I Can Extract Divine Power
Chapter 741: Ten Thousand Gu Insects
Chapter 741: Chapter 222: Ten Thousand Gu Insects
It was a fact. Chief Wan wasn’t lying.
Everyone in the Jianghu said Shen Bai was vicious and merciless, a man who killed without batting an eye and was hopelessly mercurial.
They were genuinely afraid that if Shen Bai found out, he would force them to abandon the Ten Thousand Gu Insects and leave the Gu Village.
Shen Bai: “…”
‘He hadn’t expected it was all for such a dramatic reason.’
Shen Bai turned his head and asked, “Am I that scary?”
“I’ve always thought of myself as a gentle and refined person.”
The corner of Ding Quan’s mouth twitched. “Lord Shen isn’t scary at all. Lord Shen is virtuous and kind, a model for everyone in the Observatory.”
Shen Bai mused, “You sound so insincere.”
Ding Quan: “…”
‘What else was he supposed to do?’
‘He wasn’t good at flattery. The fact that he could even string those words together was already an accomplishment.’
Shen Bai ignored Ding Quan and turned his head. “Did they leave any clues before they left?”
Now that the situation was clear, Shen Bai had no intention of wasting any more time.
If there were clues, he would use his Infinite Divination Skill to track down the Yue Sect members. Then he would kill who needed to be killed and capture who needed to be captured.
Chief Wan thought for a moment before saying, “Nothing else, but there is something regarding the Ten Thousand Gu Insects.”
“We had an agreement that each sect would be responsible for caring for the Ten Thousand Gu Insects for a period. Shortly before they left, they repeatedly asked to see the Ten Thousand Gu Insects, but we refused every time.”
As he spoke, Chief Wan grew more and more alarmed.
‘If that’s the case, then there really is something strange about the Ten Thousand Gu Insects.’
‘This whole affair might have something to do with the Ten Thousand Gu Insects after all.’
Cold sweat beaded on Chief Wan’s forehead.
Shen Bai shot him a glance. “Take me to see the Ten Thousand Gu Insects.”
Chief Wan hesitated for a moment, then sighed. “Lord Shen, please follow me.”
‘He had no choice.’
Things had come to a head, and Shen Bai himself was here. By the looks of it, he was dead set on capturing the members of the Yue Sect.
If Chief Wan so much as whispered his reluctance now, he was afraid Shen Bai’s sword would be at his throat.
‘Fine, let him investigate. At least it will clear the Zhou Sect of suspicion.’
Shen Bai followed Chief Wan out the door.
Outside, many of the Gu Village’s inhabitants were watching them curiously.
When they felt Shen Bai’s gaze on them, they all instinctively looked away, a chill running down their spines.
Chief Wan led Shen Bai down the quaint, ancient street, finally stopping before a small, three-story pagoda.
“Lord Shen, the Ten Thousand Gu Insects are on the top floor.”
With that, Chief Wan moved to push the door open.
Just then, an aged voice called out.
“Wan Qi, have you lost your mind? The Ten Thousand Gu Insects are recuperating! How dare you bring an outsider in here!”
Shen Bai turned his gaze to see a gray-haired old man hurrying over to block Chief Wan’s path.
Chief Wan said hastily, “Grand Elder, this is Lord Shen from the Observatory. He’s here to investigate…”
“Lord Shen, no investigation! Can you please wait a few more months? We are allies of the Great Zhou Country! Once the Ten Thousand Gu Insects complete their transformation, we can provide even greater assistance to the Lingyun Dao.”
The Grand Elder cut Chief Wan off, his tone urgent as he looked at Shen Bai.
Sweat immediately broke out on Chief Wan’s forehead.
‘His decision did indeed go against the Gu Village’s traditions.’
‘But he never imagined the Grand Elder would dare stand in Shen Bai’s way.’
Behind Shen Bai, Ding Quan’s brow furrowed as he began to draw the long saber at his waist.
But Shen Bai placed a hand on Ding Quan’s, stopping him. “No rush.”
Ding Quan immediately re-sheathed his saber and said respectfully, “Yes!”
Shen Bai looked at the Grand Elder. “You intend to stop me?”
The Grand Elder said loudly, “Lord Shen, we are loyal to the Great Zhou Country and wish to be friends of the Observatory. I wouldn’t dare stop you, Lord Shen. I just hope that you can, for friendship’s sake…”
Shen Bai cut him off. “Are you threatening me?”
The Grand Elder froze, cold sweat covering his forehead.
‘He could feel the overwhelming killing intent radiating from Shen Bai.’
Shen Bai continued, “Chief Wan, this proves the situation is far more serious than you imagined.”
Chief Wan’s face was a mask of confusion.
Shen Bai scanned the Grand Elder with his Void-breaking Red Eye and said slowly, “It seems the Great Yue Country isn’t the only one involved. Even some old relics from the Era of Ten Thousand Cities have decided to join in.”
As his words fell, the Grand Elder’s expression changed drastically.
Immediately, a swarm of Gu Insects burst from beneath his legs, lifting him into the air and carrying him away at high speed.
But before he could fly even ten meters, a sharp pain shot through his legs.
The Grand Elder looked down, only to see his legs turning to ash.
Shen Bai had him by the throat, his voice incomparably sinister. “You remnants are so damn annoying.”
