Chapter 191: Chapter 175: Wanting to Rent a Venue

"Good thing my cousin’s looking out for her brother-in-law — giving him an easy one. Your sister loves peanut oil."

Zhou Lin didn’t even think about it and just threw out a guess.

"Wrong. Red envelope, please."

The cousin smiled and held out her hand.

Zhou Lin didn’t mind at all. He waved Chen Yuan over to hand out the red envelopes, and Chen Yuan didn’t hold back — he counted out over ten in one go. Might as well lighten the load while they were at it.

"Next question."

As soon as the envelopes were handed over, Zhou Lin called out for the next one.

"You haven’t gotten the first one right yet."

"There are only two options — if it’s not one, it’s the other. Do I even need to answer?"

"Go ahead then."

"Canola oil."

Zhou Lin answered with total confidence — only to be told he was wrong again. He was completely stumped, and so was the entire groomsmen squad behind him. Both answers wrong? Were they being played?

"Red envelope first."

The cousin held out her hand, then broke into a sly grin. "You can buy the answer for double the red envelopes. Guaranteed to satisfy — full refund if it doesn’t."

"Fine, deal. Let’s see what answer you’ve got."

Zhou Lin gave up trying to guess and was genuinely curious now.

But Chen Yuan didn’t reach for more red envelopes. A memory from his past life surfaced — some video he’d scrolled past once — and the corner of his mouth slowly curved into a confident smile.

"I love you~"

Chen Yuan suddenly dropped a line in English, leaving Zhou Lin and the others thoroughly confused. This was supposed to be a wedding gate-crashing game — what was he confessing for?

Then it clicked. That was the answer all along.

"I’ll give you that one."

The cousin’s cheeks flushed slightly. She pulled her hand back, cleared her throat, and said, "Question two: the bride wants to buy a piece of land. What kind of land should the groom get her?"

Zhou Lin, who had just been giving Chen Yuan a thumbs-up, went blank again.

No multiple choice this time.

This one was actually tricky.

"Devoted and grounded — heart and soul."

Chen Yuan tapped Zhou Lin on the shoulder, and Zhou Lin immediately caught on and repeated the answer. Watching the cousin’s face fall, the groomsmen burst out laughing.

These were all riddles and wordplay — and Yuan was sharp as a tack.

"What door leads to happiness?"

The cousin, still not ready to give up, pressed on.

"We do."

Chen Yuan tapped Zhou Lin again. Zhou Lin hollered the answer with a jump, and the whole groomsmen squad went wild, throwing their arms around Chen Yuan’s shoulders and roaring with laughter. The cousin and the bridesmaids were at a complete loss for words.

The gate-blocking game they’d spent all last night planning had been cracked in three rounds flat, all thanks to Boss Chen.

"My turn. What kind of wine will the bride and groom drink today?"

A second bridesmaid stepped up to the challenge.

"A wedding toast — from the same cup!"

One of the groomsmen blurted it out immediately. Too easy.

"Wrong."

The bridesmaids cheered and clapped, clawing one back.

Zhou Lin and the guys racked their brains. If not a shared-cup toast, what else would a bride and groom drink at their own wedding?

"Forever and always."

Chen Yuan whispered the answer to Zhou Lin while fishing out more red envelopes. If that guy hadn’t jumped the gun earlier, they could’ve saved a whole stack.

The bridesmaid gave Chen Yuan a thumbs-up, then moved on to her second question.

"Where is the bride from?"

The groomsmen had wised up by now — clearly none of these questions had straightforward answers. Every head turned toward Chen Yuan for help.

"The bride is from the groom’s heart."

He might not have seen it all firsthand, but cheesy romantic wordplay like this had been everywhere in his past life. He practically knew the whole playbook.

"What time is it for the groom right now?"

"The start of the rest of his life~"

That one was a walk in the park. Zhou Lin and the groomsmen were practically bouncing off the walls with excitement, the guests around them clapping along — while the bridesmaids stood there with nothing to say.

"Boss Chen is something else. Do you go around charming girls like this all the time?"

"He’s clearly a total player."

"Girls, the groom brought in a smooth-talker and we cannot let them walk all over us. Forget the cheesy lines — time to crank up the difficulty. Rapid-fire round, let’s go."

They’d been so sure these questions would stump the groom and his crew. Nobody expected Boss Chen to sweep through all of them. At this rate, the gate-blocking game was headed for a total wipeout.

Once the difficulty spiked, even Chen Yuan was out of tricks. All he could do was count out red envelopes like a good sport.

Not that anyone could blame him — the questions had gotten downright ruthless.

How many strokes are in the bride’s name?

What’s the sum of all the digits in the bride’s phone number?

And then there was something like: the bride’s brother’s father’s younger brother’s sister-in-law’s child’s child — what would the groom call that person? Who on earth would know that?

Rapid-fire round with questions like these? A guaranteed loss.

But that was the whole point of the gate-blocking game. If the groom just waltzed straight in without any fuss, where would the fun be? The whole thing was about the noise, the laughs, and the festive chaos — and honestly, it was a great time.

After the better part of an hour, with Chen Yuan’s red envelopes clearing the way, Zhou Lin successfully claimed his bride. They went through a few more rounds — hunting for the hidden shoes, declarations of love, signing a "promise letter" — before the groom finally carried the bride out the door on his back.

Outside, Zhou Lin’s uncle on his mother’s side and the bride’s family had already loaded everything into the cars. Once the gate-crashing was wrapped up, everyone was ushered in and got settled.

At the auspicious time of 8:08, the convoy set off right on schedule. Chen Yuan even walked away with two fat red envelopes of his own.

The journey was anything but smooth — stopping at every bridge for the bride to step out and walk across. What should’ve been an hour and a half turned into nearly three hours on the road. By the time they rolled back into Yu City Village, it was almost eleven.

"Brother Lin, I’m heading home first. I’ll be back for lunch."

When the wedding convoy pulled up outside Zhou Jianming’s place, Chen Yuan climbed out, handed Zhou Lin the remaining red envelopes, said his goodbyes, and headed off toward his own house.

"Sure, come over as soon as you’re done."

Zhou Lin nodded, knowing Chen Yuan’s family had their own things to take care of, and he was swamped here too. He didn’t keep him long — just told him to bring the whole family over early.

Chen Yuan said he would. He spotted Wang Tao pulling up on a three-wheeled motorcycle and jogged over, hopping into the cargo bed.

He’d called Wang Tao when they were still entering the village. Everyone at home was sure to be busy, and it only made sense to have Wang Tao come get him — walking back would’ve taken a good ten minutes.

"Mom, Dad, how’s it going at home?"

The moment Chen Yuan got back, he made a beeline for the kitchen.
