I Collect Skill Fragments in the Demon World
Chapter 1370 Cleansing the World
Zhang Chen introspected his Middle Thousand World, countless thoughts whirling in his mind. After a long and careful contemplation, he finally issued the first decree for his Middle Thousand World: "No extraordinary beings shall be born!"
As Zhang Chen’s first decree was etched into the Heavenly Dao, the Laws governing the world momentarily halted. All the innate embryos still in gestation fell into silence, and the Innate Spirits that were being nurtured transformed back into the Law of Heaven and Earth, circulating within it.
Although the emergence of extraordinary beings in the world would be beneficial to the evolution of Zhang Chen’s Middle Thousand World, he did not want Innate Spirits to be born in it. He never hoped for his Middle Thousand World to evolve into a Great Thousand World. What he desired was a small world capable of nurturing Innate Spirit Roots like the Heaven-Reaching Jianmu and Peach of Immortality, as long as it could provide him with Innate Qi. As for any Innate Spirits wishing to evolve, Zhang Chen was indifferent.
He merely wanted to build a ’sanctuary’ and never hoped for the sanctuary to evolve into grand edifices.
The birth of extraordinary beings would only deplete the Innate Qi within his Middle Thousand World. He needed to reserve that Innate Qi for other purposes.
"Moreover, should extraordinary beings emerge, it might throw the world off balance or cause events destructive to its development, like Gonggong ramming into Buzhou Mountain, or the Queen Mother splitting the world’s barrier. If the number of extraordinary holy spirits within the Middle Thousand World increased and conflict ensued, leading to catastrophic destruction, wouldn’t it be as if the backyard caught fire?"
Upon reflection, Zhang Chen felt that preventing the birth of extraordinary beings was preferable. For him, their emergence had more disadvantages than advantages.
He only required the Middle Thousand World to birth some simple, ordinary creatures to complete the pollination of the Peach Tree, which was sufficient for him.
As for the creatures needed for the pollination of the Peach Tree, Zhang Chen had some ideas. He extended his hand and retrieved the beehive of the hornets. Although the world had undergone a great change, it had yet to impact the hornet colony. The beehive remained the same size as before, but its internal space had increased many times over. Within, a million hornets lived, forming a hornet dynasty.
"Having the hornets complete the pollination of the Innate Spirit Roots should be sufficient. However, I must also be cautious of the hornets, to prevent the world from becoming a hornet kingdom, evolving into a world of bee-men. If power struggles subsequently lead to the world’s collapse, wouldn’t all my precautions be in vain?"
Mumbling to himself, Zhang Chen entertained another thought: "Moreover, the Peach is a
Heaven and Earth Spiritual Object, so I must also prevent the hornets from stealing it."
Zhang Chen contemplated cultivating an Innate Being to guard the peach. Yet, after some thought, he realized the Heaven-Reaching Jianmu was his avatar, and with the Eye of the Heavenly Dao constantly monitoring the world, he could promptly use the Beast Control Technique to drive the hornets away if they attempted to steal the peach.
Countless analyses of pros and cons flickered through Zhang Chen’s mind. In the next instant, he sent the hornet nest into the Innate World and simultaneously imposed a Heavenly Dao seal, locking away the Innate Qi between Heaven and Earth. Without his permission, no living being could absorb even a sliver of Innate Qi.
Bear in mind, all the Innate Qi was exhaled by Zhang Chen’s Heaven-Reaching Jianmu avatar. Though the Innate Qi had left the Jianmu, it retained the aura of the Innate Jianmu, imbued with a wisp of its will. Through that wisp of will, every trace of Innate Qi was included in the calculations and deductions of the Heavenly Dao’s will, monitored by it, and could not be absorbed by any living organism. If anyone attempted to forcibly steal it, it would be detected by the Heavenly Dao.
Of course, within Zhang Chen’s world, only the Queen Mother and the Princess had the capability to steal the Innate Qi; no others could oppose the will of the Heavenly Dao.
Watching the variety of treasures evolving within the Middle Thousand World, continuously nourished by Innate Spiritual Treasures, Zhang Chen released a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. Regardless of the circumstances, the Middle Thousand World remained his final trump card.
The large ship surged through the water, racing forward tirelessly, unbothered by any water demons.
Another day passed, and suddenly, a guard reported: "Patriarch, there’s turmoil in the dukedoms ahead; terrifying Divine Beings are in conflict there. Should we detour?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Chen’s expression revealed surprise: "There’s a battle ahead?"
Zhang Chen stepped out of the cabin and stood at the bow, gazing into the distance. A hint of astonishment appeared in his eyes: "Is that the Twelfth Tier deity of the Great Victory Dynasty? Mobilizing the Power of Heaven and Earth, engaging a force of hundreds of thousands."
The army of hundreds of thousands, arranged in formation, was battling a deity radiating divine light. Both sides were maneuvering around each other, yet the army’s formation quickly began falling into disadvantage.
Although the army of hundreds of thousands was formidable, it was too cumbersome, making it difficult to maneuver efficiently.
Zhang Chen’s ears quivered slightly, absorbing every sound from the shore:
"Great Victory deity, I have no enmity with you. Why do you seek to assassinate me?"
At the center of the army formation stood a Duke, glaring angrily at the brilliantly radiant patriarch of the Great Victory royal family.
The Great Victory ancestor, although a Twelfth Tier deity, had weakened from the loss of origin and could only exert the power of the Eleventh Tier. Yet, even so, he remained invincible.
