Chapter 161: Chapter 112: The Black Bear Spirit Pulled Out a QR Code

She wasn’t a child anymore. She couldn’t possibly give Zhao Jie the cold shoulder.

They were all adults. What was the point of arguing about who knew someone first?

"Fine! Don’t you regret this!" Chu Jiajia was obviously growing more upset. With that, she turned and walked away.

The scene undoubtedly left both Wu Ling and Zhao Jie feeling very awkward.

This was especially true for Zhao Jie. It was a rare occasion for her to have her best friend and her boyfriend out together, so this was truly embarrassing.

"Jie, Wu Ling, want some fruit? The fruit here at Zhang Lin’s farm is delicious." Zhang Zhao hurriedly changed the subject, trying to prevent the incident from ruining the rest of their visit.

He worked at a police station, so he was used to this sort of thing. It was just a falling out between best friends, nothing more.

In the cases they handled, fallouts between friends were a dime a dozen, and they happened for every reason imaginable.

He had even seen a pair of best friends get into a fight that ended up at the police station, arguing over who should have been the first to take a sip from a shared dollop of cream.

Zhao Jie and Wu Ling were in no mood for fruit.

Just then, they overheard a discussion that caught their attention.

"The farm posted a video! The Black Bear Spirit is up and has opened his shop. Let’s go check it out!"

"I think it’s behind the main office. Is that the main office over there?"

This was exactly what Zhao Jie had come for. She immediately composed herself and said, "Let’s go take a look too!"

The three of them immediately followed the signs toward the main office.

Once they reached the main office, they saw a new sign pointing the way to the Black Bear Spirit’s fruit stand.

"This is it," Zhao Jie said.

The three of them headed in and found that a crowd of tourists had already gathered. It seemed the amusing sight of the Black Bear Spirit wearing a Kasaya and leading the White Dragon Horse had drawn a lot of people.

When they got to the fruit stand, they saw it was laden with pre-bagged portions of fruit. A crowd had formed, and tourists were looking at the cartoons posted around the stand, talking amongst themselves.

"Li Yuan Farm is freaking hilarious! These drawings are great!"

"Haha, this picture actually makes it all make sense!"

"..."

Zhang Zhao, Zhao Jie, and Wu Ling squeezed closer to get a better look at the cartoons.

In the drawing, the Black Bear Spirit was clutching a Kasaya in one hand and leading the White Dragon Horse with the other, desperately fleeing on a pair of Wind-Fire Wheels. Chasing furiously behind him were Sun Wukong, Pigsy, and Sha Wujing, joined by Nezha, all with their weapons raised. Lagging far behind them was the Tang Monk.

A speech bubble rose from the Tang Monk’s head: "Give me back my Kasaya! Give me back my White Dragon Horse!"

The cartoon was vividly drawn and full of humor. It also explained where the black bear’s Kasaya and white horse had come from: they were stolen from the Tang Monk.

However, everyone quickly noticed a problem. The fruit stand was set up, but the bear was nowhere to be seen.

’No bear? You just stick up some cartoons and call this the Black Bear Spirit fruit stand?’

"Isn’t this just like all those other tourist traps that pull similar stunts, treating visitors like idiots?"

Many of the tourists started to complain.

"Where’s the bear? I came to see the Black Bear Spirit, not a fruit stand."

"I came all the way here early in the morning just to see a fruit stand and some cartoons?"

"Li Yuan Farm, get your act together! I had a good impression of you, don’t blow it!"

"Yeah, please don’t blow it!"

"..."

Just as the tourists were starting to get rowdy, a theme song suddenly blasted from the fruit stand. For the 90s kids in the crowd, it was like a core memory being unlocked. The music sounded like the Black Bear Spirit’s theme from the classic *Journey to the West* TV series.

Just then, a playful, taunting voice rang out:

"Well, well, if it isn’t the ’Horse Groom’! Hahaha! Just a puny little official who tends the Jade Emperor’s stables!"

"I’m the one who took the Kasaya! The real question is, are you skilled enough to take it back?"

With that dialogue, there was no doubt. It was the Black Bear Spirit’s taunt to Sun Wukong from the classic *Journey to the West* television series.

At that exact moment, from a door behind the fruit stand, two flamboyantly dressed "demonesses" ran out. Despite their costumes, they were actually quite cute.

