I Collect Skill Fragments in the Demon World
Chapter 1267 - 896: Moving House
The appearance of Zhang Chen, with his unique stance, truly gave everyone a lesson.
"This son is indeed worthy of stirring the entire Prince Pingbian’s Mansion; his methods are beyond our expectations. Even that kid Zhang Shenqi couldn’t gain the upper hand against him. He is truly the child of revival for our family," someone remarked from a distance.
Another person chimed in, "Indeed, I very much like this child’s character. Only with such a character can our Zhang Family rise again in these turbulent times and resist the backlash from the Great Victory royalty."
"Hmph, this child is unruly and has no sense of the bigger picture. Such a person, if given power, would surely disrupt the rules and decorum, causing our Zhang Family to be excluded from the major families and clans of the world, setting up enemies everywhere. Eventually, we’ll face collective attacks," someone countered.
"Nonsense! Although he scorns the decorum, he has his own set of principles in action. Though he makes many enemies, he also has many capable friends, such as Xie Lingyun, Xie Xuan, Zhong Wubai, and Zhou Qiucheng—famous cultivators in Kyoto. Together, they have formed a significant force, not lacking compared to great clans," someone defended Zhang Chen.
"Exactly, although Zhang Chen has many enemies, he also has plenty of supportive friends. On the contrary, the Eight Great Clans seem united but in reality harbor ulterior motives, lacking true cohesion—mere rabble," Zhang the Fourth asserted confidently.
For a moment, everyone at the scene kept debating, arguing back and forth, causing chaos within the pavilion, as each stuck to their own opinion, unable to convince one another.
Meanwhile, Zhang Chen and Zhang Gaqi crossed through the gates of two mansions, arriving at the back yard of Zhang Gaqi’s residence, at a separate Grand View garden. Zhang Gaqi stood before the gate and said to Zhang Chen, "Here we are, your younger brother, sister, and Chengyu all live in the Grand View garden."
A guard stationed at the gate saw Zhang Chen and Zhang Gaqi and hurried forward to greet them, "Greetings, Master Zhang."
Zhang Gaqi pushed open the door and walked inside; he had already sensed the location of Zhang Tuowei through Blood God Child.
The scenery within the Grand View garden was beautiful and luxurious, showing Zhang Gaqi’s meticulous care. Many maidservants passed by in the garden, and guards patrolled back and forth constantly.
Zhang Chen made his way through layers of eaves, arriving at the main courtyard, where Mrs. Zhang was practicing martial arts. Her Qi Mechanism surged around her; she had already refined her Qi Blood.
"Since arriving at the garden, Mrs. Zhang has been practicing diligently day and night, progressing swiftly in Martial Dao, already refining Qi Blood," Zhang Gaqi appeared to be reporting his findings to Zhang Chen, introducing it to him.
Zhang Chen, proficient in Blood Dao Divine Techniques, naturally understood Mrs. Zhang’s physical condition. Her martial practice could no longer be described as diligent—it left hidden ailments despite her Qi Blood refinement.
"The two little ones should be meditating indoors, these three little fellows must have the Secret Technique you taught them, advancing rapidly in cultivation, all entering the stage of Manifestation of Divinity. Paired with Zhang Family’s bloodline divine technique, they can already be considered skilled," Zhang Gaqi said, with meaningful contemplation.
The two little ones had Zhang Chen’s provided Yellow Spring Water, so their rapid cultivation advancement was unsurprising. Zhang Chen would be surprised if their cultivation hadn’t improved.
Without saying much, Zhang Chen pushed open the door and walked in. In the courtyard, Mrs. Zhang, practicing martial arts, was startled and hurriedly restrained her posture. Then, she looked at Zhang Gaqi in surprise, "Master Zhang!"
Suddenly, seeing Zhang Chen, Mrs. Zhang shivered, her eyes filled with disbelief, "Is this... Chen’Er?"
Four years had passed; naturally, Zhang Chen had changed somewhat, yet Zhang Chen’s changes were only slight, so Mrs. Zhang quickly recognized him.
"Greetings, Second Lady!" Zhang Chen promptly bowed in respect.
"It’s really you! Ever since that day we parted, we haven’t heard any news of you. Day and night, we’ve been hoping for your arrival, and now you’ve finally come!" Mrs. Zhang rushed forward to embrace Zhang Chen, only to find that he had grown significantly, beyond her ability to hold him. She released Zhang Chen tearfully, her face beaming with joy, "Now that you’re back, everything is good! Our family is finally reunited."
Then, regardless of decorum, Mrs. Zhang yelled towards the back yard, "Zhang Tuowei! Zhang Fei! Chengyu! You three come out quickly, see who’s here!"
Along with Mrs. Zhang’s voice changing hysterically, three figures meditating in the back yard panicked, thinking Mrs. Zhang was in danger, hurriedly ended their practice, and ran out.
Standing in the yard, Zhang Chen soon heard frantic footsteps from afar, and then three figures appeared before him.
