Chapter 540 - 443: The Power of 1: Against an Army of 200,000! (2)

  • Next Chapter

"What the hell is happening?!" The charging Alien Race Alliance Army was completely baffled.

They hadn’t seen Gao Neng use any sort of technique at all.

But the fact was...

Dozens of General-rank aliens near Gao Neng had all collapsed in unison.

And this phenomenon was even continuing to spread wildly.

Gao Neng shot straight above the Alien Race Alliance Army. All the aliens charging in his vicinity seemed to have been struck by an Immobilization Spell, their expressions becoming vacant.

"It’s an Illusion Technique!" Luna realized in an instant.

After all, in front of the Federation Government Building, she, Uncle Bai, and Wu Qingjing had experienced what it was like to be controlled by Gao Neng’s Illusion Technique.

However, as a Tier Eight Late Stage powerhouse, she knew the conditions for casting an Illusion Technique very well.

It was a method that required one to concentrate Spiritual Power to disrupt an opponent’s mind.

To put it simply, to cast an Illusion Technique on someone, you first had to use your Spiritual Power to interfere with their senses. Moreover, the entire procedure was an extremely delicate one.

Most importantly, casting an Illusion Technique required certain prerequisites.

There were many such prerequisites.

The simplest example was hypnosis. Some hypnotists would use a pocket watch, making the subject stare at it for a few minutes until they entered a hypnotic state.

Of course, hypnosis was just one of the simpler forms of Illusion Technique.

But in truth, their principles were similar.

No matter what method you used to cast an Illusion Technique, you always needed some "prerequisites," or perhaps "catalysts."

Luna had once thought that Gao Neng’s "prerequisite" was a smoke bomb.

Because back in the hall of the Federation Government Building, the first thing Gao Neng had used was a smoke bomb. Right after, she, Wu Qingjing, and the others had been brought under his control.

So...

’Where’s the smoke bomb?’

Furthermore, a normal Illusion Technique had a limited range.

In other words, anyone within the range of the technique—aside from the caster—should have been affected.

’But what was actually happening?’

Luna felt completely unaffected.

She couldn’t even sense any fluctuations of Spiritual Power around Gao Neng.

Yet the result was...

The Alien Race Alliance Army was falling in droves.

"Are you fucking kidding me? Illusion Techniques can be used like this?!" Luna’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. ’This makes no goddamn sense at all.’

It was too outrageous!

She had been training for decades.

She had never seen anyone use Illusion Techniques with such reckless abandon!

’Just how many damn years must some old monster have studied Illusion Techniques to be able to do something like this?’

Luna felt as if she’d been shot through the heart.

In fact, it wasn’t just her.

Uncle Bai and everyone watching on television were also baffled by the bizarre scene unfolding before them.

They didn’t think about it as deeply as Luna did.

They only knew that the fierce battle they had anticipated had not begun.

In front of Gao Neng, the ferocious Alien Race Alliance Army was like a troop of obedient monkeys who immediately kowtowed upon seeing their king.

"ROAR!"

"He’s so strong!"

"What kind of technique is that?!"

"Who cares what technique it is? Just cheer for him, that’s what matters!"

The audience, who had been scared stiff moments ago, erupted in an instant.

It didn’t matter what Gao Neng was doing.

As long as he could defeat the Alien Race Alliance Army, that was enough!

"Go for it!"

"Take them down!"

"He’s incredible!"

The entire City of Hope was roaring.

Meanwhile, the two hundred thousand soldiers of the charging Allied Army all stared with wide eyes.

"Charge! Kill Gao Neng!"

"Quickly, concentrate your fire! Attack him!"

"Where is the Wing Race?!"

"Meng Race, surround and kill him!"

The two hundred thousand-strong Allied Army was finally enraged.

They began to use their thrown weapons.

Countless arrows and long spears, whistling sharply through the air, flew toward Gao Neng.

Luna and Uncle Bai made their move.

