"Miss Huang, if you don’t want to go, then don’t. How can you speak like that?"

"Idiot."

Huang Lihua couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, so she turned and walked downstairs.

’The men from the Barbarian Clan are huge, but they have no brains. And he’s trying to be a merchant?’

’It’s a good thing Boss Gu is an honest man. Otherwise, with a brain like that, this guy would be scammed out of his own pants.’

Li Zhuang was completely baffled. He scratched the back of his head, thinking the people of Loulan were so unreasonable.

「In the private room.」

"Boss Gu, if you would please step out for a moment," Shui Xingqi said, looking at Gu Shuo.

"Going to the Shuiyuan Clan was my father’s idea. Young Master Shui, by asking my father to leave, are you saying you no longer want the medicinal pills?" From the moment Ye Qianning had seen this man, she’d found him arrogant and unreasonable.

Shui Xingqi glanced over. "Boss Gu doesn’t understand the medical arts."

"My father may not, but I do. Young Master Shui, I suggest you drop the attitude." Ye Qianning couldn’t stand his condescension.

Shui Xingqi’s expression darkened slightly.

Gu Shuo observed the man across from them. The people of the Shuiyuan Clan rarely left Guanghai; he had only ever heard of them but never met one in person.

He had just heard his daughter mention that the Shuiyuan Clan had a patient who had been in a deep sleep for a very long time.

When it came to medicine, he had complete faith in his little girl. Her skills had been outstanding even when she was only six.

"This is a partnership. In a partnership, there’s no need for either side to lower themselves."

"As I said back at the Shuiyuan Clan, the pills can keep her conscious. If you come to congratulate my master on his birthday, the pills will be yours. But... don’t you want her to be able to walk freely again?"

Shui Xingqi’s expression flickered.

"This bottle of pills is the promise I made." Ye Qianning placed the medicine on the table and pushed it across. "Our agreement is now fulfilled. If there’s nothing else, Young Master Shui, we’ll be leaving."

Shui Xingqi’s gaze was fixed on the bottle of pills.

Ye Qianning stood up. "Father, let’s go."

Gu Shuo nodded.

"Wait."

Ye Qianning turned her head. "Is there something else, Young Master Shui?"

"You said she could walk freely again. Is that true?" he asked, a flicker of excitement in his eyes.

"Of course."

"What’s the method?"

"Young Master Shui, our deal was for the pills. That cooperation is now complete."

Shui Xingqi’s stern expression faltered for a moment. He immediately stood and bowed to Gu Shuo. "Boss Gu, I was deeply offensive just now. Please, forgive me."

Gu Shuo was also taken aback. He looked at Shui Xingqi, then his gaze fell upon his own daughter.

Ye Qianning was smiling, her face a mask of sly triumph.

Gu Shuo understood in an instant. His daughter was doing this because the Young Master had asked him to leave; she was defending his honor and re-establishing his status.

’He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.’

"Father, do you think we should treat them?" Ye Qianning asked, putting on the air of a perfectly obedient daughter.

"You decide."

"No, your daughter will listen to you. If you say we should save her, then we will."

Gu Shuo fell silent for a moment.

Shui Xingqi remained in his bow. When he received no response, his fingers tightened slightly. He took two steps forward and knelt on one knee. "Please, Boss Gu, forgive my previous disrespect."

"Young Master Shui, please rise." Gu Shuo was shocked and hurried forward to help him up.

"Boss Gu, my mother has been like a living corpse for decades. I beg you, please allow Miss Ye to treat her." Shui Xingqi did not get up.

"Young Master Shui, get up and speak."

"Does that mean you agree, Boss Gu?" Shui Xingqi asked eagerly.

"First, get up, Young Master Shui." Gu Shuo pulled him to his feet. "My daughter has a mischievous nature. If she truly didn’t want to provide a cure, she never would have mentioned it. Nor would she have given you the entire bottle of pills."

Shui Xingqi instinctively looked over at Ye Qianning.

The corners of Ye Qianning’s lips were turned up in a slight smile, and her eyes sparkled like a little fox that had just gotten away with a clever scheme.
