Julian Sterling wasn’t afraid anymore.

Besides, even if something really happened to Evelyn Grant, Ryan Sterling would be there to handle it for her!

’Why hadn’t he figured this out before?’

"You think I’m just trying to scare you, don’t you? I meant what I said. I’m going right now!"

Mr. Jacobs turned to leave.

But after taking a few steps, he glanced back and saw that Julian Sterling had no intention of stopping him.

His heart sank.

"You really don’t care anymore?"

"I’ve already told you, there was nothing between Jane Jacobs and me. I helped you out of basic human decency, but you kept pushing your luck and making outrageous demands! Well, I’m sorry, but I can’t give you any more financial assistance."

Julian Sterling was already furious as it was.

He was already on the verge of a breakdown because he couldn’t get back together with Evelyn Grant. Every path he tried was a dead end. For Mr. Jacobs to show up now and cause trouble was tantamount to a death wish.

And since the man was asking for it, he couldn’t blame Julian Sterling for being merciless!

"You can’t do this! Didn’t you love Jane? When my daughter was alive, she told me many times that you were the man she loved most! She was going to be with you for the rest of her life!"

"Then why was she pregnant with another man’s child? And why did she lie to me about it!"

"How is that possible? There weren’t any other men around my daughter. How could she have gotten pregnant? People are just slandering Jane! They’re only saying that because they’re jealous of how beautiful she was! They just want to drive a wedge between you two! Julian, you can’t believe them!"

Julian Sterling’s lip curled. "I didn’t want to believe it at first, either. In my eyes, Jane Jacobs was so innocent, completely without a malicious bone in her body. But now I see she wasn’t the girl I imagined at all! She just acted pure and sweet in front of me. God knows what she was really like behind my back!"

Mr. Jacobs’s throat felt dry. There was so much he wanted to say, but he didn’t know where to begin.

’His daughter is already dead. What else can I do?’

’I can’t exactly dig her up and have her explain herself!’

Most importantly, Mr. Jacobs couldn’t care less about his daughter’s death. He only cared about getting more money for himself!

He had already gambled away or otherwise spent all the money Julian Sterling had given him before.

If Julian Sterling demanded the money back now, he’d have nothing to give and would be completely at his mercy.

"Don’t... don’t be like this! Jane truly loved you!"

"And what if she did love me? What if she didn’t? If it weren’t for her, I might never have divorced my wife. I’d still be living a happy life! If she had any morals, any principles at all, she wouldn’t have tried to destroy my family, knowing full well that I was a married man!"

"But wasn’t that because she loved you?"

Julian Sterling scoffed. "Loved me? Hah."

Mr. Jacobs was so desperate he wanted to grab Julian’s hand and beg.

"You can’t do this to me! Jane really did love you! I’m her father, don’t you think I’d know my own daughter?"

"Is there anything else? If not, we’re done here."

Julian Sterling was already agitated and was in no mood to waste any more words on him.

But Mr. Jacobs stubbornly blocked his path, refusing to let him leave.

"Julian, don’t be like this! We can still talk about this! The house... I don’t want it anymore, okay? You can just go back to giving me the money like before!"
