I Can Program My Body?
Chapter 740: The Rise of the Military Outposts
One and a half months later, in the Chaos Origin Pool, Nash virtualized his 412th law.
"Huh~ It’s truly satisfying..."
Not needing to take the trial, he only needed to concentrate on virtualizing each law, taking about 1.5 days at a time.
Having reached the 1,099th floor, he didn’t continue to ascend upward. It wasn’t that he couldn’t, but that he didn’t want to.
So far, the only ones who had completed the 1,100th floor trial and moved on to the higher floors were the supreme leaders of the Major-Level Teams. To stand side by side with them, he was afraid the Neon Star Alliance would be crushed under the pressure.
Thus, for the meantime, he planned to virtualize all the laws and bide his time. Anyway, the trial itself wouldn’t take more than a few seconds to complete.
Once he condensed all the laws, it would only take a few days to catch up to the others.
Suddenly, just as he was about to continue virtualizing another law, a call came from Julius.
"What is it?"
"Supreme Leader, everything is prepared. We’re only waiting for you to open the dark gates."
"Oh? So fast?"
"With all those mother core ships and resources you gave us, even a month is long."
"Haha, good. I’ll come now."
Opening another 10 dark gates, they would have a cumulative total of 29 dark gates. Once fully activated, they could earn 2,900 units of Merit Source each day.
Of course, compared to top-level teams who already had 30-50, they were lagging behind. As for the Major-Level Teams, they were already in the triple digits.
Unless he did something drastic or game-changing, it would be difficult to catch up.
---
Arriving at the Neon Star Domain, Nash began to tour each military outpost with Julius.
"How many of these military outposts have you built?"
"We’ve built about a thousand military outposts around the Neon Star Domain, mainly concentrated around the newly built dark gates."
"That many?"
Although it was merely a military outpost, its firepower wasn’t lacking compared to any of the public trading zones. Whether in offense or defense, because they didn’t need to worry about livability, they were even stronger.
"It’s because of those mother core ships. They truly are the heart of our industrial expansion." Julius muttered with a sigh.
Using the mother core ships, they could arm a military outpost with defensive and offensive weapons in a mere ten days. Coupled with the help of other foreign cosmic teams, they managed to assemble about a thousand military outposts in just a month and a half.
"Amazing, I’ll try to see if I can buy more mother core ships from the other top-level teams."
Although they could also produce them, it took over 3 years, all while occupying the production capacity of a tier 8 mother core ship.
If he could buy them, even at a premium, he would buy as many as possible.
"How long do you think it will take to control the area around here and build another batch of dark gates?"
"We should be able to control the flow of dark beasts in a year."
Building the dark gates took 6 months, while controlling their danger would take 1 year. A one-and-a-half-year cycle was already comparable to top-level teams opening 10-15 dark gates.
As for the Major-Level Teams, they only needed a one-year cycle even after opening 30-50 gates simultaneously. Once they reached 100 dark gates under simultaneous control, they would begin opening a Dimensional Scale Dark Gate.
"However, this would consume massive energy. We’d also have to offer greater rewards to those cosmic elites than before."
"It’s not a problem. When have we ever worried about Void Source Crystals?"
The Neon Star Alliance now had a production capacity of 100 billion Dark Energy Purification Devices each month. If they sold everything, they could earn up to 1 sextillion every month. Compared to their energy consumption, it was nothing.
"You did tell me to save up Void Source Crystals. So, I couldn’t help but be cautious."
"No worries. We can just sell more when we’re out of money."
Although Void Source Crystals couldn’t be used to buy higher-quality items, they were still the main source of energy in this wild void area. Naturally, the more they had, the better.
After exploring each military outpost and checking for gaps, Nash headed to the dozen dark gates and opened them with his key of authority.
Like a floodgate opening, all the dark gates around began to draw energy in. As the dark energy density increased, dark beasts began to spawn at a massive rate, going manic with destruction.
---
In one of the military outposts:
Facing the flood of dark beasts coming from all directions, the cosmic elites held no fear, only pure excitement.
Without a territory they needed to protect, it felt as if all the burdens on their backs had been swept away.
More importantly, using the money they’d earned, everyone was armed to the teeth, piloting a tier 8 battleship fleet. They had even sold all their tier 6 and 7 battleships, just so they wouldn’t have any weaknesses. Filled with firepower, they saw the dark beasts as nothing but a walking treasure trove waiting to be picked clean.
Soon, as the dark beasts got closer to the military outpost, before anyone could take action, the defense system in place began to act.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Like mobile artillery, the military outpost didn’t hold back and fired at full power.
If there had still been any planetary systems around, they would have long since been destroyed by the aftershocks. However, since only cosmic elites were present, the sheer scale of firepower only fueled their desire for battle.
"Fight!"
"Rush out! We must earn the qualification for the coming expedition!"
In the coming expedition, Nash also planned to take a few high-level, mid-level, and even low-level teams. As long as they passed the assessment and killed enough targets according to their size, they would be able to join.
With greater profit and glory on the line, everyone was full of bloodlust. Controlling each battleship, they poured out their energy as if inexhaustible, firing one after another, causing a massacre across the tide of dark beasts.
"Don’t rest even for a minute! Prove that our decision before was for a better future!"
"Fight!"
"Fight!"
"Fight!"
