Chapter 141: Chapter 131: Intriguing!
"Heh... Little fry, at least you know your place. However, I have absolutely no interest in a nobody like you. You are neither worthy nor qualified to challenge me. Get out of here!" Yun Feng said.
"Are you scared?" Shangguan Xiu’Er asked. "If you’re scared, tuck your tail between your legs and roll out of Celestial Fragrance! Crawl back into your gloomy, filthy Demon Abyss and never appear before Master again!"
"Tsk, tsk..." Yun Feng glanced at Shangguan Xiu’Er. Judging by her expression, she wasn’t bluffing. "Interesting, truly interesting... Do you have any idea about the gap between us?"
"I do, but... anyone who wishes to humiliate my master must first step over my dead body. Unlike some people, I would never betray my master and forget past kindnesses!" Shangguan Xiu’Er glared at Yun Feng sarcastically.
Yun Feng’s gaze didn’t waver. He met Shangguan Xiu’Er’s eyes calmly, as if he weren’t the one being accused of such heinous betrayal. Just how cold-blooded must a person be to act so unbothered? Crossing his arms, his index finger tapped rhythmically against his bicep. "Well said. I really like your personality... In that case... I’ve decided to step over your dead body. Crushing one more ant seems to be... of little consequence. I... accept your challenge!"
Hearing these words, Yun Buliu, who had been standing there in a daze, finally snapped back to reality. He had been caught in a stupor. Never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined that Yun Feng—the boy he had raised single-handedly like his own flesh and blood—would turn into such a deranged demon.
Looking back on Yun Feng’s upbringing... other than being a bit strict, Yun Buliu had never done him wrong. Why? Why had his personality become so twisted? Yun Buliu couldn’t believe it!
"You have no right to accept her challenge," Yun Buliu stated calmly, though his face was deathly pale. "Our competition isn’t over yet! There is still half a stick of incense left before our time is up. Right now... you are in no position to accept a challenge from anyone else."
Everyone turned their gaze toward the half-burned incense at the edge of the arena. They had previously set a time limit of one stick of incense. As long as time hadn’t run out, even if a cauldron exploded, the participant could continue their Alchemy.
"A futile struggle. As a mere King Level Alchemist, why waste your time?" Yun Feng scoffed.
Ignoring Yun Feng, Yun Buliu turned to Shangguan Xiu’Er. "A master’s debts are his own to repay. I order you... you are not to challenge Yun Feng!"
"My, my, my... I was wondering why you suddenly brought up the remaining half stick of incense. So this isn’t just to drag out meaningless time, but to protect this irrational, ignorant woman who is about to dig her own grave!" Yun Feng mocked. Yun Buliu knew Shangguan Xiu’Er was no match for Yun Feng. He had brought up the remaining time solely to interrupt their duel agreement.
"Master..." Shangguan Xiu’Er’s eyes brimmed with tears.
"Remember, if you disobey my words, I won’t be able to rest in peace even in death!" Yun Buliu’s heart was filled with despair.
"What a magnificent bond between master and disciple! Truly touching! I’m almost moved to tears!" Yun Feng pressed on aggressively.
"I know that when I die later, you will be deeply grieved," Yun Buliu continued, ignoring him. "However... you must not lose your rationality. No matter how he tries to provoke you now, ignore him. You must follow Master Su and learn his skills. Once you have enough strength, you can avenge me. Remember... do not fall for his taunts. You must endure. Endure until the day you can completely crush him before making your move!"
"Are you leaving your dying words now? She’s just an ignorant woman, and you expect her to surpass me? Master, you must be getting senile!" Yun Feng chimed in from the side.
"Master..." Tears streamed down Shangguan Xiu’Er’s face.
"Hurry up and go. Besides... it’s not a certainty that I’ll lose, right? Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky later, refine a Holy Pill, and suddenly win?" Yun Buliu smiled bitterly, waving his hand to usher Shangguan Xiu’Er off the stage.
He turned around, leaving Shangguan Xiu’Er with a desolate view of his back. Under the sunlight, his figure appeared tottering and frail. He walked step by step toward the Alchemy Cauldron. He looked like a withered, brittle branch in the snow—lonely and sorrowful.
"MASTER!!!" Shangguan Xiu’Er cried out in grief.
Yun Buliu’s footsteps faltered for a moment before he continued forward. Arriving beside the Alchemy Cauldron, he closed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh.
"Let me see just what you can accomplish in this half stick of incense time!" Yun Feng stood with his arms crossed, watching Yun Buliu with an amused expression. In his eyes, Yun Buliu was merely prolonging his dying breath.
It was true; Yun Buliu simply wanted to quietly stall for time so that Shangguan Xiu’Er wouldn’t act impulsively and could calm down. Therefore, he stood by the Alchemy Cauldron with his eyes closed, making no move to continue with the Alchemy.
"Sigh... You really are a disappointment to your master!" At this moment, a flat, indifferent sentence suddenly echoed in his ears.
"Hmm?" Yun Buliu’s eyes snapped open. He looked in Su Tan’s direction, specifically at the Little White Wolf. He recognized it as the Little White Wolf’s voice, transmitted via Divine Sense.
In his chair, Su Tan sat quietly with the Little White Wolf resting in his arms. His expression was as placid as an ancient well, as if Yun Buliu’s failure couldn’t stir even the slightest ripple within him.
"Do you know that with Mr. Su and me here, along with Yun Chu and Yun Menglong, you won’t die? You know we won’t let you perish. However, you have made your own choice. A loss is a loss, and you’re willing to accept the consequences of the bet. Even if we try to protect you later, you plan to keep your word and end your own life? Or perhaps... you want to use your death to save the misguided Yun Feng and awaken his conscience?"
Yun Buliu was indeed thinking exactly that. Upon hearing those words, he bowed deeply in Su Tan’s direction, confirming his foolish choice. His actions had already made his stance clear, silently urging the Little White Wolf and Su Tan not to persuade him otherwise.
Pity the hearts of parents everywhere... Yun Buliu had always treated Yun Feng as his own son, and he still did. Even at this dire stage, he was actually still trying to figure out how to awaken Yun Feng’s humanity!