The two of them shielded Gao Neng from the front and back, frantically swatting down the projectiles to ensure he remained unharmed.

As for Fang Tangtang, she had already deployed her ’Alloy Fortress Domain,’ constructing a small alloy bastion on the back of the Flying Earth Dragon.

"Gao Neng, want to come inside?" Fang Tangtang called out to him.

"No need, I’m very strong!" Of course, Gao Neng didn’t need to. Not to mention anything else, he himself was a Tier Six Late Stage Warrior.

Arrows and spears like these posed little threat to him.

Besides, he really did need some pressure right now.

’Whether or not I can break through to the next Tier all depends on this wave!’ Gao Neng drew his long black blade and pointed it at the Wing Race members frantically diving toward him.

The Wing Race had wings.

They swarmed him madly from all directions.

Gao Neng raised his blade.

His Thunder God Domain instantly expanded.

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

Lightning crackled and roared in a radius of several meters around Gao Neng.

And just outside the lightning...

...was a ring of white light.

This was also a domain, but one with the attribute of light. The one who cast it was, of course, Uncle Bai.

The Bright Domain was on the outside.

The Thunder God Domain was on the inside.

Gao Neng weaved through the domains, continuously swinging his blade at the charging Wing Race.

A Wing Race warrior with a vacant expression was cleaved in two with a single slash.

That was right.

Gao Neng wasn’t arrogant enough to intentionally let the Wing Race get close.

For any enemy within range of his Illusion Technique, he first attacked them with the illusion, then followed up by hacking away with his blade.

Although this method was a bit expensive...

...its main advantage was that it saved him effort.

"BOOM!"

"BOOM!"

"..."

More and more aliens fell.

Soon, the area in a thirty to forty-meter radius around Gao Neng descended into chaos.

The effect of the Illusion Technique was clear!

These alien soldiers were no Wu Qingjing or Luna.

The moment they fell under the illusion, they saw themselves charging into the human ranks, completely surrounded.

So, what were they to do?

Kill!

Kill all the humans around them!

"Kill!"

"Kill!"

The aliens began to frantically cut each other down.

This shocked the unaffected members of the Alien Race Alliance Army once more.

It was chaos!

Wherever Gao Neng passed...

...complete chaos followed.

All the aliens were slaughtering one another as if they had gone mad.

"What is this Demon Technique!" The leading Princes watched the bizarre scene, on the verge of going mad themselves. At this rate, they couldn’t even get close to Gao Neng.

The moment they got close, they would be thrown into confusion.

’How are we supposed to fight this?’

"Your Highness, we can’t get near him. What should we do?"

"Your Highness, as soon as our men get near Gao Neng, they seem to lose their minds! Look... their eyes are completely vacant!"

"..."

"Damn it! I refuse to believe we can’t kill one Gao Neng!" A Prince riding a giant Barbaric Beast stood up and raised his long blade. "Kill Gao Neng for me!"

His voice was immense.

It was loud enough for the entire charging Alien Race Alliance Army to hear.

And so, amidst the crowd of aliens, Gao Neng naturally spotted this "high-spirited" Prince.

"Fang Tangtang, it’s your time to shine!"

"Huh? Is it finally my turn?" Fang Tangtang poked her head out of the Alloy Fortress, phone in hand. Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

"Yep. See that Prince over there? The one who’s not as handsome as me?" Gao Neng pointed in the Prince’s direction.

"Which one? I can’t tell! None of these Princes are as handsome as you are! A description like that makes it really hard for me!" As Fang Tangtang spoke, she adjusted the angle of her phone. Then, a massive cannon barrel emerged from the top of the Alloy Fortress.

"Good point. Then just blast the one who’s shouting the loudest!"

"You got it!"

"BOOM!"

The cannon fired.

A brilliant beam of light enveloped the Prince standing on the back of the Barbaric Beast.

Then, a mushroom cloud rose into the sky.

"KABOOM!"

A thirty-meter-deep crater instantly appeared in the ground.
