I Carry a Game World With Me
Chapter 304 - 282: Dumbfounded Hu Xin
Chapter 304: Chapter 282: Dumbfounded Hu Xin
After Hu Xin agreed, Lu Feng extended the invitation again. She walked over to the motorcycle and gave it a try.
Once she was on the motorcycle, Hu Xin asked in surprise, "Guard Officer, where did you find such a vintage motorcycle? It looks brand new."
Lu Feng fabricated a story. "Found it in a villa. The owner before the apocalypse must have been a vintage motorcycle enthusiast."
Hu Xin didn’t suspect a thing.
None of that mattered to her.
After studying it for a moment and with Lu Feng’s instruction, she quickly figured out how to operate the motorcycle.
A moment later, Lu Feng sped off on his motorcycle, and Hu Xin started hers to follow.
Once they were clear of the East Suburb Fortress, she voluntarily took the lead to guide him.
The two motorcycles quickly overtook the warriors from Qingfeng Base, speeding ahead until they vanished from sight.
Lin Jiao watched the motorcycles disappear into the distance, then smiled and gave an order, "We’ll regroup here! Rest for half an hour, then we’ll move out."
The order stunned everyone. ’Aren’t we supposed to be eliminating Mutant Beasts?’
Guo Zhen was even more confused. "Conductor Lin, the Boss has already gone ahead. Shouldn’t we be hurrying after him? Why are we resting here?"
Lin Jiao explained, "These are the Boss’s orders!"
Guo Zhen froze, utterly baffled by the situation.
Meanwhile, in the region near the City East Alliance, the Flame Emperor led a dozen or so masters forward, his expression grim.
He had just received a report that one of the City East Alliance’s ability user teams had been killed by the Beastman Race.
Furthermore, a lone survivor from the team was tracking the culprits and sending them real-time location updates.
"Where are they?" the Flame Emperor asked, stopping on the roof of a building.
"Flame Emperor, they’re in the church up ahead," one of the City East Alliance’s ability users replied.
"Move out!" the Flame Emperor barked. He hastily led his men toward the church, and they soon stormed inside.
Inside, a figure was strung up in the middle of the nave—it was the very ability user from the City East Alliance who had been tracking the Beastman Race.
There were other figures in the church as well. From their grotesque faces, it was clear they were of the Beastman Race.
One figure stood out from the rest. His hair was incredibly thick, spiking backward as if statically charged, and it reached all the way to his waist.
More importantly, his left eye wasn’t human; it was the eye of a wild beast.
"You must be the Flame Emperor," the figure said, standing up and locking eyes with him. "You’ve unlocked the second stage of your abilities. Impressive!"
"And you’re the Beast King?" the Flame Emperor shot back, his face just as grim.
He could sense that this man had also unlocked the second stage of his abilities.
Until now, he had been the only person in all of Celestial Sea City to have unlocked the second stage. He never expected another to appear—and for it to be the Beast King of the Beastman Race, no less.
’It has to be the Beast King. If ordinary members of the Beastman Race can unlock their second stage, then they are far too terrifying to imagine.’
The Beast King smiled. "That’s right, it’s me. Since we’ve both unlocked our second stage, I think we should have a chat. Killing you won’t be so easy, after all. So why don’t you just sit back and watch my people annihilate the East Suburb Fortress."
The Flame Emperor’s expression changed at his words. He knew the importance of the East Suburb Fortress.
He understood now. The enemy had deliberately lured him here to prevent him from reinforcing the East Suburb Fortress. They must have deployed a massive force there.
’Damn it.’
’With such a meticulous scheme, the East Suburb Fortress is doomed.’
Now that he knew the Beast King’s true strength, he understood just how terrifying these creatures were. He had underestimated the Beastman Race.
’He wasn’t the only one who had unlocked the second stage.’
The Beast King said smugly, "Flame Emperor, I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now. The bulk of the Beastman Race’s forces are at the East Suburb Fortress. It’s about to fall. After that, your City East Alliance will be facing a food shortage for a very long time. And we Beastmen will... deal with you at our leisure."
"Withdraw!" the Flame Emperor ordered decisively.
But as he tried to lead his men away, the other Beastmen blocked their path, while the Beast King himself stood directly in his way.
"The East Suburb Fortress will fall today," the Beast King said coldly. "And I won’t allow someone who so arrogantly provoked me to continue living."
