Chapter 681: Humanity's Final Trump Card: Plan Zero

HISS!

“An army of 300,000 aliens?!”

“They’ll attack within two hours!”

Although these words came from Qin Jianfei, they also indirectly confirmed the intelligence Gao Neng had previously reported.

Naturally, no one questioned its authenticity any longer.

Silence.

The entire conference room fell silent.

Then, a council member with graying hair and a face full of wrinkles stood up.

Gao Neng recognized this council member.

He was the oldest member of the Supreme Council, already seventy-nine this year, and his power was at the Tier Nine Late Stage.

His name was Liangshan.

Rumor had it he once had a… thing… with someone named Zhu Ying.

Ahem.

Of course, that wasn’t the point.

The point was, Liangshan’s prestige within the Alliance was actually quite high. If not for his advanced age, the person sitting in the Speaker’s seat now would not be Wu Qingjing.

“Elder Liang?” Wu Qingjing was surprised to see Liangshan stand up, but then he seemed to realize something.

“I propose we activate ‘Plan Zero’!” Liangshan announced, looking around.

“Plan Zero?!”

“What… what’s Plan Zero?”

“…”

A group of council members instantly fell silent.

Gao Neng was also silent, the reason being he had no idea what “Plan Zero” was. And it seemed he wasn’t the only one in the room who didn’t know.

At least half of the council members were in the dark.

“Plan Zero is the preparatory plan for the final, decisive battle. It’s a plan the Supreme Council discussed and has been secretly implementing since the last great war,” Wu Qingjing explained, seeming to sense the confusion in Gao Neng and most of the other council members’ minds.

“A plan the Alliance has been secretly implementing? How could we not know about it? What is it?” a council member asked, bewildered.

Hearing this, the other council members also looked toward Wu Qingjing.

“It’s…”

“Elder Liang, Speaker Wu!” Just then, another council member stood up. “Plan Zero is the Alliance’s last resort. We’re still a year away from the projected final battle. If we activate Plan Zero now… first, the plan isn’t fully mature yet. Second, what will we do a year from now?”

This was another council member at the Tier Nine Late Stage.

His name was Guo Xin.

He was seven years younger than Liangshan, but he was also one of the earliest members of the council.

“That’s right, that’s right.”

“It’s not the final moment yet…”

“…”

Immediately, other council members voiced their agreement.

“What exactly is Plan Zero? Is anyone going to explain it?” a slightly younger council member asked, looking around.

“Elder Liang, you have always been in charge of Plan Zero. Please, explain it to everyone now,” Wu Qingjing said after a brief silence, finally nodding.

“Alright. But time is tight, so I’ll keep it brief.” Liangshan showed no intention of delaying.

He walked directly to the front of the room.

Then, he took out a storage device and plugged it into a video projector.

In an instant, a blue light flared to life.

“Plan Zero, to put it simply, is the Human Alliance’s final trump card. And this trump card’s… greatest feature is this!”

Liangshan pointed his finger at the illuminated blue light.

On it, pieces of equipment that looked like ‘drones’ quickly appeared.

“As you all know, ever since the Great Cataclysm, the satellite systems in space were almost completely destroyed. This is why we can’t get a signal outside the City of Hope. The focus of Plan Zero… is the reconstruction of a ‘satellite positioning network’!”

“The reconstruction of a satellite positioning network?!” Hearing this, the uninformed council members finally showed expressions of shock.

“Yes. It’s extremely difficult. We can’t launch hundreds or thousands of satellites into space in a short time to build a new satellite positioning network!” Liangshan explained. “However, we *can* implement a temporary satellite positioning network in a fixed area!”

“This satellite positioning network has a coverage area of about one thousand square kilometers. Most importantly, it is a *mobile* satellite positioning network!”

Liangshan paused slightly after saying this.

The other council members, however, had looks of excitement on their faces. If this was really possible, it opened up so many possibilities.

“So, Plan Zero is a ‘precision strike’ plan?” a council member stood up, his eyes visibly brighter.

“Yes, that’s more or less the idea. As long as we can re-establish the ‘satellite positioning network,’ we can carry out precision strikes on every single point of the Alien Race Alliance Army!” Liangshan said again.

“I see!” By now, everyone understood.

Humanity had a technologically advanced civilization!

But in the current conflict, the Human Alliance had only applied its technology on the ‘ground,’ not in the ‘air’.

The reason was actually very simple: there was no ‘signal’.

The satellites the Human Alliance currently had left were only sufficient for some military transport routes; it was difficult to spare any more resources for military strikes.

“Why wasn’t such a good plan brought out and used sooner? If we had a satellite positioning network, would the Human Race have been forced into our current position?” another council member asked doubtfully.

“The reason is simple. This rebuilt ‘satellite positioning network’ is a one-time use system. Furthermore, because the alien races have aerial troops—like the Celestial Race, the Winged Race, and so on—it would be easily damaged once a battle begins…” Liangshan paused here before continuing, “Of course, the biggest reason is that the ‘drones’ we use to coordinate with the satellite positioning network are *also* single-use!”