"Hmph! With the impending great change of Heaven and Earth, you Dukes, who listen to orders but ignore proclamations, are the source of disaster for my Great Victory. You cannot be allowed to live until the great change occurs." The Twelfth Tier deity coldly declared: "You are blameless, but being seated as a Duke makes you guilty, and the Great King will never allow you to live any longer."
"The Great Victory Dynasty is without virtue, I’ve committed no crime, yet they wish to execute me. If I survive today, I will never rest until I destroy the Great Victory royal family!" The duke’s voice was solemn, filled with a profound hatred.
"You think you’re worthy of fighting to the death against my Great Victory royal family?" The divine patriarch sneered disdainfully. In the next moment, he twisted his body and began to mobilize the power of Heaven and Earth, tearing the ground apart. A rift hundreds of feet wide snaked towards the hundreds of thousands of troops like an earthworm.
"Beware and avoid it!" A general within the army formation shouted loudly. The formation began to shift, suppressing the mysterious power in the void, eroding the power of the deity, in an attempt to subdue the force that was tearing the earth.
On the shore
Zhang Gaqi and his companions emerged from the cabin, their eyes fixed on the shore, a trace of horror in their eyes shaken by the terrifying divine might.
"Isn’t that the ancestor of the Great Victory royal family? Why is he battling the Silver Foil Marquis?" Zhang Gaqi, knowledgeable and experienced, asked in surprise.
Unfortunately, no one knew the reason, so no one could answer Zhang Gaqi’s question.
Zhang Chen stood at the prow of the ship, observing the battlefield, a hint of doubt in his eyes: "Strange, the world is changing greatly, twelfth-tier experts barely surviving, has the deity of the Great Victory royal family gone mad, resorting to such drastic measures?"
Zhang Chen was also puzzled. It wasn’t a wise choice to start a conflict now. Why would the patriarch of the Great Victory royal family do something so irrational?
Next to him, Zhang Gaqi saw Zhang Chen arrive and asked, "Should we avoid the territory of the Silver Foil Marquis?"
"No need! Just a mere twelfth-tier deity, unworthy of making me avoid them." Zhang Chen replied disdainfully.
Now, the divine patriarch of the Great Victory royal family could only exert the power of the eleventh tier, not worth fearing for Zhang Chen, who, despite his essence qi waning, still possessed the strength of the twelfth tier.
"All guards, be on alert!" Zhang Gaqi shouted, commanding the fleet’s guards to be vigilant as the fleet continued northward.
Indeed, neither the army of the Silver Foil Marquis nor the divine patriarch of the Great Victory royal family paid any attention to the Zhang Family’s party, allowing their large ship to pass peacefully.
Zhang Chen stood at the ship’s bow, watching the battlefield clash, while Zhang Gaqi asked, "What do you think will be the outcome?"
"Although the military formation set up by the army can slay dragons and contend with twelfth-tier experts, it’s merely a contention. The formation is cumbersome, like an immobile target, and requires food and drink, so it cannot last. It won’t take a day to decide the winner." Zhang Chen replied.
"Strange, isn’t it said that the military formation can annihilate twelfth-tier True Dragons? Why can’t it counter a twelfth-tier expert of the Human Race?" Zhang Gaqi asked in confusion.
"The scenario you mentioned assumes there’s a master to lead, capable of cooperating with the formation to trap a twelfth-tier expert within it, and then restrain them. Naturally, it can eliminate the twelfth-tier expert. However, under the Silver Foil Marquis, there’s no master capable of restraining a twelfth-tier expert. The formation alone can only contend briefly, not last." Zhang Chen shook his head.
As the two spoke, the formation indeed became weary of maneuvering and had already collapsed.
The power of the formation is infinite, but the endurance of the average soldier is limited. How can they sustain a prolonged, high-intensity battle?
The divine patriarch of the Great Victory royal family broke into the formation, appearing before the Silver Foil Marquis. Although the Silver Foil Marquis faced an impending crisis, he was unperturbed, only shouting in reproach: "I have committed no crime. If the Great Victory royal family executes without cause, it will certainly draw widespread criticism from all the dukes. How will your Great Victory royal family explain this to the dukes? You cannot silence all those voices."
"Innocent? Are you truly innocent?" The twelfth-tier divine patriarch looked at him coldly: "The Great King ordered you to take your own life, yet you led hundreds of thousands in defiance, this is a crime of disobeying the king’s order, tantamount to rebellion. You deserve to be executed by a thousand cuts!"
"Nonsense! I committed no wrong, why should I take my own life? How can I accept this!" The Silver Foil Marquis cursed furiously, his voice filled with anger.
"This is execution without cause. The Great Victory royal family is bound to lose the people’s support, and someday will face backlash from the dukes across the land, eventually toppling your rule, leaving your family in ruins, with your bloodline destined for a terrible fate." The Silver Foil Marquis’s voice was full of murderous intent.
"Heh, my Great Victory royal family has stood for countless years. How can you ants shake it?" The divine patriarch of the Great Victory royal family sneered and then gathered divine light around him, forming a long blade: "You can be at peace on your journey. Rest assured, the dukes will follow, on the road to the Yellow Springs, you will not be alone."
"What?" The Silver Foil Marquis was stunned, staring blankly at the divine patriarch of the Great Victory royal family, disbelief in his eyes: "The Great Victory royal family wants to massacre all the dukes? Have you gone mad?"
"Heh, the thoughts of the Great Victory royal family are not something a mediocrity like you can comprehend." The twelfth-tier deity sneered coldly, and in the next moment, the blade in his hand cut through the void, slicing the Silver Foil Marquis in two.
