I Can Program My Body?

Chapter 731: Population Trade (2)

As Dain explained his reasoning, most quickly came to an understanding.

Indeed, all this while, the territory and population they had bought here had been nothing but a burden. Although they produced the power of will, because it wasn’t concentrated, it had almost no effect.

Instead of helping, they had to feed, protect, and manage them, which dragged them down a little.

"What about our family? Friends?"

"You can take them too. Of course, according to the rules, you can only bring up to the third generation of your family."

"No, this is not enough! We will not agree with this!"

Up to the third generation? Most of the cosmic elites had bought their home planet, their people, their empire, a whole generation of their family. Could they abandon them just for more profit?

"You can also join the Neon Star Alliance. I’m not stopping you. Whether you remain on the team or not, I will not hold hard feelings." Dain said, looking at everyone.

What he wanted was warriors who could fight, not guardians who would protect. This was a dangerous place; one couldn’t be too soft-hearted.

"Fine, I’ll leave!"

"Me too!"

"What about the profits? Will we be splitting those too?"

"No, they’re owned by the Perrin Alliance. Once you leave, you no longer have a share."

"Dain, you’re greedy and ruthless enough."

"I’m just deciding what’s best for us cosmic elites. Don’t worry, I heard the pay in the Neon Star Alliance is generous."

"Hmph! Goodbye, and never let me see you again!"

Deciding to quit, almost a third of the Verrin Alliance’s cosmic elites decided to leave. Although they understood Dain’s intentions, they didn’t agree with them.

Meanwhile, while the high-level teams were caught up in their own drama, the low- and mid-level teams decided to go all out and sold off all their territories.

Unlike the high-level teams, which still held dreams of victory and conquest, they only wanted to survive and earn more wealth.

With the dark gate, they could quit and leave the wild void area at any time. Wanting to accumulate enough for their future, they wanted nothing more than to roam the void, massacre dark beasts, and search for resources.

The only thing they worried about was their family, friends, and territory. Although selfish, these people and their territory were the home they had grown up in. Unable to abandon them, they could only stay cooped up in a single area while taking what scraps they could.

Now there was another alternative: sell their territory to the Neon Star Alliance. Not only could they earn money and ensure the safety of their people, but they could also shed the burden on their backs and soar free into the void!

Although it was quite shameful, earning wealth was not. In the future, once they decided to return, maybe they could buy back their family and loved ones.

---

As the three days of deliberation passed, all kinds of chaotic operations occurred in the Neon Star Domain. A civil war even broke out among the cosmic elites.

Among the mid- and low-level teams, most decided to sell their territory or fully join the Neon Star Alliance. The high-level teams, on the other hand, were much more conservative, selling only about 10-20% of the territory they didn’t need, with some selling over 70%, or like the Perrin Alliance, selling everything.

As the transactions ended and were finalized, a swarm of drones appeared over every planet and star in the territory sold to the Neon Star Alliance.

"Look at the sky, what is that?"

"Falling stars?"

"It might be a battleship?"

"No, it’s too small."

"Could it be that we’re under attack?"

Panicking, every civilian scrambled to search for shelter. Fortunately, as the drones got closer, an announcement rang out, calming everyone down.

"Greetings, we are from the Neon Star Alliance, here to survey the population. Please stay in place and don’t panic."

"The Neon Star Alliance? Is what the big leaders announced earlier true?"

A few days ago, there had been an announcement that they had been sold to the Neon Star Alliance. They had thought it was fake news; who knew it would turn out to be true?

"Neon Star Alliance? Isn’t that the team that Big Brother Hero created?" A little girl muttered to her parents with sparkling eyes of excitement.

Ever since they had been connected to the virtual server a few years earlier, various propaganda about the Neon Star Alliance had begun to spread like a virus across these planets. Whether it was products, entertainment, or services, the name of the Neon Star Alliance had silently taken root in the hearts of the people.

"Yes, yes. It’s the alliance that Big Brother Hero made." The little girl’s parents said.

At this moment, they had already calmed down. They were but weak mortals. Their lives were but the whims of the powerful. Being taken care of by a familiar name was much better than the unknown.

"Great! I wonder what the big brother hero looks like? Can we see him in person?"

"Sure, sure. We’ll see him soon."

---

Soon, a few days later, after the swarm of drones surveyed the planet, a transport ship arrived carrying supplies distributed to each individual.

The main supply was the void medical pod. It was a device that could help the masses endure the teleportation array’s spatial disorientation.

This technology was already available to everyone. However, because the materials to build them were pricey, most low- and mid-level teams had melted theirs back down to be recycled.

Fortunately, the Mechanical Race could mass-produce such low-end technology in a matter of days. Even the mechanical scanner with life-scanning ability was bought from them.

After distributing the void medical pods, the remaining drones announced for everyone to enter them.

Soon, after checking, the sector-level teleportation array recently built at the public trading zone activated, encompassing multiple star systems to be teleported to the center of the Forbidden Zone.

Every second, this was happening, clearing the massive clusters of territory around. For those a little further away, the cosmic team alliances managing them also cooperated by moving their territorial clusters closer to the array.

Watching the place gradually cleared and become devoid of life, the remaining cosmic elites couldn’t help but feel emotional.

Did they do the right thing? Did they make the right decision? What would happen after their people reached the Neon Star Alliance Territory?

While feeling conflicted, a notification sounded, stirring their emotions upside down.

"This money..." From low-level teams receiving hundreds of trillions of Void Source Crystals, to mid-level teams receiving quadrillions, and high-level teams receiving tens to hundreds of quadrillions. Their sad mood from earlier was washed away as they thought of how to spend the money.
