I Dumped My Mate—Now Every Beast King Wants Me
Chapter 171: She Just Turned One Month Old and Simply Cannot Speak
Hearing Ophelia’s words, the White Tiger Clan Leader’s face flushed red.
“I heard he is your nephew, and his mother is your sister,” Ophelia said. “Do you really have the heart to let Hu Ya and the others treat him like this?”
Called out by Ophelia in public, the Tiger Clan Leader could only smile awkwardly in response.
“Who says we hit him? He obviously fell on his own!” Seeing his father being reprimanded by Ophelia, Hu Ya felt uncomfortable and resorted to outright denial.
The other male cubs quickly chimed in. “Yeah, yeah! The injuries on his body are from falling down. It has nothing to do with us.”
“That’s right! He wasn’t watching where he was going. If he tripped and fell, he’s just unlucky.”
The other clan leaders watched their children lying through their teeth, but to save face, they remained silent, tacitly agreeing with the cubs.
Ophelia was so infuriated by the male cubs’ sudden change in tune that she let out a dry laugh. “It really is different when your backing arrives,” she said. “You might not want to admit it, but the injuries on my cubs couldn’t possibly be from them falling down, too. What? Is group tripping the new trend?”
Tyler swept a cold gaze over the male cubs. “Kohen and the others have your scents on them. Don’t try to deny it.”
Hearing Tyler say this, the clan leaders finally noticed that Ophelia’s two little dragon cubs were also injured. Their hearts skipped a beat as they cast reproachful glares at their own children.
“Ophelia, look at this mess. They are young and can’t control their emotions. A little roughhousing is normal,” one clan leader reasoned.
“Yes, aren’t childhood friendships forged through roughhousing?” another chimed in.
“Still, Hu Ya and the others were a bit too heavy-handed this time. I’ll have them apologize to Kohen and the rest,” the White Tiger Clan Leader added, looking at his son.
Taking the cue, Hu Ya reined in the smugness on his face and replaced it with a look of guilt. “Kohen, Dan’er, I’m sorry. It was my fault for not stopping them and letting you get hurt.”
The other male cubs also put on a show of apologizing.
Kohen pursed his lips and remained silent, while Dan’er let out a cold snort and refused to look at them. “Mother, I’m never playing with them again. They are bad people.”
The White Tiger Clan Leader observed Ophelia’s expression before asking tentatively, “Ophelia, since everything has been cleared up, I’ll take Hu Ya back first. In a couple of days, when Kohen and the others have cooled off, I’ll have him come over to play with them again.”
He waved at his son, and Hu Ya immediately stepped toward him. But before the cub could take two steps, someone grabbed him by the scruff of his neck.
“Leaving before the matter is fully resolved? Do you think we have that good of a temper?” Klein, who had remained silent from the very beginning, suddenly spoke up. His voice was as cold as frost, and his gaze locked onto the White Tiger Clan Leader. “As males, you must dare to take responsibility for your actions. Hitting someone is hitting someone. When you do something wrong, you should be punished; that’s only fair. White Tiger Clan Leader, you call it a minor scuffle, but it can’t be that only my cubs end up injured. We won’t just swallow such a disadvantage.”
Now that Klein had spoken, the White Tiger Clan Leader’s face immediately turned serious. “White Tiger King, we are bound by blood and ties; we’re practically family. There’s no need to make this sound so severe, is there?”
“Spare me. The male cubs of our tribe wouldn’t do something like bullying others,” Klein coldly interrupted the White Tiger Clan Leader’s attempt to play the family card.
“Fine, we admit that Kohen was beaten by our cubs. We have already apologized. If you feel that isn’t enough, I will bring a few pieces of prey tomorrow as compensation. Will that do?” The White Tiger Clan Leader clenched his fists.
“I can let the cubs’ fighting slide for now,” Ophelia said. “But White Tiger Clan Leader, the fact that you ordered Hu Ya and the others to kill Lobak in the Fu Clan… that, I will pursue.”
Hearing Ophelia expose his secret intentions, the White Tiger Clan Leader’s face turned icy. “Hu Ya! Did you…”
Hu Ya waved his hands frantically. “Father, I didn’t!”
Realizing Hu Ya hadn’t spilled the secret, the White Tiger Clan Leader’s panicked heart settled significantly. “Ophelia, I don’t know why you would say such a thing, but I absolutely never ordered Hu Ya and the others to do that. You’ve misunderstood.”
“I haven’t misunderstood. Wendy told me.”
“Wendy? How is that possible? She just turned one month old; she can’t even speak!” Hu Ya was the first to retort.
Ophelia raised an eyebrow. “Our Dragon Clan has a special bloodline. Our cubs can speak before they are a year old. Wendy and the others are highly intelligent, so it’s perfectly normal for them to speak now.”
The clan leaders present all looked on in disbelief, wearing expressions that clearly said they might not understand, but they weren’t about to be fooled.
Tyler maintained a serious expression. “The Princess is right. However, only we, their parents, can understand the cubs’ speech at this stage.”
The White Tiger Clan Leader scoffed, “Tyler, if you want to frame us, at least find a decent excuse. How could that be possible?”
“If you don’t believe it, we can prove it,” Tyler replied.
Ophelia looked down at her daughter, her voice softening. “Wendy, when you were playing with them, did you hear Hu Ya or the others say anything?”
Hearing this, Hu Ya turned pale, his small body trembling. Seeing his reaction, the White Tiger Clan Leader inwardly cursed, sensing disaster.
Wendy pondered for a moment before speaking in a soft, sweet voice. “Hu Ya said he is the White Tiger Clan Leader’s biological son, and his mother seems to be the White Tiger Clan Leader’s cousin.”
Ophelia frowned. She remembered that the White Tiger Clan Leader’s mate had died three years ago. Speaking of which, that young female shared some blood ties with her; she was the daughter of the White Dragon Clan Leader, making her Ophelia’s cousin. She had heard her mother mention that the White Dragon Clan Leader had a wonderful son-in-law. Even though his daughter had been dead for three years, he remained deeply devoted to Ophelia’s cousin and stubbornly refused to take another mate. No matter how much the White Tiger Clan’s elders tried to persuade him, it was of no use. Finally, to shut the elders up, the White Tiger Clan Leader reluctantly adopted a tiger cub—which was Hu Ya.
But now, it seemed the White Tiger Clan Leader’s deep devotion was nothing but an act to gain the White Dragon Clan Leader’s trust. Whether it was for what happened today or for the sake of her cousin whom she had never met, Ophelia was determined to tear off the White Tiger Clan Leader’s hypocritical mask.
Ophelia’s gaze sharpened. “Hu Ya is your biological son, and you have already taken a mate. That mate is your cousin.”
The White Tiger Clan Leader’s persona of an endlessly devoted male was widely known among the surrounding tribes. Many females often used him as a standard to compare against their own partners. No one expected the truth to be so ugly.
As soon as her words fell, an uproar erupted through the crowd.
The White Tiger Clan Leader’s face turned livid. “Ophelia, what nonsense are you sprouting? I don’t even have a Mate Beast Mark on my body. How could I have a mate? I know you want to vent your anger for Kohen and the others, but you can’t slander me like this.”
The White Tiger Clan Leader’s righteous and indignant demeanor made the other clan leaders slightly doubtful.
Ophelia looked at Wendy, who furrowed her tiny brows in thought.
“Mother, Hu Ya said his father’s Mate Beast Mark is on his inner thigh, which is why no one has ever seen it.”
