I Can Strengthen Everything
Chapter 347 - 157: Martial Dao Grand Event
Chapter 347: Chapter 157: Martial Dao Grand Event
Looking at Fang Xing, the smile on Hong Miaojin’s face grew even brighter.
She was the one who had requested Fang Xing’s transfer.
All the way from Jiang Province to Qing Province in the Southern Border.
In a way, she had witnessed Fang Xing’s growth firsthand.
The faster he improved, the better the news was for her.
After all, a capable subordinate like him was a rare find, something you couldn’t just go out and look for.
Although her decision to promote Fang Xing to the temporary position of Demon Suppression Envoy had faced a great deal of scrutiny...
...looking at it now, the results were excellent.
At the very least, he hadn’t disappointed her.
"We haven’t seen each other in a few months, and your improvement has been quite rapid."
"I had a bit of luck with Creation, which allowed me to improve," Fang Xing replied.
Hong Miaojin looked at him. "You handled the situation in South County well this time. You’ve cleaned up an entire county and taken the Demon Alliance down a peg."
Hearing this, Fang Xing looked at her. "Commander, the situation elsewhere doesn’t seem to be very good."
Hong Miaojin’s expression was calm. "That’s all to be expected. It’s just the Demon Alliance’s counterattack. It was bound to happen sooner or later."
Fang Xing nodded.
With a powerful backer like Hong Miaojin in charge, he wasn’t particularly worried.
Her disposition and temperament both suited him.
She was decisive and never wishy-washy.
Fang Xing knew full well that without Hong Miaojin running the show, he wouldn’t be able to act so freely.
He did his utmost to slay Demons and Monsters, while Hong Miaojin absorbed the pressure from the Demon Alliance’s leadership.
It wasn’t about who made whom successful; it was simply a tacit understanding between them.
With any other Commander, things might not have been so easy.
After all, the support Hong Miaojin provided was truly one of a kind.
Her status and background were enough to quell any opposition.
Other Commanders couldn’t have managed it so easily.
"Commander, what’s our next move?" Fang Xing asked, looking at Hong Miaojin.
"You’re a restless one, aren’t you? You just got back and you’re already planning your next step?" Hong Miaojin shot him a look.
Fang Xing smiled. "As long as Demons and Monsters remain, this subordinate cannot be at ease."
"..."
"Take a break for a while. The recent situation has more or less achieved the expected results. There’s no need to be so hasty."
Hong Miaojin said.
Upon hearing this, Fang Xing nodded.
He understood as well. Wiping out all the Demons and Monsters in one go was fundamentally impossible.
At least for now, while the various factions clashed, they still adhered to certain rules.
If someone were to really flip the table, the conflict wouldn’t be confined to a single province; the entire Southern Border would erupt.
By comparison, the combined power of the Demon Alliance, the Evil Cults, and the Demon Sects in the Southern Border was more terrifying than that of the Court.
The Nine Provinces of the South Border.
At the very top, the Court had only nine Celestial Martial Saints.
Yet the Demon Alliance alone possessed strength that surpassed the top echelons of the Court’s departments.
The Demon Alliance’s Ten Great Demon Saints were just the ones known to the public.
There were surely other hidden Demon Saints, but no one knew how many.
While the Ten Great Demon Saints were powerful enough to make the Court wary, their might alone wasn’t enough to force the Court to retreat.
The true trouble would be if all their hidden powers united.
Moreover, the Evil Cults and Demon Sects were not to be trifled with.
While they couldn’t compare to the Demon Alliance, they were still forces that dominated their own territories.
Otherwise, the Court wouldn’t have tolerated their existence for so long.
Besides, there was the external threat of Great Wei.
In a multi-sided game where all parties were evenly matched, it was natural that everyone had to play by certain rules.
Unless one side gained the ability to completely annihilate another.
"So, you’re resting for a few months. What are your plans? Just Cultivation?" Hong Miaojin asked, looking at him suddenly.
Fang Xing was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly recovered and nodded. "This subordinate doesn’t have much else to do usually. I spend most of my time on my Cultivation."
"In that case, next month, you’ll accompany me somewhere to watch the festivities."
Hong Miaojin said.
Fang Xing: "...?"
’Watch the festivities?’
Hearing Hong Miaojin’s words, Fang Xing stared at her, stunned.
"Commander, what do you mean by that?" Fang Xing asked, confused.
"The Ten Great Sects’ decennial Martial Dao Tournament is coming up. It’s a ranking competition fought between the True Disciples of the Ten Great Upper Sects. A spectacle like this is rare. You’ll accompany me to watch it."
Hong Miaojin explained.
Fang Xing’s heart jolted.
The Martial Dao Tournament!
’A Martial Dao Tournament between the Ten Great Upper Sects, no less.’
’A spectacle like that is truly a rare sight.’
Once every ten years.
It was an extremely rare event.
The True Disciples represented the pinnacle of power among the younger generation of the Ten Great Upper Sects.
"No problem," Fang Xing nodded.
He certainly wouldn’t refuse.
This was also a chance to broaden his horizons.
This grand Martial Dao event would also be an opportunity to get a glimpse into the true strength of the Ten Great Upper Sects.
A rare opportunity indeed!
After chatting for over an hour, Fang Xing left the mansion.
Returning to the Demon Suppression Mansion, everything was as usual.
It was exactly as he had left it.
When he arrived at the main hall, Hong Luan came forward and poured him a cup of hot tea. Gazing at Fang Xing’s face, her heart began to thump wildly.
She had heard a great deal about Fang Xing’s recent exploits.
Counterattacking from a hopeless situation to slay the Eight Great Demon Kings—such a brilliant accomplishment was the stuff of legends.
"Sir, you should be resting for a while now that you’re back, right?" Hong Luan asked, standing by his side and looking at him curiously.
Fang Xing nodded while sipping his tea. "Yes. I’m back for a while this time; I won’t be leaving right away."
"Your Cultivation has also improved significantly. That’s good to see," Fang Xing remarked with a smile after a quick glance.
Hong Luan bowed. "This subordinate’s meager improvement is nothing worth mentioning."
"Has anything of note happened these past few months?" Fang Xing asked.
Hong Luan thought for a moment, then said, "Reporting to you, Sir, everything has been stable. Nothing out of the ordinary has occurred."
Fang Xing nodded and drank his tea in silence.
Hong Luan stood by his side and looked at him. "Sir, you’ve just returned. This subordinate will go prepare a meal so you can relax and eat properly."
