Chapter 40: Chapter 38: A One-in-Ten-Thousand Martial Dao Prodigy!

Yang Sisi was absolutely dumbfounded!

What was she seeing? Someone was actually flying?!

Was this a dream or something? How could anyone in the world descend from the sky as lightly as a bird without using any equipment?

And this person looked so familiar! He... wasn’t he that "pervert" who kept staring at her at the airport at noon? Since when did he become so powerful?!

Yang Sisi’s mind went completely blank.

Was he Superman?

An angel?

Or a Savior?

For a moment, she genuinely felt like she was dreaming. The terrifying ordeal of the past hour seemed like nothing more than an illusory nightmare. However, the searing pain in her back and arms, coupled with the twitching Demon Beast corpses on the ground, served as a constant reminder that all of this was real! The Post-Apocalypse had erupted, the Demon Calamity had descended, and the world before her had completely changed!

She was not dreaming!

"Thank you! Thank you for saving me!"

After recovering her wits, Yang Sisi hastily thanked Liu Zimo. Then, her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily.

After fighting for over half an hour and losing a significant amount of blood from her injuries, she was truly exhausted and unimaginably weak. If he had acted even a second later, Yang Sisi knew she would have been torn apart by those beasts, suffering the exact same fate as her colleagues.

Because of this, she was endlessly grateful to this savior who had suddenly dropped from the sky.

Any negative impressions she previously had of Liu Zimo vanished entirely. Her guard dropped even further when she noticed he was actually carrying a small child in his arms.

How bad could a man who traveled with a child really be? Furthermore, the child didn’t even look like his own; in all likelihood, he had also rescued the kid from the jaws of a Demon Beast!

He really was a goodhearted person. It seemed she had completely misunderstood him earlier.

"Are you the only one left here?" Liu Zimo asked softly as he surveyed the surroundings. "Where is your friend, Miss Lin Hongying? Weren’t you two together?"

Huh?

Yang Sisi looked up at Liu Zimo in surprise. How did this man know her best friend? Hongying had never mentioned such a person to her before.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Liu Zimo from Luozhou City!" Seeing the confusion in Yang Sisi’s eyes, Liu Zimo took the opportunity to introduce himself.

Sure enough, upon hearing the name Luozhou and Liu Zimo, Yang Sisi’s expression noticeably shifted. "You’re the incredibly generous Boss Liu that Hongying was talking about?!" she blurted out.

Clearly, Lin Hongying had already spoken to her about jumping ship and moving to Luozhou. In fact, if the Demon Calamity hadn’t suddenly struck, she and Lin Hongying might already be on a flight to Luozhou City right now.

A monthly salary of thirty thousand, full benefits, room and board covered, and a year-end bonus of no less than three months’ salary. More importantly, the moment they signed the contract, they would immediately receive a relocation fee of three hundred thousand—with absolutely no strings attached!

With such dream-like perks for a job perfectly matching their accounting majors, Yang Sisi had no reason to refuse. Thus, if it weren’t for the sudden disaster, the Liu Zimo standing before her would very likely already be her and Lin Hongying’s new boss.

That was, of course, assuming Liu Zimo wasn’t a scammer. After all, before actually signing the contract and receiving the relocation fee, Yang Sisi had always harbored doubts. She couldn’t easily believe that such a golden opportunity would just fall into their laps.

"Yes, that’s me," Liu Zimo nodded frankly. "If Miss Yang is willing, my previous promises are still valid!

"I can guarantee the safety of you and Miss Lin, and I am willing to pay a substantial salary to hire you to work for me!

"The only condition is that you are still willing to return to Luozhou with me!"

This was the very reason Liu Zimo had purposely taken a detour to the airport. He still hadn’t given up on his plan to poach Yang Sisi, a future Martial Arts Grandmaster, and bring her to Luozhou.

"Return to Luozhou?" Yang Sisi shook her head. "Mr. Liu, even if I wanted to go, it’s impossible now!

"Can’t you see? The world is crawling with Demon Beasts. The wilderness is definitely much more dangerous than the city!

"Furthermore, all ground transportation and navigation equipment have completely shut down and are rendered useless. Trying to travel to Luozhou, which is nearly a thousand kilometers away, is entirely out of the question in the short term!"

