I Belong To My Three Forbidden Masters

Chapter 229: Chapter 229
Calix
The morning light through the tall medical wing windows was pale and clear, washing over the sterile white floorboards.
I stood near the corner cabinet, my hands folded comfortably behind my back.
Beside me, sitting in a low armchair with her dark traveling cloak draped over her lap, was Madam Viola.
She was an independent practitioner from the neutral valley cities, a woman whose family had practiced core magic for centuries, bound to no border lord, no regional council, and no high house.
To the guards outside the door and the servants walking the hallway, she was simply a private noble physician my family had requested to perform a routine health check on my own wellness before the formal court proceedings.
"The security guards were surprisingly cooperative," Viola murmured softly, her sharp grey eyes scanning the polished room. Her voice was smooth, low, and completely calm.
"Commander Valen authorized the visit," I replied in a quiet tone. "He is beginning to ask the right questions."
A soft chime sounded at the side entrance of the medical room.
The door opened, and Lysander stepped inside, flanked by two stone-faced security guards. He looked small, wrapped in a simple wool cardigan over his linen shirt, his hand instinctively cupping the rounded swell of his waist. His hair was slightly messy, his face pale, but when his gaze met mine, there was no panic in his eyes, only a tense, breathless quiet.
"Leave us," I instructed the guards, keeping my voice smooth and authoritative. "Madam Viola requires a private space for the diagnostic reading."
The guards hesitated for a fraction of a second, but Valen’s earlier directive held firm. They inclined their heads and backed out into the corridor, closing the wooden door behind them.
"Lysander," I said softly, stepping forward to gesture toward the padded examination bench near the window."This is Madam Viola. She is not affiliated with Drake’s council, nor is she bound to my family. She is here to examine your baby’s core."
Lysander looked from me to the elderly woman, his dark eyes wide with sudden, trembling caution. "Why?What is this?"
"It is time to test the foundation of Julian’s house of cards," I said simply.
Viola stood up, setting her silver travel case on the small table beside the bench. "Sit down, young one," she said gently, her voice carrying a warm, grounding presence that seemed to ease the sharp tension in Lysander’s frame. "I am only going to read the energy strands around your waist. It won’t hurt you or the child."
Lysander looked at me for a long moment, searching my face for any trace of deceit. Finding none, he let out a slow, shaky breath and stepped over to the bench, sitting down on the edge. He pulled his cardigan back, laying his palm flat over his stomach.
Viola stepped close. She didn’t pull out metallic probes or complex diagnostic devices. She simply removed her rings, rubbed her palms together until a soft, golden glow flared across her skin, and gently rested her fingertips over Lysander’s lower middle.
The room fell into an absolute, breathless hush.
Lysander squeezed his eyes shut, his posture rigid, his breathing short and shallow as Viola began her work.
A faint, shimmering light expanded outward from her hands, wrapping around Lysander’s waist like a delicate golden web. The magic thrummed softly, sending a gentle, warm pulse through the quiet air of the room. Deep within Lysander’s core, the child responded instantly, giving a energetic, joyful flutter that made Lysander let out a soft gasp.
Viola’s eyes remained closed as her fingers traced the invisible energy paths connecting the child’s pulse to his father’s body.
One minute passed. Then two.
Slowly, the golden light around her hands began to shift, turning a bright, crystal-clear blue as she pushed her diagnostic magic deeper into the core’s resonance matrix. Her brow pulled together slightly, her calm expression sharpening into intense concentration.
"Interesting," she whispered to the empty air.
"What is it?" Lysander asked, his voice cracking with instant fear, his eyes snapping open. "Is something wrong with the baby?"
"No, child," she said smoothly, opening her eyes and pulling her hands back. The light faded from her skin, leaving only the natural morning sun in the room. "Your baby is remarkably healthy. Strong core, steady pulse, and a rich, natural heat."
She turned her head to look straight at me, her sharp grey eyes filled with a cold, disgusted clarity.
"The life-bond is a complete lie," Viola declared flatly.
Lysander froze on the bench, his jaw dropping, his whole body going completely still. "What?"
"A true life-bond creates a structural anchor within the host’s core," she explained, pointing a finger toward Lysander’s waist. "It leaves a dark, blood-red thread that links directly to the second party’s spirit. There is no external thread attached to this child. None at all."
"But Dr. Star checked it!" Lysander gasped out, his hands shaking violently against his shirt. "He showed Drake the reading! He said if Julian died, the baby’s core would collapse!"
"Dr. Star read a surface shadow charm," Viola said, a cold sneer touching her thin lips. "A basic, low-level illusion planted around your outer aura. It mimics the vibration of a bond to trick simple diagnostic tools, but it has zero structural connection to the child’s life. If Julian died this very second, your baby wouldn’t even register a hiccup."
The truth dropped into the quiet room like a falling mountain.
Lysander sat on the bench, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps as the sheer scale of the deception washed through his blood. "A lie... It was all a lie... He kept Julian alive for nothing..."
"He kept Julian alive because the serpent knew exactly which buttons to press," I said, my voice cold, sharp, and focused as I stepped toward the door. "Julian used the fake bond to save his own life, and he used the illusion fog at the gala to destroy Drake’s trust in you."
Lysander looked up at me from the bench, his dark eyes overflowing with hot, fresh tears—not of grief, but of a terrifying, sudden rage.
"Drake needs to know," Lysander whispered, his voice trembling as he stood up from the bench, his posture straightening for the first time in months. "He needs to know right now."
"He will know," I promised softly, pulling open the wooden door and looking out into the corridor where Commander Valen was walking toward us. "And when the truth comes out, the serpent in the subterranean cell will finally get what he deserves."