These two ’demonesses’ were none other than the zookeepers Yuan Bingbing and Lin Lele in cosplay. The two girls clearly had a flair for the dramatic. They immediately took their positions by the door and shouted, "All hail King Heifeng! Congratulations to King Heifeng on the grand opening of his fruit stand!"

As the two girls shouted, all eyes were drawn to the doorway. A small black bear, draped in a Kasaya, emerged from behind the door on rollerblades. It held the reins of a white pony in one hand and a large sign in the other.

It was even wearing a hat on its head—one that looked suspiciously like the Tang Monk’s.

In an instant, every tourist whipped out their phone and started recording, their faces alight with excitement.

When they first saw the video, they thought it must have been a fluke. How could a black bear possibly be that good at rollerblading?

But now, watching it push off with its legs and glide around so effortlessly, it looked impossibly agile and relaxed.

Seeing this, many tourists couldn’t help but comment in amazement:

"This bear is incredible! I don’t think I can even rollerblade that well!"

"This reminds me of how I could never get the hang of rollerblading, and here’s a bear that’s mastered it."

"Are you kidding? Those are the Wind-Fire Wheels. You don’t need to *learn* how to use those."

"..."

Just then, some tourists’ attention was drawn to the sign the bear was holding. There was writing on it.

Everyone was very curious about what was written on it.

The Little Black Bear, still draped in the Kasaya and leading the White Dragon Horse, glided to a stop before the crowd and planted the sign down for everyone to see.

Now, the tourists could see the words written on the sign:

"I, the Black Bear Spirit, was gravely injured fighting Sun Wukong and his brothers while stealing the Kasaya and the White Dragon Horse. Now, I can’t assume my true form, so I’ve come to Li Yuan Farm to sell fruit and raise money for some Healing Medicine. I hope all you kind tourists will buy some fruit to help me out. Once I’ve recovered and can transform again, I will be sure to repay your kindness!"

One of the tourists read the sign’s message aloud, causing many people to burst out laughing.

"This is hilarious!" Zhao Jie laughed so hard she was practically cramping up.

It couldn’t be helped. The message on the sign might not have been much on its own, but combined with the sight of a black bear in a Kasaya leading a pony, it was impossible not to laugh.

Wu Ling chimed in, "This really fleshes out the story of the Black Bear Spirit stealing the Kasaya."

While the tourists were roaring with laughter and frantically recording with their phones, the Little Black Bear drew closer. It then pulled a small cord on its shoulder, and a little sign popped up from its hat. It read: "Do you believe I’m the Black Bear Spirit?"

This sent the tourists into another fit of wild laughter.

"A bear can be this smart?" Zhang Zhao couldn’t help his astonishment.

Zhao Jie, completely charmed, stepped forward and asked, "It says the Black Bear Spirit is selling fruit, but how is it going to do that?"

This piqued the curiosity of the other tourists as well.

Indeed. If the Black Bear Spirit needed to sell fruit to raise money for Healing Medicine, how exactly would it go about doing that?

Yuan Bingbing and Lin Lele stepped forward as well.

Yuan Bingbing immediately made an announcement. "Esteemed tourists, I am Little Demon Bingbing, a servant under King Heifeng. This is King Heifeng’s exclusive fruit sale! Each bag of fruit is a uniform price of 10 yuan. You can take one for yourself, and King Heifeng will collect the payment from you!"

Lin Lele chimed in, "That’s right! King Heifeng is a monarch of his word. And for any dishonest tourists... well, the King wouldn’t mind having a hearty meal!"

This made the tourists even more curious.

They were making it sound so incredible. Could this bear really know how to collect money?

Just how smart would it have to be?

Everyone remained skeptical.

"I want to buy some fruit!" Zhao Jie was fascinated by how the Black Bear Spirit would collect the money, so she immediately raised her hand and called out.

At the same time, she grabbed two bags of fruit from the stand. Just as she was wondering how the Black Bear Spirit was going to get her money, the bear rollerbladed right up to her and did something that left everyone speechless.

It flipped back the Kasaya draped over its body, revealing the other side... which was covered in WeChat payment QR codes!

The Little Black Bear, having revealed the WeChat payment QR codes, then grinned widely at Zhao Jie, flashing its pearly white teeth!