Even though Liu Zimo could fly, Yang Sisi didn’t think he could safely bypass millions of Demon Beasts and traverse a thousand kilometers to return to Luozhou. And even if Liu Zimo could, she certainly couldn’t. In such a chaotic and dangerous situation, she couldn’t—and wouldn’t dare—follow a stranger out of the city to take such a massive risk.

"I understand. It seems Miss Yang still doesn’t quite trust me!" Liu Zimo smiled. "But you’re right; one can never be too careful. There’s nothing wrong with being cautious in a chaotic world."

Liu Zimo chuckled softly and shook his head, offering no further explanation. Instead, he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the identification credentials he had just received from the Military Staff Department.

"Allow me to reintroduce myself.

"Great Xia Country, Military Staff Department, Special Martial Arts Consultant, Liu Zimo!

"This is my ID badge. If Miss Yang has any doubts, you can inspect it yourself!"

With that, Liu Zimo straightened his posture and spoke to Yang Sisi in a loud, incredibly solemn, and serious voice: "Now, in my capacity as a Special Martial Arts Consultant for the Military Staff Department, I formally invite Miss Yang Sisi to join my Martial Dao squad. We will be heading to Luozhou City, Dongyang Province, to execute city defense missions. I wonder if Miss Yang is willing?"

Using a big name to put on a grand show.

Issuing the invitation under the name of the Military Staff Department instantly elevated the prestige of the offer, didn’t it? Besides, the ID badge in his hand was completely genuine, personally issued by the General Staff of the Military Staff Department, so he wasn’t exactly spinning a web of lies.

As a Martial Arts Consultant for the Military Staff Department, Liu Zimo naturally possessed the authority to conscript a few suitable subordinates to assist him in his duties. This was perfectly reasonable.

"You’re actually from the Military Staff Department?!" Yang Sisi exclaimed, standing up from the ground in shock. She glanced at the open ID badge in Liu Zimo’s hand. The steel seal and the corresponding job description matched his words exactly.

However, given Yang Sisi’s limited experience, she couldn’t discern the authenticity of the badge. Still, recalling Liu Zimo’s bizarre Body Technique when he descended from the sky and the mysterious methods he used to slay the Demon Beasts, Yang Sisi instinctively chose to believe him.

Perhaps only a Martial Artist of such extreme power was qualified to become a Martial Arts Consultant for the Military Staff Department, right?

"So, when Advisor Liu invited Hongying and me to work in Luozhou earlier, was that actually a quota from the Military Staff Department?"

Seeing Liu Zimo nod, everything clicked into place for Yang Sisi. No wonder he could offer such a lucrative salary—they were actually being recruited into a legendary special department!

"But Hongying and I are just Ordinary people. Even if we go to Luozhou, what could we possibly do?" Yang Sisi asked again, deeply perplexed.

It wasn’t that she was belittling herself. She and Lin Hongying were simply Ordinary college graduates from standard universities. They couldn’t be considered special talents in any regard. What qualifications did they possess, or rather, on what grounds had they been chosen by Liu Zimo?

"To be precise, the person I truly want to recruit is you!" Liu Zimo said bluntly. "As for Miss Lin Hongying, she is merely an assistant hired along the way to support you."

"Me?" Yang Sisi pointed at her own small nose, finding it increasingly unbelievable.

Why? She didn’t think there was anything special about herself.

"Yes, you!" Liu Zimo said firmly. "From the first moment I saw you, I could tell that you possessed exceptional bone structure. You are a one-in-a-million Martial Arts Talent, which is why I decided to recruit you!

"Regarding this point, I imagine you must have already experienced it firsthand by now!

"Successfully breaking through to the Copper Skin realm—where blades and swords can hardly harm you—in such a short period of Time is not something just anyone can easily achieve!"

Yang Sisi froze for a moment.

Was that how it was?

So when Advisor Liu kept staring at her earlier, he wasn’t thinking of any perverted things, but rather, he had seen her extraordinary Martial Arts Talent and wanted to recruit her?

She recalled how her body had suddenly started glowing not long ago, and how her physical strength had continuously surged. During her standoff with those Demon Beasts, she had even managed to send a massive creature—several times her size—flying over a dozen meters away with a single punch...

Furthermore, she had clearly suffered such severe injuries, yet after resting for only a short while, the wounds on her back and arms were already closing on their own! Her depleted stamina and mental state were also rapidly recovering!

All of this seemed to scream that her body was out of the ordinary.

"Could it be that I really am a one-in-a-million Martial Arts Talent, just as Advisor Liu said?" she wondered.