Four years had passed, and the two little ones had changed greatly, almost becoming different people, yet Zhang Chen could still discern their past features, quickly recognizing the three.
"Big brother!!!" The two little ones rushed forward, stunned, Zhang Tuowei was the first to recognize Zhang Chen and ran over joyfully, directly pouncing into Zhang Chen’s embrace.
This year, Zhang Tuowei was only nine years old!
The little girl, fair and tender, moved swiftly and quickly, directly crashing into Zhang Chen’s arms, held tightly with joy, "It’s really big brother! Why did you take so long to find us!!!"
Zhang Tuowei clutched Zhang Chen’s neck, her voice full of grievance.
Beside him, Chengyu was also raised fair and tender, dressed in a plain white garment, her hair tied with strands of hair. This little girl was only eleven years old this year. Upon recognizing Zhang Chen, she scurried forward with her short legs and fragments of steps: "Zhang Chen, why did it take you so long to come? If you had come any later, I might not have recognized you."
Chengyu was not shy at all, directly throwing herself onto Zhang Chen, occupying his right chest, then bit him on the ear, causing Zhang Chen to cry out in pain: "How did you learn to bite people?"
"Who told you to disappear for almost five years! You said you’d be right back, but you’ve been gone for so long." Zhang Tuowei grumbled, still bearing that fierce temperament.
Zhang Chen, finally managing to pull the little girl’s mouth away, cast his eyes toward Zhang Fei. This kid now had a robust looking head, resembling Zhang Chen by three parts, his eyes eagerly staring at Zhang Chen, yet Zhang Chen had no space left on himself.
"You two should get down quickly. Clinging to your elder brother like this isn’t appropriate." Fortunately, Mrs. Zhang reprimanded them, and the two little ones reluctantly slid down from Zhang Chen, but held onto his arms without letting go.
Zhang Chen glanced over at the three little ones, noticing their clothes were all made of excellent materials, nurtured fair and tender, showing that Zhang Gaqi hadn’t let him down in his expectations.
Zhang Gaqi looked at the reunited family, quietly withdrew, leaving the courtyard to the family, instructing the surrounding servants not to disturb them.
The Zhang family entered the room, listening to the three little ones’ chatter about their lives over the past few years. Zhang Chen listened very quietly, having the Blood God Child by Zhang Tuowei’s side, naturally knowing all about the three little ones’ lives, yet did not interrupt and instead, was keen on listening.
"Your Fourth Uncle has indeed treated us well, providing plenty and neglecting us not." Mrs. Zhang summarized beside him, addressing Zhang Chen.
"Fourth Uncle is indeed nice, otherwise I wouldn’t have entrusted you to him." Zhang Chen replied with a smile.
"How have you been over these years?" Mrs. Zhang looked at Zhang Chen and asked.
"Very exciting! Made plenty of friends, met many people, and gained lots of opportunity and fortune." Zhang Chen conversed cheerfully with Mrs. Zhang: "Also obtained many opportunities!"
"It’s fine as long as you’re safe. You are the pillar of our family; if anything happens to you, we wouldn’t survive." Mrs. Zhang said beside him:
"By the way, you must thank Leader Xie, who occasionally visited over these years to support us, afraid we’d be bullied, being orphans and widows. We can’t repay this favor, but you must on our behalf."
"There’s no need to discuss relationships between me and Leader Xie; you just treat her as family." Zhang Chen said with a smile.
The family chatted for half a day, Mrs. Zhang then asked: "What plans do you have for this visit to Kyoto?"
"I’ve come to Kyoto to prepare to move you. Staying at someone else’s house continually isn’t the way; we need our own home." Zhang Chen replied.
Mrs. Zhang hesitated upon hearing this: "The housing prices in Kyoto aren’t cheap..."
"I’m not lacking money now!" Zhang Chen reassured Mrs. Zhang: "I lack everything but money now!"
Is Zhang Chen wealthy?
He certainly is!
His Authority of the Five Elements evolved into the Five Elements River, mastering the Power of the Five Elements under Heaven and Earth; as much gold as he wants, he can have.
"I am about to dispute with the Zhang Family; continuing to stay with them might not be convenient." Zhang Chen said to Mrs. Zhang: "You can temporarily stay with the Zhong Family. Once I’ve sorted things out in Kyoto, it won’t be late to settle in a home."
"With you, there is a home! Wherever you go, we’ll follow! When will we move?" Mrs. Zhang, being sensible, didn’t question further and blindly followed Zhang Chen’s decision.
Zhang Chen smiled upon hearing: "If you don’t mind, we can move now."
"Great! Let’s move now and pack our things!" Mrs. Zhang made the decisive call, grabbed the three little ones to tidy up the house, and within half an hour, the four of them appeared in the courtyard, each carrying a parcel.
Seeing the parcels on the four people, Zhang Chen was a bit dumbfounded: "Is that all? All packed?"
"This isn’t our home, and as guests, we wouldn’t have many things here, right? We’ve long been waiting for your return to move." Mrs. Zhang said.
