The Level 3 City Wall at the entrance of Cave No. 1 had already risen completely, fusing with the mountainside to securely protect the entire camp behind it.

He had never seen this type of Ghost Object before.

’I don’t know what kind of attacks they have. It’s not a good time to be standing on the City Wall. It’s pretty dangerous. I might get hit by a sneak attack.’

He was safe, for now.

But he couldn’t see what was happening outside.

However, he was prepared for this.

"THUMP, THUMP, THUMP..."

The sound of something crashing against the City Wall echoed.

With every impact, the crocodile cowering in the corner trembled. Its eyes were filled with terror and panic, its tail tucked under its body as it huddled there.

’It’s that scared?’

Chen Fan glanced at the crocodile—Hey Hey—and walked toward the tunnel it had dug inside the cave over the past few days. He truly believed that even if Hey Hey couldn’t defeat this wave of Ghost Objects, they certainly couldn’t stop it if it wanted to escape.

Those two- to three-meter-wide giant turtle Ghost Objects certainly looked intimidating, but compared to Hey Hey, they were nothing.

Soon—

He followed the Meat Grinder’s network of tunnels all the way to a hole at the highest point of the left rock face. He slowly retracted the section of the City Wall blocking the opening and peeked down.

He was over forty meters above the ground.

It was located above Cave No. 2, the Vehicle Workshop.

From this angle, he could see the entire Ghost Tide within the Celestial Pit.

The giant turtle Ghost Objects were taking the brunt of the cannon towers’ damage, protecting the Ghost Tide behind them as they slowly approached the City Wall. Their shells, formed from bone, could expand to five or six meters wide, shielding the Ghost Tide underneath.

At a glance,

The nine giant turtle Ghost Objects with their expanded shells were extremely conspicuous within the Ghost Tide.

Every time a beam of light from a Level 5 Cannon Tower hit a shell, it would cause numerous cracks to appear.

But—

It was enough to escort the Ghost Tide to the base of the City Wall.

"A professional army, as expected."

Chen Fan muttered to himself as he lay at the cave entrance, over forty meters above the ground, watching the scene below. He had already guessed where this Ghost Tide came from; it was most likely one of the Ghost King’s subordinates.

They were well-coordinated.

A much greater threat than those uncommanded Ghost Tides.

However...

His Level 5 Cannon Towers had a chain attack. While the giant turtle Ghost Objects could block the direct light beams, they couldn’t stop the chain effect. Every time a beam hit, three nearby Ghost Objects would be killed instantly.

"BOOM...!"

The shell on one giant turtle Ghost Object’s back shattered completely, and it collapsed into the flooded ground.

More and more Ghost Objects reached the base of the City Wall.

Crabs with enormous pincers and human faces, hiding under the turtle shells, began forcefully striking the City Wall. Each swing of their pincers produced a loud THUMP. If this were a Level 1 City Wall, it probably would have collapsed after just a few hits.

Unfortunately for them, this was a Level 3 City Wall.

After several consecutive strikes, they had only managed to create a fist-sized dent.

The City Wall was several meters thick.

It would take some effort to break through.

A female ghost in a soaked white dress with a fish-like tail began to dance seductively in the rain. As Chen Fan watched from the cave opening, his gaze started to grow hazy. But in the very next moment, a chill spread from his chest, and he instantly came to his senses.

Looking again,

It was just an ordinary dance, devoid of any bewitching power.

"I have to say, Qiu Kui, your handiwork is pretty good."

"Thanks."

Lying at the cave entrance, Chen Fan patted the Heart-Protecting Armor in his tunic. It was usually warm to the touch, but just now it had emitted a cool sensation. This was the armor Qiu Kui had made for the Ghost King, which he had later captured.

[Exotic Treasure Name]: Ghost Skin

[Exotic Treasure Level]: Green

[Exotic Treasure Effect]: A special Ghost Skin, personally crafted by a High Level Ghost Object. When kept close to the body, it can block a fatal attack.

-

The effect only said it could block a fatal attack.

He had no idea it could also clear the spirit and provide an anti-charm effect.

’This must have been Qiu Kui’s personal touch, right?’

’Hoping the Ghost King wouldn’t mess around in the future, or be seduced by other female ghosts?’

’A pretty useful function.’

’I like it.’

Naturally, these fish-tailed female ghosts were no threat to Lame Monkey and the others inside the cave. The City Wall completely sealed the entrance, so they couldn’t see anything, which meant the charm effect was useless.

As for that batch of Sea Serpents, they were something else.

They were nothing but skeletons.

No flesh and blood to be seen.

A black liquid oozed from the joints between their segments. They were currently slithering up the face of the City Wall, trying to get over it and into the cave. Unfortunately for them, the City Wall was a complete covering, leaving no gaps for them to slip through.

They were, however, able to squeeze into the rectangular openings of the cannon towers and damage the core structures from within.

’A good tactic.’

But...

The cannon towers were connected to the altar via Copper Pipes. A steady stream of milky-white Holy Water flowed through the pipes to the towers, rapidly repairing any damage they had just sustained.

From the looks of it,

this Ghost Tide’s bag of tricks was just about empty.

They couldn’t pose the slightest threat to the camp.

And that went double for the City Wall. The moment the human-faced crab Ghost Object with its swinging pincers made a dent, the Holy Water would immediately repair it. If he were one of those Ghost Objects, he’d find the sight utterly despairing.

The City Wall was impregnable under the sustained assault.

But the Ghost Tide outside the walls was constantly dwindling under the bombardment of the Level 5 Cannon Towers.

Body after body fell into the flooded ground.

Ghost Blood flowed uncontrollably toward the base of the City Wall, and the corpses quickly turned into desiccated husks.

Meanwhile, the section of wall at the entrance to Cave No. 2, which housed the Vehicle Workshop, was so perfectly integrated with the rock face that not a single Ghost Object noticed it was there. Perhaps they could find it with a careful search, but unfortunately for them, the Ghost Tide’s attention was completely captivated by the Level 3 City Wall.

「About ten minutes later.」
