Chapter 713: Chapter 433: Nurturing a Flying Corpse? An Army Covered in Talismans_3
"Click!"
A crisp sound of a mechanism being triggered echoed sharply in the relatively quiet tomb chamber.
One soldier, while moving a pile of jewels in the deepest corner, accidentally activated the hidden trap below!
"Watch out! It’s a trap!"
Nearby, the supervising Feng Shui Master and Deputy Mo’s excited smiles froze into terror, nearly shouting in a desperate warning!
However, it was already too late.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—!"
Suddenly, the sharp sound of arrows cutting through the air exploded from all directions within the tomb walls!
Countless dark crossbow arrows shot out from concealed holes on the walls, covering most of the tomb chamber!
A shower of arrows poured down!
The five hundred soldiers, upon hearing the sound of the mechanism and the piercing noise, all paled in an instant with extreme terror etched on their faces!
Facing this all-encompassing deadly rain of arrows, they had nowhere to hide, only instinctively raising their arms to protect their heads and vital areas, awaiting the agonizing pain of arrows piercing through their bodies.
However—"Clang, clang—!"
"Clang! Clang! Clang!"
A dense sound, like a torrential rain beating on a tin roof, suddenly exploded in the tomb chamber!
The expected spray of blood and flesh did not appear. The sharp arrows, powerful enough to penetrate iron armor, hit the soldiers’ bodies as if encountering an invisible steel barrier!
The arrowheads twisted, snapped, and shattered upon contact with the soldiers’ flesh!
Within mere moments, the fierce rain of arrows came to a halt.
Instead of bodies, the ground was covered with broken arrow shafts and shattered arrowheads, laying at the feet of each terrified soldier.
Deathly silence!
Everyone stared, wide-eyed and speechless, at the shattered arrows at their feet, unbelievingly touching their unharmed bodies, too shocked to speak.
Deputy Mo also looked down at the crossbow arrows with completely cracked arrowheads at his feet, instinctively touched his chest and head, his mind blank.
Only one absurd thought remained: When did my head become harder than iron?
At this moment, Deputy Mo suddenly recalled the incredible scene last night when his palm blocked a bullet, and in a flash of realization, he quickly pulled out the crimson triangular talisman from his chest and raised it high!
"It’s the talisman! It’s the Divine Talisman granted by the Grand Commander!" His voice was so excited it was slightly out of tune.
He shouted to all the shaken soldiers, his voice violently echoing in the spacious tomb chamber.
"Don’t be afraid, everyone! The Grand Commander’s might is unmatched; he predicted the danger here and granted us the talisman for protection! With this Divine Talisman, we’re immune to blades and bullets, impervious to all evil!"
With Deputy Mo’s reminder, all the soldiers immediately reacted, pulling out from their chests the similarly styled crimson triangular talismans personally distributed by Deputy Mo earlier.
Looking at the treasure that saved their lives, then thinking of the Grand Commander sitting above, with unerring foresight.
A surge of fervent worship mixed with endless gratitude instantly welled up in their hearts.
Someone began to cheer, and eruptive shouts like mountains echoing seas swept through the tomb chamber.
"Long live the Grand Commander!"
"Long live the Grand Commander—!"
The sound waves shook the dust from the tomb ceiling.
The initial fear and panic completely transformed into high spirits and boundless energy.
With the Grand Commander’s Divine Talisman for protection, what is there to fear?
The soldiers’ eyes burned brighter, their movements became more agile, and their gazes on the central coffin less fearful, more eager and fierce.
