Chapter 33: Chapter 31: Rise of a Prodigy, Transformation of the Mind!
Shangjing City.
The staff dormitory area at the aviation port.
Huddled under the dormitory bed and trembling as she held her best friend, Lin Hongying, Yang Sisi suddenly felt a current of heat continuously surge into her body with every breath. It rapidly spread throughout her entire being, nourishing and warming her.
Instinctively, she thought of the Guiding Breathing Method she had been trying to practice over the past two days. She consciously adjusted the rhythm of her breaths to match the technique.
Soon, as her breathing rhythm changed, this heat current was gradually intercepted and refined. Most of it successfully integrated into her flesh, blood, and internal organs.
WHOOSH!
It felt incredible. An ultimate sense of soothing comfort welled up from the very depths of her body.
Unable to hold back, Yang Sisi took deep gulps of air, accelerating the circulation rhythm of the Breathing Technique to draw more of that heat into her body.
In just a few minutes, a unique aura of energy was born within the Dantian in her lower abdomen.
This energy circulated methodically through her body in time with her breathing. With every lap it completed, it grew a fraction stronger, bringing Yang Sisi a boundless sense of comfort and strength.
As her Inner Breath continuously strengthened and her Qi Blood constantly surged, Yang Sisi involuntarily straightened her posture. She was no longer cowering and frightened out of her wits as she had been just moments before.
At this moment, she felt unprecedentedly robust and possessed Infinite Strength. She felt as though she could punch a cow to death with a single blow.
This swelling sense of power fortified her mind, making her resilient. No longer lost in fear, when she heard the roars of the beasts outside again, she actually felt a burning eagerness to rush out and fight them.
"Sisi! What’s wrong with you? Your whole body is glowing!" her best friend’s incredulous gasp rang in her ears.
She wondered what Lin Hongying meant by that—how could she possibly be glowing? Hearing this, Yang Sisi slowly opened her eyes. To her surprise, a faint yellow light was genuinely emitting from the surface of her hands, neck, and even her entire face.
The light wasn’t intense; it merely clung to the skin on the surface of her body, its brightness not even as strong as a firefly’s glow. Yet, in this pitch-black night, such a radiance appeared dazzlingly unique and distinct.
"I really am glowing!" Yang Sisi said. "But I don’t feel uncomfortable at all. Instead, I’m getting more and more powerful! Have I become a Superman?"
She didn’t show the same panic as Lin Hongying. The brimming sense of power within her filled her with an unprecedented confidence. She didn’t think the changes to her body were a bad thing. On the contrary, in the chaotic and perilous situation before them, this transformation might just be the greatest guarantee to see them through the danger.
"The Breathing Technique!" Yang Sisi reminded her best friend. "Hongying, try the Guiding Breathing Method!
"Since that Apocalypse Self-Rescue Guide is real, the Guiding Breathing Method attached to the end of it definitely isn’t as simple as it looks on the surface!
"The changes happening to my body right now are most likely because I just tried practicing the Guiding Breathing Method. Give it a try now—maybe you’ll start glowing and turn into a Superman just like me!"
The world mutated, a sudden catastrophe erupted, and Demon Beasts descended. Everything happening before their eyes proved the validity of the Apocalypse Self-Rescue Guide that had been widely circulated online.
Unfortunately, everyone at the time had only focused on the Guiding Breathing Method and hadn’t paid much attention to the detailed introductions in the Self-Help Guide. They had even continuously mocked the original poster for fear-mongering.
Well, look at them now. The Post-Apocalypse was truly here! The power grid was paralyzed, cell phones were dead, and all electronic devices were completely unusable. Even if they wanted to look back at that Self-Help Guide one more time, it was impossible.
"Are you serious?" Lin Hongying muttered, her face full of skepticism. "I was trying to practice the Guiding Breathing Method just now, too. But aside from my body getting a little warmer and feeling a bit more energetic, I didn’t start glowing at all."
There was no denying that the Guiding Breathing Method was extremely useful, perhaps even miraculous. Especially now, with every Circulation the Breathing Technique completed, Lin Hongying’s physical strength increased by a large margin. It vitalized her mind, making her feel as if she were completely immune to fatigue. Yet, no matter how much she practiced, she was nowhere near the level of glowing like Yang Sisi.
ROAR!
At that moment, more and more beastly roars echoed from all directions, as if the entire dormitory building had been surrounded by an endless horde of Demon Beasts.
"Help! Someone save me!"
"I don’t want to die! I really don’t want to die! If anyone can save me, I’ll give them all my savings!!"
"AHHH!"
Hearing the terrified screams of a colleague coming from the room next door, both Yang Sisi and Lin Hongying’s expressions instantly changed.
SWISH!
Yang Sisi moved, scrambling out from under the bed. She was just about to open the door and rush next door to save her, but Lin Hongying reached out and grabbed her.
"Sisi, don’t be stupid! It’s full of monsters out there. Aren’t you just courting death by going out now?" Lin Hongying said urgently. "That woman next door used to bully you all the time. You don’t need to risk your life for her!"
Hongying thought Sisi was being a foolish girl. Just because her body could glow didn’t mean she had truly become a Superman, so why was she trying to play the hero right now? If she went out, she might not even manage to save anyone and could just end up throwing her own life away! More importantly, if Sisi opened the door, a monster might take the opportunity to break in, and Hongying would definitely become collateral damage!
"Hongying, we can’t hide in here forever!" Yang Sisi looked back at her, her gaze firm. "There’s absolutely no food in the dorm, not even water. We won’t survive here for more than a few days.
"Rather than hiding here waiting for death, we might as well go out and fight while we still have plenty of stamina!
"If you’re scared, just wait for me here. I’ll go out to check the situation and come back!"
With that, Yang Sisi directly shook off Lin Hongying’s grip. She strode quickly to the door and, without a moment’s hesitation, opened it and rushed out.
They always say that great skill makes one bold. After feeling like she had turned into a "Superman," Yang Sisi’s courage and mindset had also unknowingly undergone an earth-shattering transformation.
This was the hyperactive manifestation of Martial Dao Qi Blood being completely stimulated. Her Qi Blood surged with absolute fearlessness, making her prefer to act according to her true nature! This was especially true for novices like Yang Sisi, who were coming into contact with the Martial Dao for the first time and experiencing a rapid enhancement in their Martial Arts Cultivation. It made it incredibly difficult for her to control the surging emotions within her heart.
Therefore, in the Post-Apocalypse, while there might be some atrociously wicked, unrestrained evil Martial Artists, there were very few cowardly Martial Artists who would retreat from battle out of a clinging fear of death.
Similar scenes were unfolding in major cities all across the globe. The existence of the Guiding Breathing Method allowed Ordinary people, who otherwise would have never had the chance to touch the Martial Dao, to explosively rise and shine amidst this unprecedented Post-Apocalyptic disaster.
This was especially true for Martial Dao prodigies with inherently heaven-defying aptitudes like Yang Sisi and Liu Yuchen. Washed by the baptism of Spiritual Energy, both their bodies and minds underwent monumental, earth-shattering changes in an incredibly short Time.
Given the massive global population base, almost every city would see the emergence of one or even several such Martial Dao prodigies—individuals whose strength advanced by leaps and bounds, who feared no danger, and who were willing to step up at the most crucial moments.
It was precisely because of the appearance of these individuals that their respective cities didn’t completely sink into a dead silence under the onslaught of the Demon Calamity, preventing the loss of all hope for survival.
