Chapter 689: The Decisive Battle: Atomic Bomb! I Don't Defend, I Only Counterattack

It was a sword, not a saber!

No… it was a saber, not a sword!

Was there a typo in the last chapter?

Gao Neng raised his saber.

He stood atop the Flying Earth Dragon. Beneath his feet, molten mud churned in a massive crater, mixed with the last vestiges of dissolving corpses.

A truly domineering scene.

Looking down from high above, one could clearly see a fan-shaped area with Gao Neng as its focal point.

The area was triangular.

Gao Neng stood at one corner of the triangle. Behind him, the triangle widened, perfectly wrapping around the walls of the Eastern District Fortress without touching them.

This was the ‘triangle zone’.

Inside the triangle zone, there was still withered grass and stone.

But outside the triangle, everything had become a roiling sea of fire.

“Invincible?” A sharp cry rang out from the Eastern District Alien Race Alliance Army’s ranks, and a figure shot out from their formation.

It was a middle-aged man covered in white fur.

He looked just like… a white ape.

However, this white ape-like man had one striking feature… his eyes were pure gold.

‘An ape? I wonder if he knows how to use a staff,’ Gao Neng mused, watching the white ape charge out.

And then, the white ape pulled a staff out of thin air…

Fifty feet long!

And at least six feet thick!

It was, in a word, enormous.

But he hefted this long, thick staff with a single hand and began to spin it. Faster, and faster, and faster…

Spinning.

Leaping…

With my eyes closed!

The white ape fully embodied the essence of the word ‘spin,’ brandishing the staff like a massive wind turbine.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

WHOOSH!

A furious wind erupted.

It forcefully blocked the wave of heat.

This was somewhat bizarre.

Normally, wind feeds a fire.

Logically, the wind from the ape’s staff should have made the fire spread, but that wasn’t what happened. As the wind blew, a torrent of rain and hail followed in its wake.

‘This is an ape that can control wind and rain! And his weapon is a staff, too!’ Gao Neng instantly sized him up.

As for the white ape’s strength…

It was obvious without even thinking.

He was one of the alien races’… Strongest!

Gao Neng had heard that among the alien races, there was a ‘Primate Race.’ Their numbers were few, but every single one of them was incredibly powerful.

Furthermore, this race had a unique characteristic… they were all monkeys and apes.

‘The Primate Race? The strongest race in the Eastern District besides the Celestial Race and the Beast Race!’ Gao Neng had originally thought the one to act would be the Beast Race Sword Saint, or perhaps a Six-winged Great Angel of the Celestial Race.

He never expected it would be the Strongest of the Primate Race.

The one known as the Stick King… Yuan Liu.

WHOOSH!

The flames on the ground gradually died out.

However, the sound of agonized screams was still unending.

Fang Tangtang’s atomic bomb had landed right in the middle of the fifty-thousand-strong vanguard, essentially causing a flower of destruction to bloom in their midst.

The troops in the rear could retreat, but those at the front were trapped, unable to advance or fall back.

“This should be enough. We’ve bought plenty of time.” Gao Neng glanced at the ground. The massive crater had already formed, lying like a chasm between the two armies.

Though it had wrecked the terrain a bit and caused some environmental damage and pollution, the result was ideal. It would now be much harder for the alien races to charge as they had before.

You can cross mountains and seas.

But this crater between us is one you’ll find hard to cross.

…

Logically speaking, it was time for Gao Neng to retreat.

And as it happened, Gao Neng was indeed a reasonable person. So, when he saw Yuan Liu and the dozen or so other figures in the distance turn their gazes back to him, he gave them a direct wave.

“Bye-bye!”

And Gao Neng was gone.

With a wave of his hand, he left, taking only the little loli Fang Tangtang with him.

What he left behind was a field of screams.

This was Gao Neng’s welcoming gift to the Eastern District Alien Race Alliance Army, and also the first shot he fired in this war.

“So he really can teleport?” Yuan Liu watched the spot where Gao Neng had vanished, his eyes narrowing. He glanced down below, showing no intention of giving chase.

SWISH!

Yuan Liu also vanished from midair.

A moment later, he reappeared beside the Beast Race Sword Saint and the Six-winged Great Angel.

“Launching another siege anytime soon will be difficult.”

“Indeed. But… since he gave us a gift, we should return the favor. That’s how reciprocity works,” the Six-winged Great Angel said with a nod.

“Brother Tian Shi, what’s the plan?” Yuan Liu asked the Six-winged Great Angel.

“No, I have no plan,” the Six-winged Great Angel replied, shaking his head.

“No plan?”

“Correct. Any plan has its flaws. Only absolute power is flawless,” the Six-winged Great Angel said, gazing into the distance.

“Brother Tian Shi, you mean?”

“Doesn’t Gao Neng love to play his killer move right from the start? Fine, let’s indulge him. He gave us one atomic bomb; we’ll give him ten back!”

“Ten times?” one of the Strongest murmured, stunned for a second before realization dawned. “I see. I understand now!”

“Mm, that’s right!”

“Then what are we waiting for?”

“Let’s give them a gift in return!”

At that moment, all the alien Strongest smiled.

What was this so-called absolute power?

It was the Strongest!

And how many Strongest were present right now?
