Chapter 393: Chapter 206: Golden Fire Skill, a Lethal Magic

Yang Wenqing heard his master’s reminder but couldn’t spare the attention to respond. Under the watchful eyes of Lan Ying and Qin Huaiming, he focused his mind, cast out all distracting thoughts, and poured his entire will into the pale golden point of energy hovering before him.

His first task was to maintain the fragile balance of this fusion.

The pale white golden qi was incomparably sharp, with a natural tendency to cut and repel. The crimson fire qi was explosive and restless, constantly trying to break free of its restraints.

The two barely coexisted, moderated by the Five Yang Qi, like cold water and hot oil being forced together. Everything depended on Yang Wenqing’s continuous and precise guidance with his spiritual sense and the Five Yang Qi; the slightest mistake would cause it to detonate.

He had to adjust the ratio of the two types of Spiritual Qi with hair’s breadth precision, a process that consumed a massive amount of mental energy and required immense control over the Five Yang Qi.

Thanks to his Golden Core World, Yang Wenqing’s control over the Five Yang Qi likely surpassed that of an ordinary Foundation Establishment Yuqing Cultivator, which was why he had reached this stage so quickly.

A little over ten seconds later, the golden and fire qi, forcibly blended by the Five Yang Qi, reached an extremely unstable yet temporarily balanced state of saturation. It began to compress inward intensely, its volume shrinking as its light grew ever brighter, shifting from pale gold to a blinding, incandescent white and emitting a heart-pounding wave of sharp, scorching energy.

Now came the most critical step: the external release.

Yang Wenqing’s spiritual sense tensed sharply as he used the Five Yang Qi to form a guiding trajectory, locking onto a protruding, dark rock on the other side of the mountain stream outside the pavilion.

He then severed most of the Five Yang Qi and spiritual sense that maintained the balance, leaving only his guiding intent.

TSSSS!!!

A sharp, piercing shriek suddenly erupted, tearing through the air.

That point of blinding, incandescent light, like a volcano suppressed to its absolute limit, had found its only vent. It shot along the Five Yang trajectory Yang Wenqing had left behind, transforming into a straight beam of incandescent white light that streaked through the space ahead at a speed nearly impossible for the naked eye to follow.

The air tore where the beam passed, leaving a scorched trail in its wake. Its speed was too great and its power too concentrated to create much of a sound from the wind. Only that piercing shriek testified to its terrifying kinetic energy.

THWIP!

With a soft sound, the incandescent beam precisely struck the dark rock dozens of yards away on the other side of the stream. There was no earth-shattering boom, nor was there a shower of flying debris.

Like a red-hot wire sinking into butter, the beam silently vanished into the hard rock. It left a pinprick-sized, bottomless, scorched-black hole on the surface, its edges vitrified, as if melted and then rapidly cooled.

A few extremely faint crackling sounds emanated from within the rock—the sound of its internal structure being destroyed by the invasion of highly concentrated, sharp energy.

This was the Golden Fire Skill!

That single casting had consumed nearly a third of Yang Wenqing’s Five Yang Qi reserves. In other words, at his current level of Cultivation, he could only use the skill about three times in a single battle.

Qin Huaiming gazed at the scorched hole, his admiration unconcealed. He clapped his hands in approval and said, "Excellent. To succeed in condensing and releasing the light on your very first attempt... Wenqing, you truly have an extraordinary talent for controlling and utilizing the Five Yang Qi."

His tone was filled with relief, but also a hint of wistfulness. "At this rate, by the time you achieve Marrow Cleansing Perfection and are preparing for Foundation Establishment, accumulating Five Yang Qi through daily practice and medicinal pills alone will be too slow. The creation of the Five Yang Gathering Spirit Array should be put on the agenda."

Yang Wenqing, who had just evened his breathing, felt his spirits lift. He quickly bowed. "Master, this Array..."

"You need not worry. I will handle the planning for the materials and its creation," Qin Huaiming said with a confident wave of his hand.

"This Array is no small matter. It is designed to capture and gather the essence of the ’Yang-harmony’ aspect of the world’s Five Elements. Its key lies in balance. The five types of Yang-harmony qi—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—must be gathered in perfectly equal amounts, without the slightest deviation. Therefore, the five core spiritual materials required to create the Array Base must be of identical quality. Their attributes must be pure and neutral, and they must be able to resonate with one another to form a stable Five Elements cycle."

"Materials like these are anything but common. Most are found in unique and wondrous lands where the Five Elements Spiritual Qi is both extremely dense and perfectly balanced, or they can only be obtained through specific, fortunate encounters. However, you need not be anxious. I already have a few potential sources in mind, and I can certainly gather everything for you within three years at most. When the time comes, I will ask one of our sect brothers who specializes in Artifact Refining to take on the task. He will surely be able to forge this Array for you."

"Thank you for your immense kindness, Master!"

Deeply moved, Yang Wenqing bowed low.

After rising from his bow, Yang Wenqing’s gaze turned to Lan Ying on his shoulder. The little creature was tilting her head, her sapphire-blue eyes fixed unblinkingly on the small hole in the rock across the stream. She seemed to be trying to recall every detail of Yang Wenqing’s casting, her small wings occasionally giving a light, unconscious flutter, as if mimicking the trajectory of the energy’s flow.

But she had not yet begun to cultivate the Yuqing Secret Skill and lacked the Five Yang Qi in her body to act as a foundation and a bridge. No matter how she tried to recall and imitate him, her efforts were futile. She couldn’t even sense the external golden and fire qi. After a few fruitless attempts, she pecked her wing in frustration, letting out a soft cooing sound.

Qin Huaiming took in the scene and said to Yang Wenqing, "This Jade Chime Island has a unique landscape, and the Five Yang Five Qi are also exceptionally dense here. It’s the perfect natural training ground for you to practice this skill and become more familiar with the Five Yang Qi within your body. You can walk with me around the island. While you take in the sights, try to sense and gather the golden and fire qi from the different environments."
