Chapter 163: Chapter 158: Another Arena Competition, Watch My Grand Opening Event
"What are the fish trucks for?"
Wang Tao asked back with a grin.
"For delivering fish, of course."
’Fish trucks... what would they deliver if not fish?’
Suddenly, Chen Yuan realized this meant the fish truck’s upgrade was related to delivering fish.
He immediately checked the system and, sure enough, saw the upgrade progress for the fish truck.
"One percent."
Chen Yuan mulled it over and made a guess. A level-one fish truck would probably upgrade after delivering a million pounds of fish into the ponds.
’Shouldn’t be too hard.’
A million pounds sounded like a lot, but the fishing ground’s consumption rate was enormous. The carnival alone had required around 200,000 pounds. With a few more events, the upgrade would be done.
If worst came to worst, he could just get a fleet of trucks. He could always buy them from the system.
’My reputation value only increased by 1.2%. How does that go up?’
Chen Yuan thought about the other upgrade requirement. He understood the fish truck upgrade now, but the reputation value was still a mystery. Seeing the number left him a bit baffled.
’Could it be the number of customers who visit the ponds?’
Chen Yuan guessed that if that was the metric, he would need to host about five thousand customers to complete the reputation value requirement.
He’d have to observe it further.
"I’ll go get the rest of the stuff."
Wang Tao didn’t disturb Chen Yuan. With a quick word, he drove the fish truck away. He returned shortly after, leading several employees, each riding a tricycle.
"Whoa, that’s a lot of tricycles. Are you starting a fleet?"
Chen Jun heard the commotion outside and ran out to look, still holding some garlic shoots. The neat row of tricycles astonished him.
"The Old Pond opens tomorrow. The fleet has to be ready."
Wang Tao chuckled and reminded Chen Jun about the keys and the seeds in the cargo beds. Then he called for the other employees to get to work while he rode one of the tricycles to the fishpond.
"All ten tricycles are here. Take a look, Boss Chen."
Wang Tao arrived at the fishpond, hopped off the tricycle, and tossed the key to Chen Yuan.
The trikes were unlicensed, but the front was emblazoned with the Chen Yuan Fishing Ground’s logo. They were exclusive vehicles for the fishing ground, and a whole fleet of them would look absolutely awesome.
Chen Yuan had originally considered getting an electric scooter. He’d seen Du Luming riding one around the pond to weigh and count fish, which seemed quite convenient. But it wasn’t suitable for his fishing ground; tricycles were more practical.
"Is everything going to have the fishing ground’s logo from now on?"
Chen Yuan laughed when he saw the logo. ’It really is everywhere.’
"Absolutely. We can’t neglect the smaller ponds, either. Tonight, we’ll add the logo to the signboards. Only by being everywhere can we make a lasting impression."
No matter how novel the design or how brilliant the idea, the first impression might be stunning and praiseworthy, but if you only see it once, you’ll quickly forget it.
On the other hand, even the most mediocre thing will leave a deep impression if you see it often or need it every day.
It’s the advertising effect, branding it into your subconscious.
"Here are the business licenses and other documents for the guesthouse. Should I give them to you or to Miss Chen?"
Wang Tao pointed to the documents on the tricycle.
"Take them to my sister. She’s in charge of the guesthouse and leisure facilities, so you can coordinate with her. Just let me know if you need anything else."
Chen Yuan glanced through them and saw no issues.
Then he tossed the key back to Wang Tao. "I’ll assign you a tricycle too. Around the village, these things are more useful than your trucks."
"Tricycles are definitely convenient, but not this one."
Wang Tao tossed the key back again.
"Why not?"
"It’s vehicle number one. It has to belong to Boss Chen."
Wang Tao pointed to the number below the logo on the front of the vehicle.
Chen Yuan had been focused on the logo and hadn’t actually noticed the number.
"Professional."
Chen Yuan gave him a thumbs-up.
"No matter how professional we are, we still need you, Boss Chen, to lead the way like a locomotive. Boss Chen, don’t forget to secure the construction rights for the Old Pond."
Wang Tao still had his mind on the big project.
"Wait for my news."
Chen Yuan waved.
After Wang Tao left, Chen Yuan glanced at the time. It wasn’t even eight o’clock yet. Stocking the fish had been much faster than usual. He figured Uncle Bin probably hadn’t gone to the village committee yet.
’First, I’ll announce the opening event for the Old Pond.’
Lighting a cigarette, Chen Yuan decided he would definitely post the announcement for the opening event before heading to the village committee. Besides, the anglers were surely looking forward to tomorrow’s event.
SWOOSH, SWOOSH, SWOOSH~
Looking at the fishpond, he saw many anglers yanking their rods up. Maybe it was because of the logo, but they were all standing up, planting their feet at an angle, leaning back slightly, and just pulling with raw strength.
You had to admit, it looked pretty impressive.
Back in his office, enjoying the cool air from the small air conditioner, Chen Yuan took out his phone and checked the WeChat group for the fishing ground. He scrolled directly to this morning’s messages, which were all about the fish truck.
Every line conveyed their shock and awe.
They also expressed their love for the logo. Some people were even imitating the pose from the logo and adding their own "swoosh" sound effects, saying it felt awesome.
’The Fishing King Arena actually posted a fish stocking announcement.’
A smile played on Chen Yuan’s lips as his finger flew across the screen, skimming the messages. But as he neared the bottom, a sudden message made his finger freeze.
At first, he didn’t pay it any mind.
It was perfectly normal for a fishing ground to stock fish; it would be abnormal if they didn’t.
But as he read the subsequent messages, the smile on his lips slowly faded.
’They see the Chen Yuan Fishing Ground’s carnival is about to end and want to seize the opportunity to poach some customers.’
The scale of the carnival event could only be described with one word: insane. It was something anglers had likely never experienced before. But an event was just an event; it couldn’t last forever.
And when the event ended and things returned to normal, the contrast would be as sharp as the event had been crazy. If another fishing ground held a good stocking event at that moment, they really could attract some customers.
"Holy crap, the Fishing King Arena is only stocking one fish? What the hell are they playing at?"
He continued scrolling through the group messages.
The group chat was a bit dumbfounded, with a stream of question marks.
Everyone thought they were going to make a big move to compete for customers as the carnival ended, but it turned out to be just one fish. It was like eating a fistful of peas only to let out a silent fart.
