I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?
Chapter 777: A Feast for the Eyes
The crowd stared in astonishment as Xiliu Yuan sat down.
’What on earth is happening today? To think this great personage from Xi Yan would actually sit down in the middle of a crowd. So much for the rumors about him enjoying his peace and quiet.’
"It depends on the person, not the situation," Xiliu Yuan said faintly.
The moment he said this, the expressions of the others at the table shifted.
Sang Zhi’s eyes darkened instantly.
"Heh, I’m truly honored then," Ye Qianning said, placing her hand on Sang Zhi’s wrist.
Sang Zhi paused. He then turned his hand over, enveloping Ye Qianning’s smaller one in his grasp. It was warm, and a smile spread across his face.
Ye Qianning had only meant to remind him not to be so prickly, but she hadn’t expected this move. When she tried to pull her hand back, he only held it tighter.
Xiliu Yuan shot them a faint glance before his gaze drifted into the distance.
At this moment, besides the CLANGING and BANGING of destruction, the crowd of onlookers on the shore was completely silent, staring blankly at the seated group.
Their minds were reeling...
’Gods... these people are a feast for the eyes!
Every single one of them is absolutely divine!’
The several hundred men at the port were huffing and puffing, smashing everything in sight just to get their attention. But who would have thought? The boss showed up and didn’t even spare them a glance, instead just sitting down to chat as if nothing was wrong.
Furious, they started smashing the fishing boats docked at the port, too.
"Hey, stop it! Why are you smashing my boat?"
"Stop! We’re just here to transport seafood!"
"..."
The ship owners watched in horror as the mob started smashing their merchant vessels. Unable to stop them, many of the owners could only turn to Boss Gu for help.
"Boss Gu, please say something! If this goes on, our ships will be ruined!"
"Boss Gu, don’t drag us into your dispute!"
"We’re all just trying to do business... This isn’t easy on anyone, Boss Gu..."
The twenty or so ship owners caught in the crossfire were on the verge of tears as they watched their vessels get damaged.
"CRASSSSH..."
At the same time, the boardwalks extending out over the sea completely collapsed into the water.
"Oh no, it’s all ruined. It’s all ruined."
Everyone looked toward the sound. In the blink of an eye, the perfectly good port had been reduced to a pile of wreckage. Wooden planks from the boardwalks drifted on the surface of the sea, carried farther away by the waves.
"Boss Gu..."
"It’s fine. Let them smash. I’ll compensate you for any and all damages to your ships," Gu Shuo said with a faint smile.
"Hearing you say that, Boss Gu, puts our minds at ease."
The twenty or so ship owners finally breathed a collective sigh of relief.
’Still, it was strange. If the people of Nanyuan destroyed the port, how would they transport their seafood in the future?’
’And Boss Gu’s lack of concern was just as bizarre.’
"Tsk, tsk. To be able to dismantle such hard stone and iron plates... they look quite professional."
"It’s just a stroke of blind luck."
"Even a blind cat needs some luck to find a dead mouse. And their luck seems pretty good."
Ye Qianning, Qian Fanji, and Gu Shuo bantered back and forth as if they were watching a play.
Sang Zhi snorted. "Mere buffoons. There’s nothing to see here."
"Then what are you doing back here?" Ye Qianning asked.
Sang Zhi propped his head on his hand, his gaze never leaving her. "I came to see you."
The corner of Ye Qianning’s mouth twitched.
The mob smashing the port kept glancing over at the seated group. Enough time for several cups of tea had passed. They were exhausted, but the others were still chatting and laughing, seemingly not bothering to spare them a single look.
The more they smashed, the more disheartened they became——
"Gu! You make your fortune on dirty money! You have no conscience!"
"Let’s see how arrogant you can be after we smash your port!"
Seeing that the group wouldn’t approach, the panting mob stopped their destruction. Instead, they charged forward in an instant, surrounding them completely.
