Chapter 20 - 19: Superpower Awakened, Shadow Lock Changes Color!
Chapter 20: Chapter 19: Superpower Awakened, Shadow Lock Changes Color!
Twenty or so minutes later, the plane landed.
Liu Zimo also awoke from his brief Meditation.
Opening his eyes, he reached up to unbuckle his seatbelt and was about to stand up when he suddenly felt that something wasn’t quite right in front of him.
SWISH!
Liu Zimo abruptly turned his head to look at Gu Xintong, who was sitting to his left.
A faint green light had somehow appeared above the other man’s head. Compared to the passengers around them, who all had white Shadow Locks, it was incredibly prominent and eye-catching.
"What’s going on?
"Why did the Shadow Lock on his head suddenly turn green?!"
Liu Zimo was astonished. This was the first time he had encountered such a situation.
Could the color of a Shadow Lock actually upgrade and change, turning from white to green?
What caused this?
Previously, he had thought that the color of these Shadow Locks, much like a person’s Martial Arts Talent and cultivation potential, was predestined at birth and wouldn’t easily change.
This was a rough deduction he had made based on the three good brothers he had already locked onto.
Especially Lou Yuchen.
He had no money, no power, no skills, and no martial strength. He was just the most ordinary of wage earners.
Yet, the Shadow Lock above his head was the most dazzling purple. When they first met, it had nearly blinded Liu Zimo.
And as for Jiang Tianxiong? He was a director of a top financial group in Sanyuan City, worth over ten billion. Pretty impressive, right?
But the Shadow Lock above his head was only gold. Its brilliance was far inferior to that of a nobody like Lou Yuchen—it was a difference like night and day.
As for Liu Siqi, that went without saying.
A department director at the city’s central hospital and a genius doctor in the surgical field. Although he had some character flaws, his medical skills were second to none in all of Sanyuan City.
Yet the Shadow Lock above his head was merely green, only slightly brighter than a white one!
Three people with vastly different statuses and positions had entirely different Shadow Lock colors, with massive disparities between them.
Thinking of the achievements and influence these three would have in the future Post-Apocalypse, Liu Zimo naturally linked the colors of their Shadow Locks to their respective natural talents and growth potentials.
In this world, geniuses were, after all, in the minority.
Therefore, most of the people he had seen in both Sanyuan and Luozhou were merely ordinary people with white Shadow Locks, holding no appeal to him whatsoever.
This had once led him to believe that the color of the Shadow Lock above everyone’s head was innately determined and rarely changed.
But now, the change in the color of the Shadow Lock above Gu Xintong’s head directly shattered Liu Zimo’s previous deductions and understanding.
It turned out that the color of a Shadow Lock was not immutable. Under certain unknown conditions, it actually had the possibility of upgrading and changing color!
"But what exactly is unusual about Gu that allowed him to undergo such an extraordinary change in just half an hour?"
Liu Zimo was curious, unconsciously beginning to scrutinize and study Gu Xintong.
Soon, Liu Zimo discovered that the Qi and Blood Power within the man’s body was more than twice as strong as when he had first boarded the plane.
It seemed that during this half-hour on the plane, he had made a breakthrough while cultivating the Guiding Breathing Method, increasing his physical fitness to the point where he had already touched the threshold of the Body Refining Realm.
At this rate of cultivation, he had every hope of establishing his Martial Arts Foundation before the Demon Calamity erupted, advancing to become a true Martial Artist.
From this perspective, Gu Xintong could be considered to have some talent.
At the very least, he was leaps and bounds better than the three deadwoods in Liu Zimo’s family—his father, his younger uncle, and his younger brother.
"Could it be that the change in a Shadow Lock’s color isn’t just related to a person’s Martial Arts Talent and inherent potential, but also has a direct correlation with the progress of their martial cultivation?"
Liu Zimo made this guess, but at the same time, he felt it didn’t quite make sense.
Previously, when he bound Liu Siqi, Jiang Tianxiong, and Lou Yuchen, none of the three had the slightest martial foundation.
Moreover, the Gu Xintong before him had only just grasped the basics of the Breathing Technique and wasn’t even in the Body Refining Realm yet. He was still a long way off from stepping into the Martial Dao and becoming a true Martial Artist.
If such a minor breakthrough could turn the Shadow Lock above his head from white to green, wouldn’t its color become even more dazzling in the future when he stepped into the Martial Dao, or even broke through to the Copper Skin, Iron Bone, and eventually the Golden Body Realm?
"Liu, what’s wrong? Why are you suddenly looking at me like that?" Gu Xintong seemed to have noticed Liu Zimo’s gaze and asked in surprise.
Liu Zimo retracted his gaze and chuckled. "It’s nothing. I just feel like you’ve become a bit different, Gu."
"Oh?" Gu Xintong’s expression changed slightly, and he hurriedly gave a vague response. "How could I be any different? I just took a nap and feel a bit more refreshed, that’s all.
"If you don’t believe me, look at my eyes. Aren’t they brighter than before I slept?"
Saying this, Gu Xintong raised a finger and pointed at his own eyes. When Liu Zimo looked up to meet his gaze, Gu Xintong’s pupils abruptly contracted. A faint pulse of Spiritual Power emanated from them, shooting straight toward Liu Zimo’s eyes.
"After you get off the plane, you will forget everything that happened on board. You have never seen me, much less noticed anything unusual about me!"
After saying this, Gu Xintong finally withdrew his gaze. He glanced at the dazed Liu Zimo before hurriedly grabbing his luggage and heading toward the cabin door.
He didn’t notice that the moment he stepped out the door, the previously motionless and dazed Liu Zimo suddenly broke into a slight smirk.
"Interesting!
"I was wondering how the Shadow Lock on his head could suddenly change color. It turns out it wasn’t because he grasped the Guiding Breathing Method early, but because he suddenly awakened a Superpower under the stimulation of Spiritual Energy!
"A Spirit Charm type Superpower isn’t considered powerful, but it’s incredibly effective for hypnosis or interrogation!
"It’s a good thing I have a resilient Martial Dao Will and cultivate the Awakening God Technique, which is specifically used to counter Illusion Techniques. Otherwise, with one careless move, I really might have fallen for his trick."
Liu Zimo muttered softly to himself, feeling somewhat surprised.
He hadn’t expected the awakening of a Superpower to be so bizarre, occurring without the slightest sound or prior sign.
Even though he had been sitting right next to Gu Xintong the entire time, he hadn’t detected a single abnormality from him.
If Gu Xintong hadn’t had a guilty conscience and suddenly used his Charming Superpower on him, Liu Zimo probably still wouldn’t have noticed anything even now.
Fortunately, Gu Xintong was inherently good-natured and hadn’t been ruthless. Otherwise, Liu Zimo really feared he wouldn’t have been able to control himself and would have crippled the man with a single punch.
Regardless, the mystery was finally solved.
Liu Zimo stopped dwelling on it. He stood up, smoothed out his clothes, and then followed out of the cabin.
As soon as he stepped out the door, Liu Zimo habitually swept his gaze over the crowded mass of people below the plane.
Suddenly, amidst the crowd, he saw a cluster of fire-like red light flickering wildly. It was so vividly dazzling and incredibly eye-catching!
Liu Zimo’s attention was instantly and completely captivated by it.
Following white, green, yellow, and purple, he had finally discovered a Shadow Lock in an entirely new color!
The crimson light blazed like fire, fierce and blinding. Its intensity was inferior to purple but stronger than yellow—its tier definitely ranked above the Yellow Level!
Drawn by this crimson light, a burning thirst rose in Liu Zimo’s heart, and he couldn’t help but walk briskly toward the red glow.