...
East Suburb!
A mountain hollow.
A pack of Hyenas loitered about, snarling and baring their teeth in boredom.
Old Dog lay hidden in the shadows, waiting for the people from the East Suburb Fortress.
He checked his watch several times, then suddenly stood up. The time he had agreed upon with Hu Xin was almost here.
The people from the East Suburb Fortress were coming.
The atmosphere grew heavy, and a murderous aura seemed to emanate from the surrounding forest.
Meanwhile, on a highway, two motorcycles sped along, one behind the other.
Hu Xin rode in front, leading Lu Feng straight toward the ambush.
But suddenly, the roar of Lu Feng’s motorcycle grew louder. He sped past Hu Xin and veered off in a new direction.
Hu Xin froze, stunned by this move.
He wasn’t heading toward the ambush. He was going off course.
She quickly accelerated to catch up to him.
When she pulled up beside him, she yelled, "Guard Officer, you’re going the wrong way! The Mutant Beasts aren’t gathered in this direction."
Lu Feng grinned. "I need to survey the situation first. Who knows, there might be an ambush."
Hu Xin’s expression flickered at his words. "Guard Officer, you must be joking," she said quickly. "Why would there be an ambush?"
Hearing him say that so suddenly made her genuinely nervous; after all, she had a guilty conscience.
Finally, Lu Feng stopped on a hilltop.
It was the best vantage point he’d found on the map. From here, a single mini-nuke could send the entire Beastman Race clan sky-high.
Hu Xin frowned. "Guard Officer, we can see the hollow clearly from here. There’s no ambush. Let’s go and eliminate those Mutant Beasts!"
"No rush," Lu Feng said teasingly. With a thought, he retrieved an object from his inventory space.
Judging by its structure, it was some kind of launcher.
What Lu Feng had taken out was the launcher for a micro-nuclear weapon. He immediately began to assemble it and secure it in place.
"Guard Officer, what is that?" Hu Xin asked, frowning.
She felt more and more that something was terribly wrong.
"It’s a launcher," Lu Feng said truthfully. "It fires a weapon of terrifying power. A single shot can annihilate those Mutant Hyenas, destroying everything for miles around—including any people." As he spoke, he pulled a nuclear warhead from his inventory space without any attempt to hide it. "You’ve heard of nuclear weapons, right?" he added. "That’s what this is."
"You knew all along?" Hu Xin asked, the color draining from her face as she stared at the micro-nuke.
Of course she knew what a nuclear weapon was. Even before the apocalypse, it was the ultimate strategic weapon, terrifying beyond measure.
Lu Feng grinned. "You have only your Beastman Race to blame for underestimating me. Since I dared to provoke you, I was obviously not afraid of you coming after me. In fact, I was hoping you would. I just didn’t expect you to be so cooperative as to walk right into my trap."
Hu Xin was incredulous. "When did you find out my identity? It’s impossible! I let you inspect me!"
Lu Feng taunted, "Oh? Did you take off your underwear for the inspection? I knew who you were the moment you showed up. I even know your beast-like features are in a... very private place."
"You..." Hu Xin’s face went white with shock. That secret was known only to her and the Beast King. No one else.
’How could he possibly know?’
’It should have been impossible for him to know.’
Her expression grew even more grim.
Meanwhile, Lu Feng had already connected the warhead to its casing and was methodically mounting the assembly onto the launcher.
All that was left was to adjust the angle and press a button, and it would all be over.
Hu Xin didn’t dare hesitate any longer. She launched herself at Lu Feng in an attack.
But just then, a figure shot out, appearing in front of her and throwing a punch.
She instinctively threw a counter-punch and felt her fist slam into solid metal. When she got a clear look, she saw her attacker was wearing a full suit of metallic Mecha.
Crucially, this person was clearly a Speed Ability User.
’No wonder he dared to come here alone with me. He had a backup plan all along.’
Lu Feng looked at Hu Xin with a mocking grin. "Watch closely. I’m sure it’ll be a spectacular fireworks show."
As he spoke, he finished adjusting the launcher’s angle and pressed the button.
FWOOSH!
In that same instant, a launching sound ripped through the air as the nuclear weapon shot out, soaring straight into the sky.
The last trace of color vanished completely from Hu Xin’s face.
