraordinary. They were only somewhat larger than an eagle.
But as their rank gradually increased, their physiques grew ever more enormous.
A Grey Feathered Giant Bird, when became a Pure Blood Ferocious Beast, would be the size of a large bus, capable of carrying ten to twenty people on its back.
This species was generally very docile in temperament. However, a Ferocious Beast was still a Ferocious Beast, and when food was placed before them, they would still show tremendous savagery.
Outside of that, however, these beasts would never provoke any other creature of their own accord, only taking the initiative to strike when hungry.
It was precisely for this reason that Yan Hua let out a sigh of relief. It meant that this species of Ferocious Beast would be comparatively easy to Tame.
When the time came, she would only need to wait for any stragglers in the flock, or find some that were flying slower at the rear.
“Ah Hen, our opportunity has come! Get ready to follow my commands at any moment.” Yan Hua began mapping out the route for what was to come.
*Screech! Screech! Screech!*
The Peak Eagle called out softly, signalling that it had understood, then kept its gaze fixed on the approaching flock in the sky above.
The flock, which had seemed so distant at first, was now very close indeed. They would soon be flying directly overhead.
*Whoosh whoosh…*
Wave after wave of powerful wind buffeted the trees below. The more fragile ones snapped clean in the gale, and some were even uprooted entirely.
One could well imagine the sheer power of these Ferocious Beasts. Looking around, not a single creature dared approach the perimeter of the flock.
Several minutes later, the Grey Feathered Giant Bird flock passed directly overhead, including the very last few at the tail of the formation.
Yan Hua observed with great clarity that these beasts did not look back as they flew forward.
She gripped the Peak Eagle’s feathers tightly with both hands. “Go! Quickly fly up and follow behind them.”
*Screech! Screech! Screech!*
The Peak Eagle’s clear call rang out, and it immediately launched into the air, ascending to altitude at maximum speed.
But it was no fool. The entire movement flowed as smoothly as a running stream, without making too great a disturbance.
“Fly to maximum altitude and proceed as planned. The target is the rearmost Grey Feathered Giant Bird.” Yan Hua slowly lowered her body.
Since she was preparing to gather momentum for an upward burst, she had to press her body flat against the Peak Eagle’s back. This would reduce wind resistance and allow for a quicker ascend.
*Screech! Screech! Screech!*
The Peak Eagle spread its wings wide and taut, flying to great altitude at maximum speed, then gave chase behind the flock. This was all so that this plan could proceed without any issues.
