Chapter 166: Chapter 166: A Battle Ahead I

Freya finally joined the fight in earnest.

Silver lightning spread from her body, forming several streaks that swept through the incoming beasts. Her attacks struck with incredible force, leaving the creatures unable to withstand the energy surging through them.

A large Lightning Elemental beast attempted to confront her, releasing a powerful bolt from its horns.

Freya simply raised one of her tails.

Silver lightning surged forward and collided with the attack, overpowering it before striking the beast directly.

The creature was thrown backward, crashing into several others.

Sylphie followed from above, releasing a wide range of wind art that pushed the beasts into the area controlled by Shiro and Caelia.

The combination of their attacks made a noticeable difference.

With Freya dealing heavy damage and Sylphie controlling the flow of the swarm, the group could focus on the beasts that posed the greatest threat.

Damon watched their coordination with satisfaction.

They were no longer simply fighting beside one another. They were beginning to understand how to use their abilities together, covering weaknesses and creating openings without needing constant instructions.

That was the kind of growth he wanted.

He raised his hand, and several more ice spears appeared around him.

"Let’s clear the rest."

The spears shot forward, cutting through the beasts that had gathered near the front. Lightning erupted wherever they struck, while the wind carried them through the gaps between the creatures.

Freya and Sylphie continued their assault, and the rest of the group followed their lead.

The swarm began to thin.

Yet the battle was far from easy. Some of the stronger beasts continued to resist, and the unstable Aether made it difficult to maintain their Arts for long periods.

Caelia could feel the strain building in her body, but she refused to slow down.

She had come here to help Damon, and she wasn’t going to leave everything to him.

As another A-rank beast charged toward Shiro, she immediately raised a series of ice spears and launched them from different angles. The beast dodged the first few, but the remaining attacks forced it toward Shiro’s Frost Chains.

Shiro restrained it, and Snow struck its exposed side.

Caelia gathered her Aether and formed a larger spear.

"Frost Spear!"

The attack pierced the beast’s defenses, bringing it down.

She exhaled and glanced toward Damon.

He was still moving through the battlefield, his control over the three elements allowing him to deal with several beasts at once. Even while fighting, he occasionally shifted his attention toward the others, making sure no one was in serious danger.

Caelia understood that he was holding back some of his strength to give them room to fight.

But even then, his performance was astonishing.

She tightened her fists.

’I still have a long way to go.’

The thought didn’t discourage her. Instead, it gave her another reason to improve.

She looked at Snow and Shiro, then smiled.

"Let’s keep going."

The two Frost Elementals responded eagerly.

With their combined efforts, the remaining beasts were gradually overwhelmed. The last few tried to retreat into the storm, but Sylphie intercepted them with powerful wind arts killing them instantly, while Freya finished the few that escaped with bursts of silver lightning.

Soon, the immediate path was clear.

The ground was covered with fallen beasts, and the sound of battle began to fade as the remaining creatures scattered into the distance.

Damon lowered his hand, allowing the remaining ice spears to dissolve.

He glanced at his group.

"Everyone alright?"

Caelia nodded, though she was breathing a little harder than before.

"Just a little tired."

"That’s expected. You all did well."

He looked toward Shiro.

"And that was a good use of Frostbound Sanctuary. You managed to separate the stronger beasts without wasting too much Aether."

Shiro raised his head proudly.

Damon smiled.

"Keep improving. We’ll need that control when we reach the frontline."

He turned toward the distant battlefield.

The sounds of fighting were still echoing beyond the storm, and the occasional flashes of elemental energy suggested that the human defenders were still struggling.

They had cleared a path through the swarm, but the number of beasts ahead was still concerning.

Damon’s expression grew serious again.

"Let’s move. We can’t afford to waste any more time."

Caelia nodded and moved beside him.

As the group advanced, they passed more signs of the destruction caused by the swarm. Broken equipment and abandoned supplies lay scattered across the ground, and the remains of explorers reminded them that not everyone had managed to escape the zone.

Caelia looked at the fallen remains in silence.

Damon noticed but didn’t interrupt her thoughts. He simply slowed down enough for her to keep pace before continuing toward the frontline.

They had trained, adapted, and grown stronger throughout their journey.

Now it was time to put that strength to use where it mattered most.

And judging by the battle raging ahead, they would need every bit of it.

Damon and his group continued toward the frontline, moving as quickly as the unstable environment allowed.

Caelia walked beside him, but her thoughts were still on the battle they had just fought. She had watched Damon lead the charge himself, taking down high-ranking beasts while coordinating everyone else’s movements.

It hadn’t been reckless. He had known exactly what he was doing.

His willingness to fight at the front had motivated the others, and seeing him handle so many beasts with such ease had given them the confidence to push harder.

Yet Caelia couldn’t shake the feeling that he had been holding back.

Even his Spirit Elementals hadn’t used many of their stronger Arts. Freya and Sylphie had dealt with the beasts efficiently, while Shiro had gained valuable experience without being pushed beyond his limits.

’Just how much strength are they holding back?’

Caelia glanced at Damon, who was walking ahead with a relaxed expression. He was even chatting with Freya, who seemed particularly pleased with their recent battles.

It was strange.

They had just fought through a massive swarm of high-ranking beasts, yet Damon and his spirits were acting as though they had finished an ordinary training session.
