I Can Control Resources
Chapter 564 - 460: Pies Falling from the Sky, This Is a Miracle
"The auras of the other races are different from ours, but their spies aren’t necessarily from another race," Qin Jianfei said calmly.
"What do you mean? If they’re not from another race, then are they..."
"That’s right. They’re human, just like us," Qin Jianfei nodded.
"How is that possible? The other races want to slaughter us and enslave us, yet there are still humans who would spy for them?" Fang Tangtang couldn’t understand it.
But upon hearing this, Gao Neng suddenly understood.
’They’re actually human?’
In fact, before Qin Jianfei had said it, he too had been wondering how spies from other races could hide their auras. But now, he realized his thinking had been skewed.
Spies for the other races weren’t necessarily from those other races; they could also be human.
The answer seemed absurd, but in reality, if one thought about it for a moment, they would realize it wasn’t just possible—it was absolutely possible. There were likely many such cases.
And at that moment, Qin Jianfei offered an explanation.
"The question of traitors is simply one of strength versus weakness!"
"In ancient times, the weaker a nation, the more prone it was to internal strife and traitors."
"It’s the same between humans and the other races. Humanity is weak, while the other races are strong. As long as they’re promised some benefits—for example, being allowed to retain their power and influence in the future, or being given some training resources—some humans will naturally side with the other races and become traitors!"
"Of course, that’s just one type. Another type consists of those raised directly by the other races."
As Qin Jianfei spoke, a faint glint appeared in his eyes.
"Raised directly by the other races?" Fang Tangtang blinked again. Clearly, she hadn’t fully grasped the meaning yet.
"Humans are not like the other races. The vast majority of humans are ordinary," Qin Jianfei said patiently. "A hundred years ago, when the other races first arrived, their power wasn’t that great yet. So, many of them lived intermingled with humans, who revered them as people with superpowers. Some were even deified."
Qin Jianfei glanced at the surrounding screens.
There was still some time.
So, he wasn’t in a hurry to give commands and continued his explanation to Fang Tangtang.
"For example, the Celestial Race you encountered before was deified in the West a hundred years ago, becoming Angels. They were worshipped by many, and under these circumstances, it was natural for some lines to be crossed. Of course, this didn’t happen too often."
"However, hybrids of humans and the other races do indeed exist. In fact, because the resulting mixed-blood offspring inherited powerful abilities, they were once highly sought after by many—right up until the Great Cataclysm broke out in full force."
"That’s one situation, and a relatively rare one. Another is when some of the other races pose as humans to adopt from orphanages, or obtain infants through other special means, and then raise them."
"Humans raised by the other races from childhood usually have access to excellent resources, so they progress quite quickly. Once they reach adulthood, they naturally enter various fields—scientific research, combat, politics... and they’re completely impossible to guard against."
Having said this, Qin Jianfei stopped.
Fang Tangtang, however, suddenly turned to Gao Neng with a strange look on her face, her big eyes twinkling with a completely different kind of light.
"???" Gao Neng was left speechless by Fang Tangtang’s stare.
’What’s with that look?’
Just as he was thinking this, Fang Tangtang leaned in closer. "Gao Neng, you’re from the Forgotten Land, but you have such terrifying talent. Do you think it’s possible you were raised by one of the other races? Or maybe... you’re a hybrid?"
"Hybrid my ass!" Gao Neng froze for a second, then smacked Fang Tangtang right on the butt without a second thought.
SMACK!
It was just that loud.
"Ow! It was just a guess! You really are suspicious!" Fang Tangtang tried to run, but the vehicle was only so big; there was nowhere to go.
"I’m suspicious?" Gao Neng didn’t hold back anymore. He grabbed Fang Tangtang and gave her a good spanking, to make her understand that he didn’t rely on being some kind of hybrid.
’It’s my cheat!’
’It’s the System!’
’What the hell do you know!’
"Ah... Let me go, Gao Neng... Ah... It hurts!" Fang Tangtang pleaded in pain, but her two long legs kept kicking wildly.
Gao Neng really wanted to completely subdue Fang Tangtang.
But every time he pounced, he was kicked away again.
’As expected, some things really do require a certain level of technical skill.’
"Ahem." Qin Jianfei coughed pointedly, then glanced at the screen in front of them again. "What’s our distance to Ice City?"
"Sir, we are seventy kilometers away."
"Mm, order the vanguard to surround the three gates on the front and sides of Ice City at top speed. As for the rear gate... don’t surround it," Qin Jianfei nodded and gave the order.
"Understood." The staff officer immediately acknowledged and began carrying out the orders.
Throughout the entire process, the staff officer didn’t ask Qin Jianfei a single question, nor did he question his decision. This showed the level of authority Qin Jianfei commanded in the military.
But Fang Tangtang happened to overhear Qin Jianfei’s plan.
"Huh? Why leave one gate open?"
"Gao Neng, do you know why I’m leaving one gate unsurrounded?" Qin Jianfei seemed to have anticipated Fang Tangtang’s question, so he turned his gaze directly to Gao Neng.
This could be considered a ’spar’ of command.
