Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Why Don’t You Give Up Too?

"Mom! Do you even want me and Evelyn Grant to get back together? If you don’t help me now, any hope of us reconciling will be slim to none."

Julian Sterling assumed his words would make his mother reconsider.

But to his surprise, this time, Florence Morgan changed her tune.

"Julian, maybe... you should just give up. I’ll slowly leak the news of your divorce. Once enough time passes, people will stop caring, and it won’t affect your company too much. What do you say?"

Julian Sterling could hardly believe what he was hearing!

"Mom, what are you talking about? You want me to give up on reconciling with Evelyn Grant?!"

"I didn’t want this either, at first. But looking at the state of things, every step you take is a huge struggle. It would be better to just give up on being together! I don’t want to end up ruining things with her brother beyond repair, only for you to still have no chance of getting back with Eve."

When Florence Morgan went to the hospital, Alex Grant had unloaded on her, and she had no desire to go through that again.

But if her son refused to give up, she would have to keep dealing with the Grant Family and meeting with them.

’Do I have any pride left?’

’I’ve already humbled myself and practically begged them, and this is how they act. Even if they do get back together, I won’t have a shred of dignity left as an elder.’

"No! It’s Evelyn Grant or no one!" Julian Sterling’s tone was resolute, leaving no room for negotiation.

Florence Morgan was instantly displeased, her voice tinged with anger.

"If you had been this determined from the start, you never would have gotten divorced in the first place! You’re the one who made everything such a mess, so how dare you say that now?"

"I don’t care. I just want Evelyn Grant."

"Fine, do whatever you want! I can’t control you anymore. As your mother, I’ve done everything in my power to help you when I could. Whatever happens in the end, my conscience will be clear."

With that, Florence Morgan hung up.

Staring at the dark screen, Julian Sterling was so enraged he smashed his phone to the ground.

He threw it with such force that the phone instantly shattered, its pieces scattering across the floor...

’Why!’

’Why, in the end, is no one willing to help me?!’

Now that he couldn’t even count on his own mother, Julian truly had no idea who else he could possibly ask for help.

He abruptly stood up, needing to get out of the office for some air.

He felt like he was going to suffocate if he stayed inside.

But just as he got downstairs, he saw Mr. Jacobs in the distance, looking around as if searching for a chance to get inside.

Julian Sterling frowned and turned to go back inside—

"Julian Sterling! Julian Sterling, I’ve finally found you!"

"..."

With the man shouting his name like that and staff present in the lobby, Julian, worried about causing a scene, had no choice but to stop and walk over.

"What do you want?"

"What do you think I want? Money, of course! That cash you gave me last time wasn’t enough. I want to buy a house so I have a place to live. So either give me more money, or just give me a house!"

Julian Sterling took a step back, wanting to avoid any physical confrontation.

"I never promised you a house."

"Then give me the money! I’ll buy one myself. Same difference."
