I Can Devour Monsters' SSS Talents
Chapter 659: Death Is A Mercy
The Devourer Egg.
The mysterious egg he had obtained a long time ago, which increased the growth of the embryo inside it by feeding on monster corpses.
Lian placed it on a relatively stable stone surface.
He looked at its dark shell for a moment and then said with a short smile.
"Well, I think today is your lucky day."
The egg’s shell trembled slightly.
The young Vorhelm pointed toward the bodies scattered around.
"You can eat every corpse around here, just be careful not to get caught or discovered."
For several seconds, nothing happened.
Then the dark lines on the shell began to glow, thin black threads came out from around the egg and spread across the stone surface.
These threads were part of the egg’s feeding system, when they reached the corpses, they slowly broke down the remains of the bodies and transferred the energy and materials needed for the embryo’s growth into the shell.
The first thread reached the corpse of a Withered, and a few moments later, the creature’s body began to break down, and more threads started moving behind it.
Lian watched the scene for a moment.
"Good, you finally got a chance to eat as much as you want."
He knew the egg needed a large amount of monster remains to complete its growth, and now, hundreds of corpses were scattered across the battlefield.
It couldn’t get any better than this.
He kept the egg hidden behind several large rocks and among the thick smoke so that it would remain out of sight of Rindo and the attackers.
Then he opened his black wings.
"Now I need to make sure the Castellan doesn’t steal all your food."
A few moments later, he returned to the sky, but this time, his gaze remained fixed on the Nine-Venom Castellan.
The creature was still standing among the poisonous rings, and as soon as it saw Lian, it turned its head toward him.
As if it had been waiting for his return the entire time.
He gave a short smile.
"Well, now it’s not just you and me."
Then he looked toward the hundreds of remaining Withered.
"But first, I need to finish these."
He raised his right hand, the Bloodborne Calamity Domain was still active in parts of the battlefield, the red mist moved around the Withered’s feet and weakened their resistance.
Lian sent a new flow of mana into the domain.
The mist became denser, and then the golden light of the Hollow Sun turned dark across a large part of the battlefield.
[Corrupt Sun]
Dozens of threads of corrupted light formed in the sky.
But this time, instead of targeting each creature separately, he arranged the threads into a large network along the main paths where the Withered were moving.
The corrupted light settled on their defensive layers, and then Eclipse Energy began to weaken their mana structures, and just as their defenses became weaker, End Energy entered those same points.
The young Vorhelm closed his fingers.
BOOOOOOM!
Several paths collapsed from within at the same time.
The weakened bodies of the Withered were destroyed under the pressure of the energy, and a large part of the plain disappeared among dust and dark blood.
But other groups still remained.
Lian looked toward them.
"Next."
A new flow of dark light appeared, and once again, a large group of Withered fell to the ground, at the same time, the Devourer Egg continued feeding among the smoke.
Every corpse that came close to the black threads was slowly broken down, and its materials were transferred into the shell.
The Nine-Venom Castellan noticed the decrease in the number of creatures from a distance.
But what caught its attention even more was that some of the life energy from the corpses was no longer available to it.
The creature tilted its head slightly and then looked back at Lian, for a moment, the mana pressure around its crown increased.
But the young Vorhelm only smiled.
"Yeah, not everything is going to belong to you."
At that moment, the sound of breaking stone came from the north.
Lian turned his gaze.
Part of Rindo’s platform had cracked, and several Withered were moving toward it through a narrow path.
One was still busy in the south, and Two had to defend against attacks from two directions at the same time.
Rindo prepared his spear, but Lian noticed that one of the attackers was Level 50.
More trouble.
He was about to move toward the platform when the Nine-Venom Castellan quickly appeared in front of him, and the creature’s right claw moved toward his chest.
The young Vorhelm redirected the strike with his forearm, but white poison came out from around the claw and disrupted the defensive mana layer around his hand for a moment.
Then the second claw approached from a lower angle.
Lian was forced to move backward.
"This creature is deliberately not letting me get away from it." He frowned slightly.
Unlike Roderick, the Castellan did not attack without thinking.
Every time Lian tried to change his path, the creature used one of its poisons to limit his movement and forced him to move from another angle.
Even now, a dark blue stream had spread across the battlefield to make it harder to judge the creature’s real distance.
He narrowed his eyes for a moment and then gave a faint smile.
"Alright."
He lowered his right hand.
"Then let’s get a little more serious."
A huge flow of mana spread from around his body, and at that exact moment, black armor plates appeared one after another.
First on his arms, then his shoulders, and finally his chest and legs, the heavy pieces locked into place with metallic sounds, and the silver lines between them began to glow.
[World-Devourer Bastion]
Two black wings opened behind his armored body.
The Nine-Venom Castellan stopped for a moment, its gaze moved across the armor plates, and then it slowly lowered its head, while the nine poisonous streams around its body became denser.
But Lian did not wait any longer, his wings moved, and he flew toward his target at high speed.
BOOM!
He appeared directly in front of the Castellan, and his right fist moved toward its face covered by a bone mask.
The creature raised its hand.
But at the last moment, Lian changed the direction of his strike, and at that same moment, a huge ice claw covered his hand.
[Glacial Reaper Claw]
His fist struck the side of the armor.
BAAANG!
Part of the black covering cracked.
The Castellan tried to retreat, but gravity increased in a small area around its body.
[Core of the Fallen Star]
The creature became heavier for a fraction of a second, and at that same moment, Lian drove his knee into its stomach.
BAAANG!
The Castellan’s four-meter-tall body left the ground, but before it could land on the stones, another punch from Lian struck its chest.
[Disaster Suppression Fist]
BOOOOOOM!
A huge force passed through the point of impact and broke the creature’s natural armor from within, the Castellan was thrown several meters backward and struck one of the ancient pillars.
The pillar broke apart in the middle.
Even so, the monster had no chance to rest.
Two gray phantoms appeared one after another, and each of them struck it with a destructive punch before disappearing.
[Funeral of the Nameless]
The creature roared in pain and anger.
But this time, Lian did not even wait for the dust to settle, he moved toward the northern platform, and a few seconds later, landed in front of the Level 50 Withered.
The creature was about to attack Rindo with its thick arm.
But before it could reach him, the young Vorhelm grabbed its wrist, the Withered tried to free its hand, but he only increased the pressure of his fingers.
CRACK!
The bones in the creature’s arm broke.
Then Lian lifted its huge body from the ground with one movement and threw it toward the group of attackers behind it.
BAAANG!
Three Withered fell under the impact.
Rindo let out a short breath.
"Lian, there are still several more creatures here!"
The young Vorhelm nodded.
"I saw them."
He raised his hand.
[Glacial Reaper Claw]
The huge ice claw passed through the narrow path and pushed several attackers backward.
Then Lian looked at his friend.
"Stay here, I don’t want to have to come back every few seconds."
Rindo looked at him for a moment and then tightened his grip on his spear.
"Don’t worry about me, just keep those two lunatics away from here."
"One of them really is crazy." Lian gave a short laugh.
But before he could even finish his sentence, familiar laughter came from the west.
"Hahahaha!"
Roderick had appeared again, he did not even pause when he saw the World-Devourer Bastion armor.
He simply charged toward Lian with his Ascended Mana.
The young Vorhelm let out a short sigh.
"You’re really getting annoying, I didn’t want to do this, but I guess you’ve left me no choice."
Sometimes, death was the only way to give someone peace.
And if his enemies refused to stop, Lian was more than willing to give them that peace himself.
