I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 346: Chapter 230: New Boat, What to Name It?
For the next few days, Gu Nan continued taking Ye Jing out to sea, fishing through the night and returning in the morning.
"The rougher the seas, the pricier the fish"—a saying that proved completely true this Mid-Autumn Festival.
However, their hauls weren’t always that great. For instance, the time they caught over fifty jin of large yellow croakers in a single night only happened once.
Catching ten or twenty jin a night was considered a very good haul. Fortunately, Gu Nan had other fishing spots. If the bite was slow, he’d switch locations to fish for some sea bream and grouper, so they never ended the day with small earnings.
While they weren’t making over a hundred thousand on a single trip, Ye Jing was pulling in at least ten thousand yuan a day, which had him so thrilled he was practically bubbling over with joy.
The seafood shop had been swamped these past few days, too. During the Mid-Autumn peak, Yi Chen had to call in her younger sister just to help take payments, giving her a hundred yuan a day for spending money.
The main reason was that she’d gotten an idea from Ye Jing and had started buying fish from the fishing club and Gu Nan’s online fishing group. The response was overwhelming.
Fishermen often have large catches, but it’s not easy for them to set up their own stalls and sell everything off slowly.
They’d rather sell to a fishmonger or a seafood shop than sell it cheap themselves. It was better to sell everything at once, get paid quickly, and save the effort.
They couldn’t compete if they sold at market prices, and they didn’t have connections to restaurants. If they waited too long, the fish would lose its freshness, and they would be the ones taking the loss.
That’s why most chose to sell directly to fishmongers and seafood shops.
Since Yi Chen was buying fish and offered fair prices without haggling, more and more people started coming to her to sell their catch.
Thankfully, with the foundation Gu Nan had built thanks to his "cheat," they had a solid base of repeat customers and partnerships with several restaurants. This meant they could move the extra fish bought from other fishermen without it piling up.
However, they had now reached capacity. As a result, she started buying exclusively from her regulars, turning away any new or unfamiliar sellers.
Gu Nan wasn’t sure exactly how much he had earned during that period. As soon as the Mid-Autumn Festival was over, he got busy with his engagement and moving house.
Gu Dacheng didn’t have much to say about him moving in with Yi Chen’s family, but his mother, Zhao Suying, had a few reservations.
Fortunately, after he explained it was only a temporary arrangement, his mom relented and gave her tacit approval.
The happiest of all had to be Zhao Chunlan. She had thought her granddaughter would be moving out, but instead, her grandson-in-law was moving in.
Yi Chen’s room didn’t change much, except her full-sized bed was swapped out for a king-sized one.
Another room on the second floor that had been used for storage was also modified. It was partitioned into two smaller rooms; one remained for storage, while the other became their walk-in closet.
They moved all their winter clothes into the new closet, which freed up a lot of space in the bedroom wardrobe. It now easily held both Yi Chen’s and Gu Nan’s summer attire.
However, the lease on his rental house hadn’t expired yet. He wouldn’t get the rent back if he broke the lease—only the security deposit, at best—so he left some of his fishing gear and apparel there.
He didn’t bring over his bedding either. That way, if it was ever inconvenient to go back to Yi Chen’s place, he could still sleep there.
After moving in together, the young couple, freshly engaged and with their marriage certificate in hand, began to live like newlyweds.
Cuddling his new bride to sleep every night, Gu Nan found himself barely going out for night fishing anymore.
His official fishing hauls dropped significantly, much to the chagrin of Ye Jing, who always tagged along.
But there was nothing to be done. Even though he had made a little over two hundred thousand yuan during the Mid-Autumn Festival, buying even a small, used fishing boat from anyone else would still cost a fortune.
And so, time passed, bringing them to November 3rd. Yangjiang Port had entered that transitional season between warm and cool.
On the streets, you could often see young women wearing long-sleeved shirts and jackets on top, paired with the "bare-leg artifact" on the bottom.
Gu Nan was at the wheel, enjoying the beautiful scenery on the road with Ye Jing and An Jun.
They were on their way to the shipyard. Today, the testing on his new, large boat was finally complete, and it was ready for pickup.
"The new boat’s finally ready. You excited, Ah Nan?" An Jun asked, turning around after carefully appraising a beautiful woman’s long, black-stockinged legs.
"What a stupid question!" Ye Jing shot back. "We’ve been waiting over three whole months for this boat. Ah Nan’s been stuck fishing inshore waters this whole time. He’s been itching to go out."
And speaking of excitement, it wasn’t just Gu Nan; Ye Jing was thrilled too!
Once the new boat arrived, he could go with them on a long-range trip. He imagined hauling in massive catches of deep-sea fish, filling the boat to the brim. Just the thought of it was exhilarating.
Plus, he was finally getting his own boat, even if it was third-hand.
The two of them had already agreed on the price: one hundred fifty thousand.
Gu Nan had only used it for a few months, but he’d put a lot of hours on it.
As a result, the fishing boat was due for a major maintenance overhaul. Since Ye Jing was buying it, the cost of the repairs would naturally fall to him, which was one of the reasons Gu Nan was selling it to him on the cheap.
"Of course I’m excited," Gu Nan said. "I’m planning to head out to the far seas this time, for up to a week. You guys go home and get everything ready today. We leave tomorrow morning."
Gu Nan was definitely looking forward to it, especially since his new fishing rod had been unusable for nearly two months.
’When I got the golden Bering Sea fishing rod, it meant all the seafood in the Bering Sea map was unlocked for me.’
’But there aren’t many species from the Bering Sea that are suitable for long-term sale in the shop—just snow crab, Emperor Crab, salmon, cod, deep-sea scorpionfish, and alfonsino. All told, it’s barely a dozen varieties.’
’Once the aquarium and chilled seafood sections were stocked to a certain level, I started listing them for sale in both shops.’
’So, naturally, I had to consider the seafood from a new map. But as it turned out, the newly unlocked Mediterranean fishing rod is useless unless I take the boat out to the far seas.’
